  1. Go Romeo. What an evil laugh!!
  2. Neither of my greys are banded as it is not required in Washington State. I do, however, have all three of my parrots micro-chipped so that I can always prove that they are mine.
  3. Shane, only you can decide if a 6-8 year old or a newly weaned grey is right for you. Regardless of what age a grey is there are always risks and rewards. There are no guarantees. Of course, you could always take the grey you choose to an avian vet for a wellness check up but that is always costly. As for whether $1,000 is too much, again that is up to you, in Washington State and Oregon State I am sure they are less expensive than say California or New York. What is a new life-long companion worth to you??? Good luck on your decision.
  4. All my parrots enjoy the water. I'm glad Gracie is one that can at least tolerate a bath. Go Gracie!
  5. Hi Ivlasked, welcome back to the Grey family! Looking forward to hearing more about your two greys. We love pictures and the history about our greys.
  6. Well if Zazu is calling to you, go over and talk to him. See if he wants to come out of his cage. Open the door and let him take the lead. If he wants to come to you, so be it. Zazu will let you know what he wants. Just watch and listen.
  7. Hi Shane! Very excited for you as I remember my first days of hunting for and reading about greys. Are you a Timneh or Congo lover? I have both and they are both wonderful greys.
  8. Welcome back. Can't wait to hear more about Cricket and your homecoming.
  9. I am so sorry for the loss of Lilo. I wish you had been more insistent about not letting this person hack on your companion. You were there and had every right to cease this woman's actions. What is the name of her rescue organization and her name if I may ask.
  10. Welcome sewpaulp. Just relax and talk to Zazu and let him know what you are doing. You are now his "flock" so let him get use to having you around. Please tell us a little more about Zazu. Where did you get him; from a breeder or pet store and what were you told about him. Details please.
  11. I have read a book about a parrot named Cosmo, Jeff, although I don't think its the same parrot. I'll have to drag out the book. I love to read books about parrots and read all that I find or hear about.
  12. Well said and how true. I usually do not participate in threads having to do with Pepperberg because I do not like how Alex was treated. His pleading to go back to his cage just breaks my heart. I have absolutely no respect for Irene Pepperberg.
  13. I have three flighted parrots and I have a feather here and there all the time. I'm thinking of making a ceremonial headdress. Zon and grey feathers would be beautiful all together.
  14. That zon is terrified. Only a moron would not have immediately removed the hawk.
  15. Very happy that Coco seems to be taking everything in stride. Let her set the pace and watch her body reactions. Nice and slow. In Grey Time.
  16. Great photos of your cuddle time with Escher!
  17. Welcome Dean, this old lady wishes you all the luck in the world with your new grey. Hopefully he will guide you to become a considerate and loving parront, you young whippersnapper. (smile) Welcome to the Grey family!
  18. Thank you for sharing lovely Gracie with us!
  19. Gracie is so lucky to finally have a loving, caring parront. I'm so glad you are talking to Gracie and letting her know what is happening or going to happen. Our greys are so intentive to what we have to say and try so hard to understand us. Gracie is a lucky lady that you are so willing to help her understand. Looking forward to hearing more and seeing some pictures when you think it is appropriate to do so.
  20. Loved the fid photos. Your flock is very nice. Looking forward to seeing/hearing more about them all.
  21. I have wire travel cages for my parrots. Some members use dog/cat travel cages. Can't wait to see how things go with your new fid, Coco.
  22. No my greys are quiet as mice. I would take your grey to an avian vet, just to be on the safe side and relieve any concerns.
  23. Great hatchday for grey! Have a fun day Greycie!
  24. Great video. Not sure who is having more fun Greycie or the parronts! My greys have destroyed the rubber around my ref/freezer top. You are lucky Greycie is more interest in fun not destruction.
  25. When I brought my Cag home he was still eating evening formula, but he ate other foods also. He was 5 months old. He is a big guy and after about 3 days just refused any formula. So as long as your grey wants formula I would provide it. Abundance feeding is always the best way to go. When you grey starts refusing formula/a feeding. That's when to stop.
