  1. My Louie, is a very calm kind of guy. He is 2 1/2 years old and is just kind of laid back. He is finally taking nuts from my hand but still won't let me touch him. He doesn't back away so much so I am hopeful he is starting to see that I'm a friend. He likes to play with the Furby on his cage and make it talk!!!
  2. Great pictures! Thanks for sharing your fun with us all!!!
  3. Look at all these messy birds. Sorry, I don't have any messy fid face pictures. My guys and lady all wipe their beaks and refuse to look a mess!!!!!
  4. Loved the video!!! Huckleberry is a true Fred Astaire!!!! (opps, did I just age myself!!!!)
  5. I rehomed a male eclectus who lived for years in a noisey small pet store. He bite everyone and when people took him home he screamed constantly and bite anyone who tried to hold him. Frankly, I brought him home because I felt so very sorry for his plucked mess. His back was exposed and his chest and underwings were bare. He had no pellets and no fresh vegetables, he was eating Campbell's chicken soup the day I brought him home. His feet were so filthy from walking on the bottom of his dirty cage. I took him to the vet and was told with good food, lots of TLC he would be alright. His name was Butch, probably because he butchered his feathers so terribly. I call him Solomon, for to me he is a king and one day he will have his fine mantle back. I don't do so much for him, but see that he has good food, and peace and quiet and spray him with Aloe Vera Juice (there are threads here about this wonderful elixir). When he would scream I would sing to him and that would quiet him. Sully aka Solomon has been with me for 1 1/2 years. Sully is no longer plucking and he is growing back in lots of feathers. He still is shabby but one day I plan to post new pictures of a fully feathered male eclectus, God willing. He also has his flight wings back, he isn't very good at flying yet, but after 9 years of being flightless, he is doing a darn good job! A health check, good food, peace and serenity and lots of love, that's the recipe I am using.
  6. Can't wait to see Huckleberry's video and learn more about him and your other two greys.
  7. Hi Donald!! Welcome to you, your better half and Stella. We look forward to hearing more about Stella and seeing some pictures when you get a chance. Welcome to the Grey Family!
  8. What, no hangover!!!! Come on Judy, be honest!!! LOL
  9. Congratulations Diego!!!!!! I look forward to seeing Diego's video and hearing his words!!!!
  10. Congratulations on getting Willow to enjoy her shower!!!
  11. Oh what fun!!!! Have one for the Greyforums, Judy and Julie!!!!
  12. What a fine looking CAG you have there. What's his name?
  13. Of course, on the first day of all things. Louie, upon getting into his new cage, immediately did a complete roll between his legs while hanging on to the cage bars and then preceded to stick his head in his water bowl. Of course, I had to give Louie also a misting when I misted both Ana Grey and Sully the next morning. He was totally soaked and loved it. I spray him at least every other day as he still does not trust me enough to touch him.
  14. So Louie is settling nicely. He now comes out of his cage in the AM, unfortunately he loves Sully's (ekkie) cage better than his own. Although I have moved Sully's cage around the bird room in hopes that Louie and Ana Grey will leave poor Sully's cage alone, it doesn't seem to matter to them. The funny thing is Sully has the smallest cage and it has a dome top, no hanging toys. However, today I closed Sully's cage door, Sully prefers sitting in the living room in his travel cage, and Louie was forced to go sit on his own cage. Score one for Janet!!!! Louie still won't step up, but he did say, "Nite, nite" today, in English. I use the term when I put the fids to sleep each night. So hooray, Louie now has two English words, "Hello" and Nite, nite." I am pleased!!! Louie won't take food from my hand or let me touch him, but he has stopped growling so, score another one for Janet! He is a sweet and mild mannered guy and I am truly pleased with my little Zon!! Of course, he isn't little, 15 ", I would guess.
  15. Now I would go over that bleach with vinegar and water at least a couple of three times and a good sun drying in the outside. I am a great fan of vinegar and water as a cage cleaner. I am retired so I am able to clean my fids' cages every morning and it is a great time to do the "poop check" to see that every fid is in tiptop shape.
  16. Great update on Yoshi's new adventure. Certainly glad to her the pet shop was fun for her and you were able to have a nice trip too!
  17. My grey, Ana Grey, actually eats better if she is stealing my food. She insists I hold the spoon for her though. LOL!!! She loves toast and eggs and I sit in the birdroom with my breakfast and feed some to them. We all eat it together and they seem to enjoy that. (It is not eggs every morning. They like oatmeal too.) I am very careful to section my plate, half for me, half for them. Okay, 3/4 for me, 1/4 for them. LOL!
  18. Very cute video to watch!!!! I agree bigger bowl for sure!!!
  19. I am a firm believer that just because it costs more doesn't make it better. I check out the ingredients in Harrison's when I got Ana Grey and I remember they didn't impress me. I feed Pretty Bird to my fids but to be honest they eat very little pellet. They enjoy fresh vegetables and fruits, pecan nuts and grains and seeds. I never give my fids sunflower seeds.
  20. very nice flight pictures! Way to go Cocoa!
  21. LOL, sorry had to laugh!!! Way to go Dorian. Can't wait to hear when Dorian adds the "a Daisy"!
  22. Enjoy Judy and Julie!!!!! Can't wait to see those pictures. Will be watching the international news and the newspapers to see if your names show up!!!!! You naughty ladies!!!! LOL!!!
  23. i have an older male ekkie (at least 10 years) and a 2 year old TAG. My ekkie, Sully, is much larger than my grey, Ana Grey. They have been together for 1 1/2 years. At first Sully would scream whenever Ana Grey came near him now he just moves over and lets Ana Grey steal his food. He is a very mellow guy around her. they are great friends. Now my new Zon, Louie, 2 1/2 years, Ana Grey always dive bombs his head, he use to jump to the floor now he just tolerates her dives. I keep a close eye on them as Louie is much larger than Ana Grey. Ana Grey tries to protect Sully from Louie, I believe, as Louie likes Sully's cage better than his and that is a problem. Once everyone gets use to each other, I believe all will be fine.
  24. Great little birds. Thanks for posting the article!!!
