  1. Of course if your grey is like my Ana Grey who likes to "exam" the keyboard because it is mine and then remove each key and demolish it immediately after "popping" it off then you have a real problem. LOL!!! I'm glad your grey is satisfied with the "imitation" keyboard snoepgoed123. I am jealous!
  2. I'm with Judy, I believe we have a female!
  3. Oh, I feel for you all with mature zons and greys. When I had an older male ekkie, I was told to keep the room darker (more like winter than spring) and provide wet rawhide for his chewing needs. And basically let him be as he was very, very grumpy. Now my Louie, male zon is only 4 years old but I have noticed that he is liking to chew up his wooden toys a whole lot more than normal. Not looking forward to a mature zon or grey.
  4. Sounds like my greys' breeders. Neither of the people I got my greys from would ship or take a deposit before they met me. Looking forward to hearing more about your grey journey!
  5. I have a bird room and my three TAG, CAG, and ZON are free flighted there all the time. I have noticed what they are very friendly with each other when I am not in the room or in the house. As if they are just waiting for me to show up and cause a ruckus for my attention and amusement.
  6. I have three parrots, a TAG that I have had since she was 4 months old. Ana Grey is now 4 years old. Then I got my ZON, Louie, who was 2 when I got him and is now 4 years old. And finally my CAG, Sterling Gris, who I have had since he was 5 months old and is now 1 year old. Ana Grey, the smallest of my parrots and the first is the aggressive one in the flock. She is fearless but is the very close to me so will do as I ask with a little coaching and lots of persistence. My three jockey for position all the time and do fight and get in scraps a lot. They are out all day long and are all flighted so even though they do not like each other, they can each stand their ground and "make a getaway" if need be. Will they ever be "good buddies"???? Probably not, but I am retired so can watch them very closely. Do they challenge each other, of course, that's the way of the grey and the zon.
  7. Have you tried turning on the radio, stereo or tv to distract Sam. If my parrots start making noise I don't want to hear, I sing to them. That using will stop the noise as they are curious about the new noise.
  8. Hi Louise, love your Avatar! Welcome to the Grey family!
  9. That's a feisty amazon for you. Nilah sounds a lot like my Louie. Louie knows when he is a bad boy and stops but he keeps coming back for more!!! I think my zon is more energetic than my greys. He is always busy and moving when he is not eating!!!!! LOL!!!
  10. BeeFernandez22, I think that if you re-home an 11-month old grey that would be wonderful. I have a year old grey who is just starting to talk and he is a joy. Our greys live a long life, 11-months old is still a baby to me.
  11. Oh Penny please continue to post about Nilah and the others. I love to see your headstrong zon and how you deal with her. She is a character all of her own and I love her antics. A little rebel so to say. I don't know which is more of a challenge your Nilah or my Louie. Want to swap zons for a week and see what happens???? LOL!!!!
  12. I have three parrots and parrots do scatter seeds and food. Just clean up after your grey. It really isn't that hard. If you do not have the time to do the clean up, then for your grey's health and happiness re-home your grey. That would be my suggestion. I may get a lot of heat from this post, but putting your grey in a plexiglass cage in the laundry room away from the family and activity is cruel. All animals need fresh and circulating air; and contact with people and life. Can't you put your grey's cage in your room?? Think of what your priorities in life are right now and if your grey is not a main part of your life then you have your answer of what you should really do for the health and happiness of your grey.
  13. Very nice introduction. I look forward to hearing more about your grey and other companions. Welcome to the Grey family!
  14. Both of my greys are affectionate. They both love neck rubs and give me kisses. Both love to sit on my chest and snuggle. In the affection department I see no difference at all. Both love being misted and soaked to the skin. I have always been very affectionate with my greys and I have had both since they were weaned so I believe it makes a difference in the love and affection you give them. I am retired so my greys and I spend a lot of time together. I also believe that their breeders have a great love of greys and both greys, TAG and CAG, were handled lovingly from hatch to weaning. Both were very socialized when I got them.
  15. Hi BeeFernandez22, welcome to the forum. I have both a TAG and a CAG and I find that they have different personalities and characteristics. My TAG is much smaller (305g) and my CAG much larger (505g). My TAG is fearless and a swift flyer. My CAG is more cautious and flies more laboriously; he is a big guy. So it really depends on what you want. So do your research and choose the grey that fits best into your way of living. I love both of my greys and would never want to have to choose between them.
  16. Looked on the internet and Craig's List for breeders. One grey I got in Washington State and one in Oregon State. Both from excellent and loving breeders. Both breeders required that potential new parronts come to their homes to get their babies, they would not sell them any other way. And neither would take a deposit. They wanted to meet the buyers personally. My TAG will be 4 years old next month and my CAG turned 1 year old this month. I couldn't be happier as I was unable to find grey breeders in my home town/area.
  17. Sorry for the loss of your grandfather but congrats being able to get your grey. Looking forward to participating in your journey!
  18. Least we forget. Thanks for the reminder!
  19. No, my greys don't do the flop over but it sounds cute. I would love to see a video!!!! (hint, hint)!!!
  20. Hi Jocelyn nice you meet you and yours. Looking forward to traveling with you on your journey to find the right grey for you! There is oodles of information in the different rooms of Grey Forums so read, read, read and ask all the questions you want! Welcome to the Grey family!
  21. Congrats on your new addition. Details please!!!!
  22. I put my fids to bed with a nighttime snack and then I tell them all "Nite, nite, see you in the morning, etc., etc." and turn off the lights. When I start the ritual of "Nite, nite,....." they all go to their sleeping perch and settle in. I turn off all lights and all is quiet. They know what to expect and they just settle in.
  23. Great update! Looking forward to the Tui pictures!
