  1. I have three parrots and they share a bird room. They do go into each other's cages to steal food but they are never in a cage at the same time. Each knows which cage is "really" his/hers. My two male parrots have been warring with each other lately. Perhaps it is because it is spring time but I have to watch them all the time as they go beak to beak in menacing ways and not always nicely. I'm with Judy each parrot needs it's own cage/space. A mated pair that's different; they would share a cage and you/human couldn't come in without a fight!!!!
  2. I just saw your latest post Jeff, bravo!!!!!
  3. Clipping or not clipping should be a personal choice is my manta but I do not believe in forcing anyone or any animal into submission. My first grey was clipped by the breeder before she was mine and my second grey was "lightly" clipped by his breeder but could always fly; he is so strong and big. (Poor clip job, I guess, thankfully). Both of these greys love me and come to me when called, well most of the time anyway LOL. Trust is what you must earn from your grey, breaking a wild spirit is just cruel and self-serving. Jeffnok I believe you have patience and heart and will figure out what you need do to earn Gracie's love and trust. In the end your patience and perseverance will win the day for you and the satisfaction you get for having Gracie's trust will be so worth the time and patience.
  4. Hey Dan "talk to the meatloaf" Who is Dayo referring to????? Huh, huh, huh!!!! I almost choked on my laughing, naughty Dayo!!!!
  5. Poppycock!!!!! My first parrot was/is a grey and I had no experience with anything but canaries and parakeets as inside birds. So "talk to the hand"!!!! LOL!
  6. All my pets are micro-chipped and all are healthy. I have had my dog returned because she is micro-chipped and the finder took her to a vet for checking. I would do anything to get my pets home safely and having them micro-chipped gives me comfort to know I have done all I can to be able to identify my greys/zon/dog from any other like animal (all CAGs and TAGs look alike). Vets will check for a micro-chip free of charge.
  7. Too cute Dee. Gilbert is becoming a real comedian. I luv it!!!!
  8. Great looking toy. Luckily my greys aren't afraid of new stuff.
  9. In my opinion, the Aviator is the best. I purchased a "less expensive" harness that had lots of locks and such and it was a bugger to put on and heavy. I have two aviators, one for each grey.
  10. My gang loves unsalted pistachios and I get them online from Oh Nuts. They are very low in fat. Pecans are also another favorite for my flighted kids.
  11. Since you work from home, are you saying that your grey is skittish with all people (including you) during the day or just other people, not you?
  12. Congrats to you for taking in an older grey. What is his name and what is his age? Excellent advice as already been given so relax and let your new companion settle in and get use to you. Love and patience and good food are what he needs most right now!
  13. I do have one last comment to make. If you don't have the ability/time to cleanup the floor/carpet after your grey what makes you think you will have the time/ability to clean the inside of an Enclosed plexiglass cage. Just use your imagination to what a grey will do to the inside of an enclosure on a daily basic if you don't like to clean up after him everyday. Are you saying cleaning up after him in an enclosure will be easier, or just that it won't be getting all over the carpet and house just the inside of the enclosed plexiglass cage. I shudder to think of what your grey's lungs will be like. Will your mom be willing to pay all the vet bills. Frankly, I'm with your mom, if this is your grey, you are responsible to clean up after him. My children got pets when they were young to learn responsibility.... I hope you will do what is right for your grey.
  14. I really love your batting cage, I wish I could feel safe with my chewing Louie in one. I would love to be able to set my birdies free!
  15. Love the pictures of Chili. I so love the zon colors, priceless!!!
  16. Hi vlmuke! What is your grey's name and details please, a little more info about her!!! Welcome to the Grey family!
  17. Big smiles to you!!!!!!
  18. Hi Jayd, it is really you!!!!!! So glad to hear from you. What have you been up to??? How is Salsa??? Details please!!
  19. Looks like a bath to me. You are lucky your grey likes baths. A lot greys do not. The aloe vera spray is a great idea. I mist my greys all the time with a very fine mister. they like to climb to the top of their playtop cage and I spray upwards at them never in the face.
  20. I am really enjoying watching them grow. Thank you!!!
  21. Oh how very lovely of Nilah. Forget the jealous zon..... I'm jealous of you Penny. The things I miss because I still can't touch Louie the zon. Good thing he is so comical and sweet in other ways as it is hard to resist loving a zon!!
  22. Absolutely too cute!!!!! Loved this story and glad it had a fun ending!!!!
