  1. We have an artifical tree so Alex gets to watch us put it up. So it didn't bother him to much. Once it was up though we discoverd that we can't put the angel on the top. Because Alex loves being in the tree! Grrrr I might try a differnt spot this year for the tree. Not that we have much room. But I will figure it out!
  2. Alex is very confident and with one exception has not shown fear of anything. His normal responce is let me see! Can I chew it up? Does it make noise? Mine! Mine! Oh and toy making is here mom let me help! Ooo everything is fun to trow on the floor! The more noise it makes going onto the floor the better! He is also not scared of the cats or the dog. He has bit them all for getting to close. Though the dog loves to wait under the playstand and see what Alex drops. And Alex loves to feed her after he has eatten what he wants from our plates at dinner. The little turkey!
  3. Has something changed recently? There could be meny reasons for a bite. She could just be moody and want to be left alone. Is she molting? Some birds get very grumpy when molting. Also have mom do some reading about greys. Thier is lots of info here. There is no reason to get rid of a bird because of a few bites.
  4. Great video! Ace is very cute!
  5. No idea Alex doesn't have one. His breeder doesn't beleave in putting them on. I'm gald because I would have wanted to take it off any way. Martini has one that I would love to get rid of. I know it doesn't bother them. I just don't like how they look.

    Red Palm Oil

I saw some of that too here in the US. I'm just going to stick with the pure palm oil.
  7. Oh poor Spike! I hope he gets better soon!
  8. Just no more than a 1/4 teaspoon a day. You can mix the palm oil with anything. Also do you bath Refund? Aloe juice sprayed on after a bath really helps. It helps the feathers and skin stay soft. Alex gets bee pollen as well. I don't remember what it does but it is really good for them as well. I just sprinkle a pinch on top of his food. He loves it. I hope this helps!
  9. Yes your birds beak will grow back. Alex chipped a good part of his beak off with a fall. We rushed him to the vet and they got the bleeding stopped. Though his brake was not as bad as your greys. It will grow back. You can't even tell it happened now. I would go with the hand feeding and wait it out.
  10. Sense we have a new member asking about playstands I thought I would bump this post up with pictures of the stands that I made for Alex. This is the most recent one. First one Second one Got to love the pvc it's so easy to change around!
  11. Just a guess but maybe she feels safer there. Can't fall from the floor. She had a big scare.
  12. Casper is just fine for her. A friend on another forum has a male vasa named Eve.
  13. Welcome Dustin and Shelly! Dustin if you don't mind her company let her be with you. Alex will help me do everything. He just rides around on my sholder and watches everything I do. You can teach Shelly to play with toys buy having her with you and you playing with them. When she see you playing it will perk her interest. I make most of my toys and Alex loves to "help". Also Alex can be pretty ruff when preening as well. Not always but sometimes. Give her time she will come around. It just takes work on your end but it will pay off, and one day you will have the bird that you know she can be!
  14. Hello and welcome! My only experence with egg laying was with my tiel. She was a very prolific egg layer. She never had a mate but we would get anywhere from 3 to 10 eggs a season. I just made sure she got lots of calcum because they use a LOT of calcum to lay an egg. She liked to nest sometimes too even though she didn't have any eggs. Other members may have better and more advice for you.
  15. Woot! Knew she was a girl! She is the cutest little girl too! {Love-0002011E}
  16. ROFL and Ewwwww gross at the same time!  :woohoo:
  17. I'm with Lovemygreys it looks fine to me. Don't forget that it can chaged color depending on what you feed your bird. Alex's will be bright orange when he gets sweet potatos and can be a red color when getting lots of dark berrys. I haven't tried beets with him but know they can change the color as well.
  18. I have friends on another forum that have done the clicker training and are very happy with it. I have not tried it with Alex.
  19. What a cutie! Thanks for sharing!
  20. Take her to the vet ASAP. Birds hid when they are sick. You wont see any thing from them until it is far to late. Oh and Welcome! Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room?
  21. Alex is scard to death of water. He wasn't doing to bad until his accedent. Now he screams like we are trying to kill him if he gets water on him. I know he needs his bath but don't know how to get him to take one that wont stress him out.
  22. Yeah that sounds like a grumpy bird that just wants to be by himself. Just let him do his own thing and try not to worry.
  23. Oh he was just having a grumpy day. Got up on the wrong side of the pirch. We all have them even our greys. I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it keeps up.
