Judy, I don't need to check the bag, those things are a lot like bleach, you KNOW theyre wrong when they are going down....Dan, if you like them so much, you can have the ones left over. I will even buy you a cube of fancypants irish cream butter.......Personally, I figured you as more of a sprinkle em on a cupcake kinda guy.

How about bird food that is toxic to humans? I poured Schroeder's Harrissons superfine pellets into my cereal bowl instead of my knock off grape nuts in a bag. I will admit that grapenuts are no treat, but his food nearly killed me. After that I went out and bought zupreem fruity pellets. Atleast they smelled good.

Don't worry, these birdies would be as rad by any other colour.

Poor little muffin I hope Scarlett continues to be a great comfort to *and does not get bitey) and that you are able to be the same for her (also by not being bitey!).

Your magic wish granking finger falls off due to overuse and you find yourself unable to grant any wishes. I wish Schroeder's poop smelled like roses

Schroeder is very well socialized. The neighbors visit him frequently, and I take him out on errands about twice a week. Most people are very curious about him and i allow them to touch him with 2 fingers only after they use my hand sanitizer. He loves the attention, but if he seems nervous or stressed, I ask them to stand back and look only. The first question is always "Does it talk" Schroeder usually answers for me by saying No and shutting up. I also get asked what kind of pidgeon he is quite a bit. Schroed is a timneh and quite a bit smaller than a congo. When out andd about I put paper towels and water in my purse for him and keep a dixie cup in my hand for him to poop in. I understand that he is a bird, and birds poop all over the place, but it is important for me to be a respectful pet owner and keep my animal from soiling public areas. I don't want people to get the wrong idea about my bird because I allow him to poo willy nilly all over the place.

I have 3 planters 7x18" that I grow pet grass in, they are large enough that it takes Schroeder a week to destroy and when he has ruined one i cycle it out, re plant and put another on in. It takes about 3 weeks for the grass to grow so it works out. You can buy/order pesticide/chemical free potting soil at the nursery and the seeds are 2 bucks a bag and it takes 3 per planter, so cost is about 6 bucks a week after the initial investment of 4 dollars a pot and 12 dollars for the soil

Awwwwwwww, I put it on Schroeders facebook page, I am sure hell get a kick out of it. If anyone would like to get to know him better, you can add Schroeder Easybake Muffins to your friends list.

When Schroeder is bad, I start folding sheets. He is not fond of me doing anyting with sheets and will generally climb up on to my shoulder to cuddle and distract me from the evil sheets. If I am not holding him, he will fly to me and demand to go on the shoulder. Then he preens my hair, kisses me, rubs his head agains my cheek. Honestly, I think he's a bit slow, but it seems to be working out to my benefit. It is just unfortunate that your bird is not retarded like mine and has figured out how to play mind games. Good luck.

Wow, you must really love her. There is no way I would eat a Harrison's pellet for Schroeder. I prefer to eat the Zupreem fruity pellets. -

Bone splintering has a lot to do with cooking time and heat. If you take the chicken out of the oven when the meat is finished and before the bone has had time to heat, it will remain mosit and not splinter.

Schroeder seems to get louder when he is being ignored or when someone is in the kitchen. ambient noise in the room seems to leave him unphased.

You swim so fast that your suit melts off and the world sees the embarassing sorority tattoo on your bum on live TV. I wish the weekend was 3 days long

Yes, the only company that sells veternary pet insurance for birds in the US is VPI. Schroeders policy is 213 annually and they have an 80% payout for most things. I also have him on my personal articles policy in case he is lost, stolen, dies suddenly or flies away. He is also microchipped. Yes, I am paranoid, but zschroeder doesn't seem to mind

This little bird is quick, let me tell you, we had to bust out the high speed capera to get some shots of him and he is still blurry. arghh. His feathers are starting to look a bit better now that he is being fed properly and he has a healthy preen gland. After his next molt, he should be a very cute little senegal. His green patches have little yellow feathers all throughout, and he looks kinda nerdy. It makes us say awwwwwwwwwww every time he puffs up. It looks like hubby will be naming him Buddy. I should have some pics up in a couple of days as soon as I figure out how to photoshop out some of the blurry.....I'm not sure it can be done. I'll cross my fingers and do a hail mary before getting started on that project. We did get the lab results back from the vet ytesterday and he is very healthy. Now tthat he has met Schroeder, it seems the bloom is off the rose. Buddy keeps picking fights with Schroeder which ended in Schroeder climbing on a perch overhanging his boing and pooping on Buddy as he attempted to break into Schroed's territory from below. Providing you arent Buddy, it's pretty funny.

I doubt it. Mike and I had been living together a while before I brought Schroeder home. We both played with him, we both fed him, we both spoke to him. Schroeder hates Mike and will stalk him around the house to bite Mikes shoes when he is bored. We don't know why, but our very well socialized grey hates my husband. Schroeder will play with and cuddle with total strangers and most children, but NOT my husband. Good thing Mike has a healthy ego and his own bird. Birds are like people in that they like and dislike different people. I'd tell your wife to be patient, persistant and not take it personally. its been over a year and Schroeder is just now starting to be civil with Mike (and not every day). Every day for the past year Mike has read to, tried to give treats to and spent time near Schroeder... It is taking a long time, but maybe in the next epoch or so they will be able to be buds.

You stop getting lost and everyone notices and starts asking you for directions to places. You cant get any work done because of everyone bugging you, and you run out of money for gas and cant go anywhere at all. I wish every pet bird on the planet was as happy as the birds owned by this forum's members

HELP... need gift ideas 4 new grey owner
SchroedersJen replied to sgtslaughter's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
One thing that many owners overlook is a bird first aid kit. You can find a good one at nalanitoys.com this website also has wonderful toys that are labeled for greys and reviewed by birds. Its a fun site, fairly priced and has great content. As they make many of their own toys, packages take a little longer to arrive than with most sites. If you e/mail them they will usually rush it for you if you have a good reason -
Schroeder doesn't talk, but we adopted a senegal today that does....Maybe Schroeder will start using the new birds voice?

Hehehehe, that made me laugh so hard some of my water squirted out of my nose. Doh!
