If the clipped wings upset you, some avian vets will to feather grafts to the clipped bits so they can fly. It isn't cheap, but it can be done. So far as growling goes, are you sure it is a growl and not baby "mommy feed me" noise? Sone of the babies that I have handled have a very throaty begging noise. Not always, but sometimes. Schroeder growled at a very young age, but it is rarely because he is really upset. he likes to "dominate" his toys with a good grrrrrrrrrrr several times during the day. He also likes to growl at me before we play.

Hello Josh and Weasel! It's great to see you on the forum, I am sure many of us will enjoy getting to know you (both) and have many fun stories to look forward to. You are an astronaut, the best there ever was and ever will be. You go places that are only in comic books, do space walks and collect samples of stuff that cures cancer, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes....all sorts of stuff. One day in a news conference, you decide to bring your bird and everyone is so in love with your performing grey that they totally ignore you. The following month, you fart in your space suit and it rips a hole in the back and you shoot off into space never to be heard of again....The following day the papers read "Famous Grey abandoned by Crummy Owner" I wish all groceries were free and tasty.

Awwwwwww, what cue little muffins! I wonder if Schroeder would like a sibling..... What a fantastic breeder. Good luck! -
A friend sent this to me, it is an article that focuses on red factor greys, but has some great pics of an all red grey, a grey with a white tail and a mostly white grey....They are beautiful burds, and there is some mention about the red being possibly indicative of a liver disorder.....How many of you with red factor birds have had your pets regularly seen by a vet? Do your birds have liver issues? I'm just curious. http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/community/showthread.php?t=49155

Timnehs can be jealous attention whores. I would use that to your full advantage. Let your wife come up and interrupt Charlie you time by being sweet and begging for attention. You can reward her with a nice head scratch or neck rub. Charlie is going to figure out that the best way to get your focus is to be nice and allow you to touch him. It worked well with a rescue I have been working with, though it took a few days... You may want to have treats on hand to reward him when he lets you touch him.

The genie in a bottle follows the letter of your wish, and not the spirit of it, giving you 2 cents a day, for a total of 56 cents, because it happens in Feb.....then uncle sam takes 17 cents, the state takes 8 and you are left with almost enough to buy a gumball. I wish I had a set of 18 year old triplets to go skydiving and bungee jumping with....18 year old male triplets that I was not related to.

We use bleach to sanitize equipment at the bird store....we just mix it with a LOT of water first. We haven't had any deaths yet......

Schroeder tends to molt 1/2 of his feathers at a time, over a period of about 2 months....then the other half fall out 4 months later. As a result, I end up having a calico looking TAG. He spends a lot of time outside and his old feathers get very faded and new feathers are nice and dark. He looks a bit scruffy at the end of his 2 months, but never too terrible. Mostly, he just looks strange. <br><br>Post edited by: SchroedersJen, at: 2009/03/27 03:19

In California, pets are allowed on outside patios, but not inside the establishment. As long as you can get to the patio w/o walking inside, you may have a pet....the problem with this is that patios are also the only place where smokers can smoke, and I dont want my birds inhaling a bunch of smoke.

You go on Dancing with the Stars and have a wardrobe malfunction. You end up on a Stars Gone Wild bloopers video on you tube and your dad sees it. I wish my husband wasn't tired all the time >

I am curious to know what grocery store chains allow pets?

I met a man at a bird owners club that was missing an earlobe. His blue and gold had kindly removed it for him. Then he showen me a thum that didn't work very well because his grey had bitten through the bone and muscle....I suggested that he keep goldfish in his next life. I sure am glad Schroeder is a timneh and has a small beak!

I take my brids to the bird store to see other birds and owners (there is a great one here) and to the plant nursery and home depot. They also get to go visit friends/family and Schroeder goes to the park to watch softball games with me. I have also brought him to the track (horses) on a pets day. He thought it was fantastic. I don't take Buddy as many places as Schroeder because it freaks him out. We are working up to big busy places with him. They both LOVE car rides and will wistle and flirt with other drivers at red lights. You should see Schroeder around firetrucks. Woah baby!

No problem Wearing toys is a great idea too, espescially if you want to keep them occupied on a trip out of the nest. I'm going to have to try that today rjhammy.

You get 1,000,000 tax free...and so does everyone else. Prices skyrocket and you find that a million doesnt go as far as it used to. I wish Buddy would stop picking fights with Schroeder.

What are your favorite noises that your AG make?
SchroedersJen replied to Brittany's topic in The GREY Lounge
I Schroeder's "I'm the boss of you" Timneh growl and Buddy's Senegal purr. Both are super cute! -
ZZeros new playstand and swing :)

Wow, if ZZero doesn't want it, I'd love to play on it! -
I wrap Schroeders new toys in paper towels. By the time he has pulled off all the paper towel, he has figured out that the toy isn't out to get him.

YES! Ask your vet about microchipping! It isn't very expensive and is a wonderful investment.

I tuck Schroeder in every night at the same time, and make a big deal out of it. Sleepy time is fun time, and he looks forward to it. I tell him it is sleepy-sleepy time, we walk over to the cage, I snuggle with him while talking about sleepy time. He gets a treat and munches on it while I tell him a story. I say "Good night Schroeder, I love you, I'll see you tomorrow" Then I put him in his cage and lean in, rub his head and give him a kiss. He really likes the fuss being made over him and goes right to sleep. Maybe Bed time should be a treat?
-
Oh, and I wish parrot cages were safely self cleaning and quiet and not smelly and it didnt cost any more to have this option.
-
Suddenly, all birds can fly free and have no fear or regret of returning home to their loving human whenever they want without fear of ever being caged again. The whole flock both bird and human are happy and free! And then the predatory raptor type birds figure out all of the sweet pets are easy to see and catch so they eat them all and there are no pet parrots left.

An easy way to tell if your bird is molting is to see if their feathers fall out in your hand during a loooooong scritching session. If your bird wont let you scritch it's body for a long period of time then this won't work very well....good luck though
