  1. My husband and I have a friend with a timneh that they raised from a baby... He didn't start talking till he was 13, but once he started, he was quite good at it. This may be a waiting game Hope you're reallllllllly patient.
  2. They are fine. We give chopped veggies to the birds at the store all the time, and mine get them as well. The bell pepper seeds are never removed.
  3. Woo Hoo another Timmy owner Bryan, Schroeder is on facebook. If you would like to befriend him, I am sure he will give you all sorts of advice for keeping your TAg happy. Welcome to the forum.
  4. Forget the sleep cage idea.....Birds are like potato chips, you can't stop at one. I am Sure Simba will love his cozy cage, and be happy to trade it for a larger cage and surrener it to a little brither or sister when you get a second bird. 8>
  5. You make it, but it smells so good in the oven that people come from miles around to have a nibble and everyone but you gets to enjoy it... I wish I could come up with another good wish for this game.
  6. I wear lotion and perfume all the time. I do not spray perfume on around Schroeder and Buddy, and I do not let them lick lotion off of my hands, but they don't seem to be bothered by it. I get wellness checks on them every 6 months and the vet hasnt mentioned anything.
  7. Oh, that's easy, I'd just go through Mexico. The boarder is only 70 miles or so away.
  8. You swim with dolphins and they have so much fun swimming with yuo that they dont let you out of the water and you get pruney and drown. I wish I could take Schroeder on cool vacations to Europe without worrying about quarantines.
  9. The vet is a good idea, you should also get a bird first aid kit and traininag asap for stabelizing other types of common injuries.
  10. Hi Where on earth did you get a custom flight suit? I would love to get one with a peanut or a piano for Schroeder!!! I live near Newport, let me know if you want help finding places to buy bird supplies There is a great store off of ElToro Road in Lake Forest called Omar's Exotic Birds. You shoulf check it out. Good luck on your move.
  11. Welcome Lady Sue and HRM Ollie Schroeder and I are looking forward to getting to know you!
  12. Mexican veggies are soaked in vinegar, salt, sugar and (occasionally) tequilla. I'ts good that you asked, but there is a better way to get spicy veggies to your bird. You can get a tiny bit of red palm oil, gring or chop some pepers or chilis from the grocery store and add veggies. score the veggies so that more of the flavor is absorbed. This way you have a healthy treat for your grey.
  13. If I close my eyes, I can imagine myself there, and it's the best 30 second vacation I could hope for!
  14. Good decision Jamal. After you take into consideration the time and cost of breeding greys, profit isn't really present anyway.
  15. Scheroeder whacks my head pretty hard when he is preening my hair, but, in general, it feels good so i let him keep up with it. I agree with Dan though, it is probably a not so subtle ploy for attention.
  16. A good friend of mine has a Hy. She is a sweet, loving bird, but expensive to maintain. She goes through custom stainless cages at a rate of 1 per every 18 months, so they bought one and had a welder weld the joints and bolts in place. That cage, plus labor cost $3,000. It is 3 years old and they have had the welder come out for spot repairs every year. Grooming a hy costs about 30 bucks every 3 months, food is about 200 a month and toys a whopping 400 dollars a month. I doubt the 500 dollar hy was legit. Perhaps they intended to type 5000, but still, that is cheap. In the Lake Forest branch of Omars Exotic Birds they have a pair selling for 18,000. Princess is also LOUD, my friend was sued by her neighbors after filing 5 noise complaints with the police. They ended up hiring a contractor to put sonex foam in the walls to keep noise down. These are "quiet birds" in that they dont make loud noise as often as a cockatoo, but their lungs are HUGE. When she wanted to be heard, she was....and it was too much. If you can get past the noise and money, she is a great bird. She is friendly, smart, was easy for her owner to train and is a loving member of the family...errrr flock. While you could certainly spend less on upkeep, I am of the general oppinion that a pet owner has a responsibility to do EVERYTHING possible to keep their pet happy. If you cant afford it, don't get the animal.
  17. You go to dinner with Brad and he spends the while time bitching about Angelina and crying about how he wants Jen back. Then he realizes he left his wallet at home and you have to pay for his whining and dining. I wish subway's flat bread sandwiches were juts a tad bit bigger, like 15%
  18. You dance all night and find that you go through shoes faster than a sorority house goes through condoms. This makes you buy cheap shoes and your feet get owiees and you wear them down to stumpy nubbins. I wish my clients wern't all turning out to be shady.
  19. My costco membership. Being able to buy good paper towels in bulk is a life saver. They help clean and a nearly used roll provides hours of shreaddy fun for Schroed E Muffins.
  20. you fly to the moon and realize you forgot to pack a lunch, so you get there and are too tired to get back. Not only that, but it turns out the moon is NOT made of green cheese and you can't improvise. I wish mu husband didnt watch boring documentaries all the time.
  21. Schroeder LOVES being involved in human activities. Here is a non toxic recipe for play doh http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-Playdough-Play-doh/ you can make it with your birds and play with it with them too. Schroed thinks it is really something when he gets to help me "cook" and play.
