I may have written before that the Inland Empire is about 60 miles east of LA, about 60 mile west of Palm Springs with Interstate 10 going east-west and I 15 the main north-south freeway. The San Bernardino mountains are just to the north. Depending on traffic the Pacific Ocean is one-two hours away. For those who crave man made entertainment there are Disneyland, Sea World, Universal City, Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Mountain all within an hour or two. There are casinos on almost every reservation as well as in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many forget this is desert and there would be nothing here without water from the Colorado River as well as rivers from Northern California. Because it is desert it is hot in the summer and chilly in the winter. Mammoth Mountain is a popular winter sport destination. Some stay closer to home and play at Wrightwood and Big Bear. It is still Southern California and as such is over populated with traffic nightmares, year around fire season and frequent earthquakes and is over due for The Big One. But I still live here!
