Aah thank you folks, what lovely comments. It's so lovely to share Alfie with people who share a passion for these wonderful birds. xx
-
A short video of Alfie's latest new words - she started coming out with this over the weekend.
-
I didn't hear of this before, but that means nothing. I think as long as he will hold his toys with his foot, it means there is nothing terribly wrong with him, and that's just the way he prefers to eat. Maybe he just doesn't like to get his feet messy!!

Happy Hatchday Josey - enjoy your cheese - it's a day for being spoiled!! Can't wait to see the pics Judy!! Many Happy Returns. Lyn & ALfie xx

Janet this is a smashing thread - can't wait to see what comes up from everyone! ALFIE The Good - The cuddles, the kisses, the way she sits on your knee everynight for some quality time, the cute little animal noises she does, the way she holds her food when she's eating, the way she calls herself sweatheart, when she flies through the house to come and find you, when she says "hello" when you come home, when she tells herself "good girl" for flying to her perch for a whoopsie, when she sits in a quiet spot twice a day and goes through her entire repertoire, when she holds on to your collar with one claw to steady herself when we're out for a walk (so cute), how she says hello when the phone rings, how she makes me smile even when I don't feel like it, how she lets me pick up each little foot to inspect it and probably a hundred other things I can't think of at the minute! The Bad - Most definitely Alfies bad is chewing - she's wrecked the 3 piece and taken chunks out of a pine dresser. She's even chewed the leather seats in the Dayvan we only just got - I don't think David noticed this yet - we can maybe emigrate before he does!! The Ugly - Has to be when she dives on the dogs - not very often, but occasionally, and sometimes for no reason. Monkey!!

Lol - you have had quite a weekend! Now where on earth would he have heard a police siren from ?!!! And while you were speeding too!! Lol funny! I do love it when you start to hear the makings of a new word - it's a great guessing game for a while, trying to figure it out! Lol Paul - love the Vicar story!!
-
Lol - you are quite right!! She does that a lot! Hmm Paul - that's true. Right then - decision made. I'll stick with the old one for now. Thanks folks!

Re:The Members Photography Thread Part 2

This years trip to the Bluebell Wood didn't go quite as planned. We had planned to get there around lunchtime, but didn't make it until around 3pm due to a poorly horse, then we carted all of our gear (Alfie, dogs, picnic, camera equipment) out to our picnic spot, just as the thunder clouds rolled in and we hot footed it back to the car! Then as we were waited for the rain to pass, Alfie chewed through her harness and that was that. These pics I did get, did not turn out as sharply as I would have like - I forgot my tripod!! Thought I'd share them anyway to give you an idea of the lovelyness of the spot! -

Thank you Howardine, and I in turn, find it a privelege, to share my experiences with Alfie, with such wonderful, caring, parrot mad people as yourselves!! If something happens with Alf, I simply can't wait to get back to my laptop and share with you all - knowing that you will appreciate it for what it is - a truly amazing experience with a truly amazing creature! x

Ooh now I have that song stuck in my head!! But what a lovely story - you must get a vid of that pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!! -
Lol - I read the first half dozen words and thought "oh no!" Hahahahahaaa - we have a big tent!!! Jess, it was great fun - I haven't been camping in ages! Thanks Judy, I think it did her fine. I'll hold off getting another till we've been away for a few days - I think the one she has will do her.
-
Oh don't even get me started on the sleeping arrangements! Too late!! The bed.........well lets just say my two hours sleep left me a little bit cranky! And we were playing on saturday night too - so late to bed then - come sunday I was Knackered!!! Still had great fun though! I should mention, one casualty of the weekend, although this happened on sunday when we went for a walk, and not during the camping trip - Alfie has finally chewed all the way through her harness, so she will be C.B. for a while - I'll have to hit eBay again!!
-
Wow Bernie - that's very impressive! I'm just catching up on this thread - how exciting for you! Do make sure you keep a hand in - that's your baby! Don't let them leave you behind! Glad the wedding went well. Now what on earth could you have done on stage that got a giggle.......?
-
Oh have a lovely time Howardine - it's good to get away for a bit, and it will be lovely to see Precious! Can't wait to hear how you got on!! Have fun! x
-
Oh Bernie - what you like!!! Any way, good to hear your cut off invention worked, and well done for not being distracted by the tottie - that could have been disasterous!!! Just remember the tape the next time!!
-
And also on that farm he had a....teeny tiny little monkey (you have to listen hard to this one!!)
-
It does sound like a lovely breakfast!! Well done for figuring out his dining preferences - Alfie likes it the other way round!! They know what they like though - it's just up to us to understand them Lol - sometimes easier said than done!!
-
And on that farm he had a.........little chicken!! [video=youtube;qT3ETO-p6rc]

Thanks folks! I don't think Alfie minds the horses so long as they don't get too close - Leah came for a sniff once, Alfie flapped but I think Le got the bigger fright!! I thought I'd get at least one phone call from the neighbours to tell us there were campers in the field - lol, I guess they knew it must have been us!! As for the pics Judy - I'm not in many of them cos I'm allergic to that side of the camera!!! Thanks for the comments folks x
-
Aah bless that little penguin!! Imagine him going and doing the shopping for his family - he doesn't half take off when he knows that fish is in his back pack!! LoL! Funny Dan, thanks for sharing.
-
What a lovely green garden you have - I'll bet Murphy enjoys that!! We've certainly had some smashing weather - long may it continue!!

We hadn't planned on going away until next weekend, but Friday was such a lovely day, we decided to pack up the camper and take off. We started to sing "Summer Holiday" on the way, but since we decided to set up camp in the field where we keep the horses, we only managed one verse!! We thought because we didn't know how Alfie was going to take to it, we'd better not go far, plus it's a lovely spot with woods and a river. The horses were a bit suspicious when we arrived, but soon settled down when they realised we had FOOD!! Leah tried to come in the tent once! The only time they got a bit upset was during the night when I had to go out and.....listen to the quiet and calm of the night (). The tent zip must have upset them as all I saw was one of the horses, probably Gavin cos he's the drama queen of the group, trotting along the top of the field at 500 mph with his tail in the air, snorting his disapproval! I have to say, Alfie took to this camping lark like a duck to water. She wasn't a bit of bother and seemed to take everything in her stride. We thought she might object to the big scary tent, but nope, just watched us put it up, then we took her in it, let her out of her cage and she just went and sat on her little perch and had a preen! Then she put her harness on and we all went out and had a little flying session. Before relaxing in the evening sun while we had some supper - bliss!! She even got cocky enough to go on to the ground for a pringle I dropped! Found time for some group photos.... She ate well.... relaxed well... and slept well!! We took along her birdy bunk (you know how there's nothing like your own bed) as soon as I hung it up and showed her it - around 10pm - she went straight in and never came out agian till 7am!! I was amazed! We never heard a peep from her all night! I guess your bed is your bed, wherever it is hanging!! She dined in her cage for breakfast then had a little mid morning nap! When it was time to go home, she had a rake through the bags to make sure I'd packed everything - doublechecked the toothbrush - not sure why. Gavin made sure we took everything away with us and left nothing behind! I think Leah wanted to come too, but Tia put her right on that score! It was really great to have everyone together for a little while! We had a whale of a time.
-
Thanks Malikah, that would def be an issue as the cage would be traveling in a camper with us! I may keep looking, although we had a little trial run at the weekend and she did fine in her own travel cage, so we may not need a bigger one - we'll see! Thanks everyone.
