  1. THank you all for watching and enjoying Alfie as much as we do! x
  2. Lol - glad you're all getting a giggle from it - I thought it was funny - she's quite a comedienne at the minute!! Pop goes the weasel Steven? LoLOlololol!! Thanks for looking! x
  3. Hehe - some things they just won't do when you ask! Good luck with catching that crow!!
  4. Crows surely do count!! Lets hear it!
  5. Aah how sad. Bless her. The little bit about her bell got me a bit choked. Rest in Peace Loretta. x
  6. Sorry you're having this problem Paul - I understand the urgencey to fix it with a young 'un around. Acappella has made some excellent points. Lot's of changes etc. I'm not sure if the screaming is a contact call - does he not already have an established contact call that you recognise? The only thing I would suggest is to be absolutely sure that the screaming isn't being caused by some underlying problem, something physical I mean. Alfie started to scream around 5 -6 months and she turned out to have mites. Just be sure there's not something before you go giving time outs for the screaming - I'm sure you won't though. Let us know how you come on.
  7. Greys really use their beaks as an extra hand for checking things out, he is making sure your hand is steady enough to hold him. I'm not sure if there is any more to it than that. There will/may come a time when he starts to push boundaries with you, and harder bites may have another meaning, but I think your a way off that yet. You are doing right just removing him gently when he bites and returning him to his stand. Ask him not to bite - tell him it hurts you! It might sound daft to you, but I think they understand - certainly the sentiment if not the words.
  8. Aah thank you. So glad you like them. Now wait, I've got loads......
  9. We await the toys return with eager anticipation - I am sitting here beside myself on the edge of my seat............
  10. WOo hoo - Bernie is Back! So glad you have returned to us Bernie!
  11. Lololol - what a great description! I'd LOVE to visit your house!!! It sounds like a hoot!! Thanks for the tour!
  12. Good to see you back Bernie! How the devil are you??
  13. Hi Jon, welcome to the Forum. Quite possibly! As the others have said, don't push her, and let her cage be her space - somewhere she feels safe and can go to have some private time to herself. As far as petting goes, she will let you know when she wants it - but as Jay says - only pet on the head and beak. When I offer Alfie a pet - I wiggle my index finger in a "scratching" motion - if she wants it, she'll lower her head. You'll quickly get to grips with body language - bites do hurt but you won't get big chunks taken out of your fingers!! Glad you have joined us, and we'll look forward to hearing how you and Meggie settle in together. Lyn & Alfie x
  14. Just thought I'd share with anyone who's interested...
  15. Dead funny Jill - I like the sound of the Collapso - although I guess my chihuahua already meets that requirement!! Lol thanks for sharing.
  16. I was reading through some old threads last night and it's prompted me to dig these out - a visit to a local beauty spot last year - we're intending to go back soon cos the bluebells should be out again shortly.
  17. That sounds like a good idea Reggieroo. Rick I have tooo say, i think you have been given good advice here. It is simply too dangerous to let your bird wander around when you are not home, and I would think all you have to do to secure the doors is padlock them - a couple along the top of the main door and some more down the sides will keep the door in place even if he does manage to unhinge it. He does sound like a pickle!! Keep us posted on how you come on.
  18. Haha Janet - I got it right!!!! Peter Lorre looks like he's singing!!! Lol! I sometimes think fish can be nice and soothing to watch. Enjoy your new friends! Dave that foal is just super cute - I hadn't seen him before!
  19. Hmmm. Janet - I never thought of that - look on the bright side eh!!
  20. Hi Rick, Sorry you are feeling this way aboaut the forum - I am one of those who did not answer you post. I have to be honest here though and say that when I read the title, I kind of thought it was a tongue in cheek post and my first thought was "don't they all"!! I'm sorry to say I didn't go on to read the post - there are just so many posts on here every day, you simply can't read them all. I haven't found the forum to be clicky, some members get on better together than others for sure, but they will all answer any post regardless of who started the thread. I hope you get to the bottom of your little problem and manage to get a handle on it. I'm off now to have a squizz at your post and see if I can offer any help!
  21. Lol Sheila that's funny - he's looking good. I'll bet being out in the sunshine is one of the reasons he's making such a good recovery. What kind of wood did you use for the aviary, if you don't mind me asking? What was it treated with? I'm only intersted as we've like to do something similar for Alfie when we move. Thanks for sharing. x
  22. Welcome Syndicate, and Chicken!? That's definitely an original and probable unique name for an african grey! Like it! Looking forward to hearing more about you both, and maybe seeing some pics of Chicken. Lyn & Alfie x
  23. Lol - I was really interested to see the world's largest African Grey too!!! Funny!
  24. Lovely pics Julie - your so lucky to get that close to the deer. We have a bluebell wood not too far from us but it's not quite in bloom yet - I have a coupld of nice pics from there last year if I can find them. These are fab - thanks for sharing.
