  1. Dee is one of the most genuine and caring people I have never met! Did I say that right?! I am very happy to have come across Dee on Grey Forums, and feel priveleged to call her my friend. xx

  2. Not likely! I'm THAT thick!!!! Lol no way I'm outsmarting a grey!! It was funny though - I'm glad no-one was watching!!
  3. You are all most welcome! x
  4. There once was a grumpy old Troll Who lived in a smelly dark whole His life was soo sad It made him feel bad Until he made friends with a mole. New word - Cheese.
  5. I agree with Chezron - if the store is closing they will need to find homes for all their birds! Keep in very very close contact with them - if this is the case, you don't want to miss your chance! And there's no harm in asking about a payment plan - don't regret not asking - you never know! I think it was Mark Twain who said "In twenty years you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do." I too think this is one of the most beautiful zons. Good luck!
  6. I don't think any form of punishment should ever be used on any animal, not just parrots. I for one would much rather have an animal do something for me because she wanted to do it, rather than because she was scared into doing it! Great post Dan, thanks for taking the time to do it.
  7. Well Alfie's not dancing yet, but she's definitely listening to it!! Thanks for sharing Janet.
  8. Geez, this was a toughy! There once was a bright red balloon, that was tied to a yellow baboon, who lived in a pink house with a blue and white mouse that played on a purple bassoon. New word pumpkin
  9. Good stuff Janet! Pass it on!!
  10. While feeding the horses last night, a swallow flew past me very close, I marvelled for a second then got on with the job in hand. A moment later I heard it call out again, and again and again. I looked up but it was nowhere to be seen even though I could still here it calling loudly. It took me a couple of minutes to remember I had an African Grey in the car!!!!!!! How thick am I!!! Lol!!
  11. 'Smiles are Infectious' Smiling is infectious, You catch it like the flu, When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too. I passed around the corner, And someone saw my grin. When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him. I thought about that smile then I realized its worth, A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth. So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected! :):):):):):)
  12. God bless you Jay. You're absolutely right. It's so much better for everyone, to make someone smile, rather than making them frown. What you said reminded me of a poem I read once - I must try and dig it out. We love you too. x
  13. That's a good question, and one I will be interested to hear the answer to! I don't know, so will read the replies you get with interest!
  14. She is just so precious. What a cute little red tail she has.
  15. We've found with Alfie that she is happy to be wherever we are, for instance when we went on holiday recently the change of scenery didn't stress her at all. Good luck.
  16. Goodness...unless you know and absolutely trust who you are leaving your baby with, you just don't know what goes on. Maybe he just took badly to you going away and didn't get on with his keeper, and not getting out. These things shouldn't have done any real harm. Like you said, just keep an eye on his apetite and if you are in any doubt whip him into the vet for a check up.
  17. As far as choosing goes, that should really be done by the bird! You should be taking the bird who wants to go with you. As for the pinching, if you're not keen on it now, you really wont like it when you get a bite from an older bird, and the probability of that is fairly high. Just something to think about. The advice the others gave you about the rest is spot on . Good luck.

    Sad yet Good!

Absolutely Dan. Stories like this just make me so sad and more than a little bit angry that the perpetrators get away with it.
  19. So sorry to hear of your loss, my heartfelt condolences. Lolitta was such a beautiful grey.
  20. Oh dear Adina - you're going to have your hands full figuring out how to outsmart her!! Good luck with that!!!
  21. It's just too sad that stuff like this happens. There's no way I could be involved in rescues like this - I would fall apart, so I donate what I can to various charities instead. Thank goodness there are people like you who are strong enough to do what you do. Will there ever come a time when scenarios like this don't happen do you think?
  22. They certainly have been great threads Jayd, and yes, I've learned a lot - and if I didn't want and Amazon before (which I kind of did!!) I definitely do want one now!! Thank you sooo much for taking the time every week to bring us these amazing birds. It really was appreciated.
  23. I think Alfie's would be talking in our voices - when she says "aah sweetheart" it's really like me, but when she says " see you later Alf" it's pure David!
  24. Oh my goodness what beautiful views you have. I love the bottom shot, it's just amazing! Thank you so much for sharing these. I love love love sunset/rise.
