  1. Thanks you lot! Jill, I really did think she might not go for it, being a different colour and all - she must think it suits her though!!! Yes, the elasticated lead does give me piece of mind that she won't hurt herself if she does get to the end of it - she has done a couple of times and it just pings her back gently to my hand.
  2. Thanks folks. I think she suits green too, lol - it's one of my favourite colours! She does enjoy being outside - these pics were taken on my phone cos I didn't have the regular camera! Adina, you should give it a try with Emma - has she had a harness on before? Aeriga, let us know how the flight suit goes. I've never seen one on before.

    Towels

Yes, a vet will often towel a grey - mine does it with Alfie, although not every time. My vet makes me wait in the waiting room while they are doing with Alfie - stressed owner means stressed bird! Alfie never seems any the worse for her experience at the vets, but my not being with her means she doesn't associate any negative experience w ith me. Playing with a towel at home and getting him used to it will definitely help - associate it with treats and nice things then it won't be so alien to him.
  4. No probs. I think most greys are touchy about their wings being touched, but you're right - slow is the way to go! Good luck!
  5. Oh my goodness! How precious!!! She/he is gorgeos!! All is well? Names - well, I like Kito - rolls off the tonge, and he/she obviously is! I equally like Bela, Zuri and Bijou! You'll just have to see which name suits her personality! Good luck and thanks for the pics!
  6. Hi Lex, when you buy a new Aviator Harness, which this one is, they come with a DVD showing you how to fit it. It is fairly easy to fit, a little bit fiddley until you get used to it, but it's fine. Before you try any harness I would say your bird needs to be comfortable with you handling her wings, she needs to be used to the harness lying about for a while, let her touch it and play with it, associate it with treats and nice things. Practice with it just laying loosely over her back before you try to put it on her and make sure she is ok with that first. There are many threads on here that will help you, and YouTube has some tutorials on harness training too. It won't happen overnight, but is well worth perservering with as it's just great being able to go for a walk with your grey. Alfie really enjoys coming out with us - at least she seems to!
  7. Hi, not sure where exactly you are, but sites like these might give you an idea where to buy from, if you haven't looked here already! http://www.birdtrader.co.uk/birds/aviaries-for-sale/ http://www.preloved.co.uk/ Or failing these - good old ebay might be useful!
  8. Alfie tried on her new harness today. When I ordered it I forgot to ask for a silver one, and got sent a green one instead. I was worried she wouldn't like the colour, but it's been lying around for a week and when we tried it today she was ok with it!
  9. Lol Julie - funny story! Thanks for sharing!
  10. Hahahahahahahahaaaa! This is a really funny post Bernie! I don't get it, but it is reeeeeeeally funny!!
  11. So so sad, but hopefully this will be the beginning of something better for them all.
  12. Ah what great news! I love a happy ending! Thanks Bonny for letting us know!
  13. Congratulations! How precious these baby days are! And pictures - yes please!!
  14. Ah yes - I remember those days well! LOL!!! Read this with a smile on my face Jill - thanks for sharing!
  15. Duck! If he realises it is an unsuitable landing spot, he might stop trying. I think that he is landing on your head might be him trying to assert his authority, but not sure, one of the experts will have to chip in on that. Alfie hasn't tried landing on out heads very often, but she will have a go with visitors! The odd time she has done it with us we just don't allow it.
  16. My goodness! That is so funny! I would love to see a video of that, or a photo. ALfie does play on her back, but I don't know if she sleeps that way! Thanks for sharing - I never heard that before!
  17. You're welcome! It took me a while to get into the habbit of going through that site, but once you do you don't think twice.
  18. Hi Glassy, how sad that poor Llamaar is so afraid and in such condition, it's such a worry for you. I'm sorry I have no advice for you, others such as Jayd have and will help you though. I wish you luck with your grey.
  19. Lol - It sounds like you're doing something wrong!!! Maybe you should post here more often - you get great advice!!!! Lol!! As for Rene's attitude, I think a lunge at the face is very serious, and Bonnie I completely understand your concern and reasons for posting. Wether Rene hates James or not, he needs to understand that attacking his face is not not allowed. That would be the course I would be taking. I've gone through some serious attitude from Alfie in the past, but she's past it now, thank goodness, so no reason to believe Rene won't settle down and accept James as part of the flock. Good luck with him and please do keep us posted.
  20. Aah sounds like a lovely day!
