for Roran, I didn't even think of that, what a nice twist. I doubt she'll end up with thorn, and now he doesn't have a tail! I felt so bad for Gleadr.. You know, I am getting another Grey on Saturday and I was strapped for names....maybe I'll name him Gleadr...<br><br>Post edited by: Anmlhggr, at: 2008/10/22 21:01

Go slow! The bird you currently have, treat him/her as the 'top bird' always. Talk to them first, let them out first, put them to bed last etc. I'm not saying completely ignore the new one, but make sure your first bird knows they are top of the flock (under you of course! :laugh: ). If you treat the both the same, they will be competeing for top bird, where as if one clearly is above the other, than it will help with the tension. Don't force them to be close to one enough if they like, always supervise them until you are 100% positive they will be ok, and even then I doesn't hurt to keep an eye out. I am under the impressed that this 'transition' period can take months. Just, go slow Hope this helped!

LOL dave you crack me up. Yes, House is a super sexy doctor on the TV show...Woody and I watch it every tuesday, but I don't think Woody appreciates it as much as I do (if ya know what I mean... ) Thank you all for your advice! I've set the cage up and Woody knows it's there...it doesn't seem to bother him too much, but once there is something inside that beeps and talks...well...I hope he will be a good sport about it! Thank you all again for putting my mind at ease... {Love-000200C0}

So, I'm picking up my new little baby (2 yrs) boy? (lol) on Saturday, but I'm starting to get cold feet. Yes, I want a second Grey, and yes, I think I can handle two of them...however, - as I was watching House last night with Woody I was reflecting on our relationship and how far we have come - I started to get worried, what if our relationship detierates with this new family member? I know to keep him top bird and I have done my homework, but I don't want to see him getting mad or feather plucking because I wanted to get another bird. I would feel so selfish and guilty. Worried, -Amberly and Woody

I do not use a heal panel, but I'm a little over paranoid at the same time, so.. I do however use a humidafier - which benefits everyone

As the others have said, don't get his wings clipped again, it could be fatal if he fell to hard on his chest. Also try to keep an eye on him to make sure he isn't chewing at the ends of his ragged feathers. It's unfortunate that it turned out to scraggly

That is sooo cute! I was thinking about getting Woody one, but I think he would just scoff at it....he doesn't really explore new things... :unsure:
-
Now that I think about it...anyone have any name ideas? :laugh: I was thinking Echo or Mimic, but I don't want to be cliche
-
I know exactly how you feel! It makes me so angry. And I do wonder why they only do it with greys....that is a good question..

Cloud nine is an understatement, I am ecstatic! lol Now...to read up on introducing / quarantine of two birds...:laugh:

I've called the lady, she gave me her vet's name and number - her address and phone number, I've called and spoken with her and she seems genuine. I've also talked to the breeder she originally got the bird from. She has four children and is pregnant with another. He child who was just born has autism and so she says she is just at the end of her rope. I've seen videos of her and the bird and I am picking it up at her house on Sunday! She got my email because I am a member of bird club/rescue here in columbus, and she was browsing the site to see if she could surrender the bird to us and she saw my post saying I was looking for another bird. Viola! Oh my gosh I'm so stoked! :woohoo:

It's so funny how things happen. I got an email from a lady this morning saying "Your looking for a Grey right?" (don't know how she got my email : \ She lives within driving distance of me - a two year old TAG for $400 w/cage toys etc. .... :woohoo:

Wow, good eyes! Way to go!

After thinking about it and asking the folks at my bird club (just got back from a meeting) I too think I will pass - it just seems 'too good to be true'. Thank you all for your advice and insight and making me feel confident that I did the right thing and didn't pass up the chance of a lifetime - now I won't have doubts

Ok, so I emailed saying that if I came to TX could I pick her/him up? I think if it was a scam they would say no or what have you- but the lady said she was moving and that a clinic would have him/her....I wrote back asking the name of the clinic. Hopefully, I'll get a name and number.

My aunt doesn't know her - she just saw the ad and knows that I have Woody and am looking for another bird. I hope she responds with the name of a reputable vet, and yes I am VERY worried about sending the money first.

So my aunt referred me to a listing of someone wanting to get rid of their CAG, so of course I emailed them and asked some general info. I got an email back ,but it seems to good to be true (but then getting woody and all his stuff for $100 was to good to be true too). I'm going to post the emails, and I would like your advice. Scam or not? I don't want to get my hopes up. The email at the bottom is the first one I sent, the one closest to the top is the one I just got. I emailed back asking for the name of the clinic she visited. I have attached the pictures that she sent me. "He is 8 months old, attached are his photos, he was checked last 2 weeks, that was the last time i took him to the vet clinic. Bought him when he as a baby from a breeder, i am not getting rid of him, i am selling him do to my change of apartment and my new landlord dont allow pet. Picco is a good boy, i just wish i can keep him he is not aggressive and he can stay with other kinds without fighting. Hope you like him. Regards. Ad on Kijiji: From: tomboy45385@sbcglobal.net Hello! I was wondering about your African Grey, is it a boy or girl? I have a male African Grey whom I'm looking to get a companion for (NOT BREED!) How much is his rehoming fee? I just got a great deal on a Macaw Cage, so I don't need the cage you have so keep in mind you can sell it Thanks! -Amberly
