That is one sexy bird! I can't wait to see pictures of him when you get him home! and all the stories of excitment in his wake!

Indi and Woody are still doing good! Indi seems very curious about Woody but Woody seems to not want much to do with him I think woody would bite him if he could, so we've not had any introductions yet - but they can tolorate being in the same vacinity of one another. Woody has learned many of Indi's beeps and whistles - so now Woody talks twice as much and Indi hardly talks at all. Indi has mumbled a few things and he has such a cute cartoon voice. I will try and get some more pictures up here. Any ideas on getting Woody to accept Indi? I've been treating him as top bird in everything, but I feel a little guilty playing with Indi while Woody is there.

Also because I can sleep through their morning "singing" and my whole family is woken up!

Post edited by: Anmlhggr, at: 2008/11/07 16:13

Suzzique, those are some awesome playstands! How did you make the little 'netting' on the back of that one? Also, those wrap around ropes that I'm seeing everywhere, does anyone know where I can get one cheap? The only ones I've seen are like $40 and that's really pricey I think...or make one maybe?

Way to go Zooman! BRAVO! Those are awesome play stands, I'm considering building another one to - the two I have now (Indi and Woody each have their own) are 'prebuilt' and don't seem very fun.... I'm going to a toy / perch making party in Dec. with my bird club and I'm so stoked to see what we can make!

I recently got a humidifier for these dry winter months and (with mine) I don't keep it near them, the steam it releases is hot and I don't want to make them uncomfortable or risk them getting burned. Mine is in the far corner from their cages, but still in the room. Hope that helped

That is so cute, I think I'll look into getting one as well...I'd love to give Woody and Indi the chance to play on one!

I thought that this might be a fun thread if ya'll can get into it I know I'm a bird person because... 1) I got poop in my hair today and just laughed. 2) I greet the birds before the boyfriend. 3) I request off work to go to bird shows. 4) My entire Christmas list is bird toys. ..........What makes you a bird person?

They are all very beautiful!

That is so sweet, I was soaking dishes today and Indi made a beeline for the water! We ended up in NONsoapy bathwater in the tub a bit later

There is indeed a fine line. However, I believe it's so fine, it is probably best not to flirt with it! If would find an alternative, just as Kaedyn said. I personally use stainless steel, it takes a bit of getting used to, but in the end it works just as good as non stick I think (and it really proves your a good cook! lol! ) Also, I wouldn't use the ceiling fan, try to open as many windows as possible! Since it is starting to be cold out and depending on where your located this might not be viable for you. Try and move Sassy as far away as possible! Or just eat take out until you can get some stainless steel! I know that Wal-Mart has some PTFE-free cookware out there that (I believe) is still non-stick. Hope this helped, good luck!

I too would go with the Kings cage, I just purchased one off craigslist and even though it is 15 years old and had a cockatoo living in it that whole time it is still in exceptional condition!
-
They are beautiful! Great work!

Woody is a distinguished old man with no sense of humor lol, but Indi does this thing where he hangs from the top of his cage and whooshes himself like hes about to take a big jump!
-
Gryphon lol, I feel you on the toliet wand! I call mine the miracle stick! Why don't you post a few recipies
-
That looks bad to me, but like Judy said...neither Woody nor Indi have ever bitten me past a 'test' bite. I don't wear jewelry cause I think it's a waste of money thus I own none lol...but as dan said, beware the earrings!
-
Nice set up! Indi and Woody will be getting pumpkins tonight
-
What a wonderful time you had! I'm a bit jealous! hehe Woody and I are still working on our harness training....stubborn lil bucko. Animalspirit, Tabu is uber cute. Indi is very outgoing and is playing with his harness, I bet I'll be able to slip it on him anyday now, but I feel bad taking him out and not Woody Woody desperately needs to meet some more people! He's such a hermit! lol!
-
Agreed. I'm not very sure on this, but I do hope you find a solution!

When I first got woody he was the same way, couldn't touch him. However I'd be patient and try and work with him, and everyday I would push him a little further than the last day. Now I can lift his wings up, kiss him, roll him over (almost! ). He would let me know when enough really was enough, but it took some pushing on my part. I imagine it will be the same with George, he will let you know when he is done for the day, but try to be patient Hope this helps, I'm sure others will have good advice too!

So, Indi is doing great in the flock, we had our first community bath last night it was lots of fun! However, Indi has a few quirks I'd like to get rid of that are a bit odd and can't just be solved by ignoring. First off whenever he is out of his cage - I do mean EVERYTIME he will fly over to me and land on my shoulder/head. I'm not comfortable with him being there and I'd like to be able to work without poop dripping down onto my nose lol  I'm fine if he sits on a perch next to me, or even sits on the desk in front of my next to my computer so he can cuddle up against me, but I don't like being flown to everytime he's out. I was cooking when I first brought him home and he tried to land on my and could have landing in my soup pot instead - that really scared me! Now he is in his cage when I'm cooking or trying to do something but I feel bad putting him in there. Also, he has TONS of toys in his cage, but if he is in his cage he is eating. I kid you not the bird eats constantly, but then he never finishes all his food....any ideas? When he flies to me, I put him back, then he flies over again, then I put him back. I know I could get his wings clipped, but I would rather not. Any ideas or should I just suck it up?

I'm going to take Indi as soon as I feel he is comfortable enough with me to be comforted by my presence and not stressed by it. I took Woody when he was comfortable with me and got all the bloodwork etc. done - everything checked out perfectly and Doc told us that we should come yearly

"We're sorry, that video is no longer available" Whoa! The net is an awesome idea....hm..someday!

Congrats on the step up! They are such quick learners!

Wonderful Question! My bird club is holding a perch/toy making party in december, and now when I go I won't look like a total noob
