  1. You have a beautiful daughter and a lovely bird, looks like they have lots of fun together!
  2. Happy half-year hatch day Mika! What a beauty! Those are great photos, thanks for sharing.
  3. Greys go through several phases during their adolescence and I think one of them is a time of trying you and your patience and seeing what they can get by with. Sounds like Chloe has been going through this. Like a teenager, she isn't happy with you for not getting her way, but keep giving her love and gentle guidance and she should come around. Good to see you back on the forum!B)
  4. Hi Ronda! Thanks for the update on your flock. Sounds like things are really going great with Sweetheart. Maybe she just needed to see that head scratches are a way cool thing! Hope to see you around here more often but I know the bunnies are keeping you busy.
  5. Welcome to the forum Alricka! We're glad you've joined us.
  6. Congratulations on finding Radar and I hope he/she is able to fill that empty place in your heart. I hope you stay on this forum and keep us updated as to how things are going.
  7. Well, I was wrong on this one, but that's okay- she's just a beautiful little girl, congratulations!
  8. That is a wonderful story and it warms my heart. Your kindness and love have transformed Tyco's life and she has also made your life more complete. I'm glad you shared your story with us! Thank you!
  9. I don't have a definite feeling on this one, so I'm just going to guess. I'm going to guess that Loki is a bouncing baby boy!
  10. Roscoe is a beautiful bird. Great picture!
  11. Zero is a beautiful bird. Thanks for sharing those pictures with us!
  12. I haven't dealt with them but I don't think it should take that long. You may want to call them to make sure they got your package. Great photo of your new little one with you and your man. I like both your name choices too! I'm so excited for you!
  13. This is so sad. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you must be so heartbroken but you must not feel like it is your fault. You did the best you could to give your birds the best life they can have and now Caesar is flying free. Take comfort in Greycie now, she will also feel the loss and need your extra love. My thoughts are with you.
  14. I've never heard of a bird flying into a tv but I don't suppose that means it could never happen. You more have to worry about windows, mirrors and open doors (to the outside). If you take your bird around the house and show it the mirrors and windows and let it touch them to see they are solid it helps. You can also put stickers or decals on such things to help them to see them. My bird's wings are not clipped and I love to watch him fly around. Sometimes it causes a little inconvenience when he doesn't want to go back in his cage and flies away from me or if he is constantly flying somewhere I don't want him to be, but I live with these things so he can be allowed to have the freedom of flight. I think it is a matter of your own judgement and what works for you. They should always be allowed to learn how to fly because this helps their self-confidence and helps them to be a little less clumsy- but once they have achieved this it is up to you. If you do have the wings clipped you can always let them grow back out again too- it's kind of like a bad haircut!
  15. Beautiful- and great job on posting your first photo. Now you'll soon be unstoppable!
  16. Great pictures, thanks for sharing Brodieo with us all!
  17. Hello bjm and Goose, welcome to the forum. Everyone else has given you all the recommended suggestions but I just wanted to add that you don't need to pull the broken tail feathers, they will fall out on their own very soon as Goose preens. The only time a feather should be removed is if it is a blood feather and won't stop bleeding. Poor little Goose, he is probably just uncomfortable from his first major molt. He could also be chewing his feathers- has he experienced any major changes in routine or environment lately? Whatever you do, don't react if you see him pulling out feathers or chewing them. Don't give him attention for this or he will learn to associate it with getting attention (which greys truly love!). Try to ignore the behavior and when you see him sitting calmly not picking at feathers then praise him and give him lots of toys to distract him from further damage. I wish you the best of luck!
  18. That is one pretty granddaughter and beautiful birds you've got there- you must be very proud! Thanks for sharing with us.
  19. That is really good to know. I am glad you sent them a letter and let us all know the reply- great work!
  20. Hi Stacy! Congratulations on bringing Taco home with you. I can see you have a ton of questions about him! Have a look in the foods room and read the topic about the peanut debate. Some people don't give their birds peanuts at all. If you so chose to, I would give him only human grade UNSALTED peanuts. Not more than 2-3 a day because they are high in fat. You may want to read that topic though and consider it for yourself. Try offering bits of apple or carrots for treats, or even a few sunflower seeds. If your bird's wings are clipped, he should pretty much stay wherever you put him. Let us know whatever questions you have. I'm glad you are excited about your new friend!
  21. Hello Stacy, nice to see that you've adopted a bird. I hope everything goes well and maybe one day you'll decide to adopt a grey as well!
  22. Hello Ryann and welcome here. It will take a while for your greys to settle down and feel at home. I wouldn't expect to even see them mating for a few months. It sounds like you are excited about them and about the prospects of breeding. I would recommend the book "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker to you. It is by far one of the best I've read about understanding and relating to African Greys. They are certainly wonderful birds and I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavor.
  23. Hi Lisa and Brodie, welcome to the forum.
  24. Hi Dustin and welcome here. Sounds like you have some work to do with your grey but with patience and love you can accomplish a lot.
  25. Poor baby! I'm glad you've gotten Charlie away from that home and now he has a real home with someone who will take great care of him. Just give him lots of love and patience and he'll be your best friend before you know it.
