1. Izzy is a beauty, thanks for sharing with us!
2. Hello Mizbirdy, welcome to the forum. Hope you can tell us more about Piper the Princess. How long have you and your boyfriend been owned by her? Hope you like it here.
3. 8 1/2 weeks old, dinner-time! They love pea pods...

Post edited by: Lyric, at: 2008/12/18 17:11
4. Everyone is so much in the Christmas spirit and I don't feel it that much... I'm trying but I just can't seem to catch it. I've been so busy, feel like I'm meeting myself coming and going. I've got the little birdies in a big bird cage now for most of the day so things are progressing nicely with them. They are eating very good on their own but still being handfed 3 times a day. Lyric is having a hard time with sharing my affections with them. It's time for me to go home so I'm wrapping things up for the day, then it's off to the bank and home sweet home. I hope you can get your decorations up Judy but if you don't please don't feel bad about it- I put up a tree here at work today but won't be doing one at home this year. Have a good night everyone!
5. Glad to hear Sammy likes it there. I'd like it there myself at the moment, here it's gloomy cold and snowy! I could use a little sunshine at the moment. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones and enjoy yourself.
6. Hello Lex and welcome to the forum. You'll find there are members on this forum from all over the world, and many are from the UK. I'm excited for you getting a new grey in January. I bet you just can't wait! Keep us updated and keep researching!
7. When the bird is still very young I think the best technique to use is distraction. Have a foot toy or small treat in your hand and if the bird starts to chew on you give it the treat or toy to chew on instead. They are babies and as babies they use their beaks to explore their world. As the bird gets older, start to tell it "No" "No bite" or whatever phrase you want to use. Then if it continues the biting you can give it a little time-out by putting it in it's cage for 10 minutes or so. They will quickly learn that biting gets them sent back to the cage, which they don't want. I hope this helps you! She- I agree the Beak Book is a great book for a bird owner to read!
8. Great pictures everyone! Looks like all the greys out there are really enjoying the holiday decorations and having a great time. I can't wait to see more entries!
9. Hi Pass135- welcome here! If you don't have a Photobucket account you can also open your pictures in Paint and use the Image Stretch/Skew option to resize your pictures and make them smaller. Usually I resize to about 15-20% and this makes them work on the forum.
10. Hello FurNFeathers, welcome here. It's great you have given a new home to this former breeder bird. You are right about one thing, it will take lots of time to get him to trust you. Have you tried opening the cage door to see if he will come out on his own? If you have the time and patience, leave the door open and let him come out and sit on top of his cage. Do you know how old this bird is? What is his name?
11. Hi Gilbert, glad you could join us. This forum is a really excellent help to any grey owner. Even those of us that have had greys for years can even learn new things here. Plus, it's fun having somewhere to post stories and pictures of your bird where there are other like-minded people to share with. Keep us updated about your new addition!
12. Hi Brian, the feathers do not all fall out at once. It is a pretty gradual process. You will notice a lot of the little white fluffy feathers around under your bird's cage, this is a sign the molt is going on. You may see an occasional pin feather here and there on the bird. The feathers are enclosed in a hard sheath when they first start coming out and the bird preens and breaks this open as the feathers grow. Your bird will lose a feather here and there but it shouldn't ever be completely bald.
13. Great information for any bird owner to always remember- thanks for posting this where all the members and their birds can benefit from it.
14. Great pics, he is a gorgeous and healthy looking grey! Your daughter is very pretty and looks right at home with Eddie on her shoulder.
15. Hi Matt, welcome to our little flock! The others have given you great advice regarding the psittacosis and staying healthy yourself. It's too bad you had to deal with this problem after getting Pablo but luckily there are things you can do about it. It may be that Pablo will never like your son, but he can do things to try to improve the relationship. Have your son be the only person to give Pablo his favorite treats. Have him talk calmly and softly to him and sit by his cage and read to him. Perhaps in time Pablo will come to see him as a friend and fellow flock member.
16. Eddie sounds like a real character- typical grey! They can be such imps sometimes, getting in trouble and then giving you a kiss to make up for it. Glad you are having fun with him!
17. Awesome news! I'm so happy you are doing great with your new addition and sounds like she is well adjusted and settling in nicely. The breeder and girls that raised her get some good karma for doing such a good job. Now your wait is over and the real fun is only just beginning...
18. Rollercoasters are definitely NOT for me either, I like the kiddie rides like the merry-go-round and "it's a small world"! I'm so glad you had a nice vacation and your fids will be so happy to see you tonight- I'm sure their joy at your reunion will be something to see! Hope you can get rested up this weekend from all that walking and sightseeing.
19. Great photos so far everyone! Here's my entry for category 1- winter/fall scene. This is Lyric out on my screened in porch earlier this fall.
20. Hmmm... improving his temperment? I may need one of these for Lyric, he sure has his share of crabby moments. Please let us know how things are going with the lamp and how the bloodwork turns out. Where did you all get your lamps from?
21. Congratulations on your new Senegal. I have a couple of Senegals and I think they are really neat birds. They are very quiet too as far as parrots go. I hope him and Schroeder can become friends in time.
22. Lyric

My angel

That's so sweet. Now she'll be reminding you she's your little angel next time she gets in trouble for something!! You have quite a time with your flock don't you?
23. Looks like your grey is really having a great time. Not a bit spoiled either, right? Thanks for sharing that.
24. I really like the third one, Koko's eyes are so pretty in that picture. It really is cute how he plays on his back, none of my TAGs do that. Did you teach him to play that way?
25. What wonderful news! It sounds like things are going great with both your new greys. I'm so happy you were able to find a place in your heart and home for two greys that needed you. They both sound very sweet. Karma to you for all you have done to help these two.
