Welcome back Bruce and Mazy! Great to see you here again. I really loved the photos of your house too- that must be something to see the northern lights like that. I really can hardly stand the cold and it doesn't get that bad here (MO) but it's bad enough for me. Glad to hear that Mazy and Avi are getting along okay and you all are doing well.

Hi Paul, glad you could join us! I'm sorry to hear about your father too. It's so hard to lose a family member. You are definitely doing the right thing researching all you can before you bring home your baby. I can't wait to see some pics and hear some more about your soon to be new baby grey.

Yes, it's a very hard decision to make. They are both so delightful and so very precious. Lyric is hoping they won't be sticking around- he doesn't like sharing his momma. They all three eat together on a table in my kitchen and Sterling likes to check out what is in Lyric's dish and scares him away. I was hoping they could all be friends and play together but Lyric really isn't sure what they are. Maybe in time he would come to like them? I'm not really sure...I'll keep you all updated and let you know if I find good homes for them or if they are staying in my flock. It's funny, Sterling sticks up for and defends Sadie. If Lyric goes around her then Sterling gets in the middle and stands up to Lyric. It doesn't take much but if he looks at Lyric the wrong way or flaps his wings then Lyric flies away. Watching them interact together is interesting and sometimes total chaos...this morning I had one bird on my shoulder, one on my head and the other in my hands. Their flying is not real predictable yet so I have to really watch them especially when my dogs are around. It's a bit of a balancing act for me I must say!

Hi Steph, I think it's good the baby will be looked at by an avian vet. They should be able to tell what's going on with the bird and hopefully it will be nothing serious and set your mind at ease. I hope you get good news soon!

That's so adorable. Lyric is in love... Happy new year to you and to Ana Grey too.

She went through a lot of changes in a short amount of time, a move, someone in the flock leaving, then the scare with the dog. Since greys are prey animals they can have quite a reaction to feeling like they are in a dangerous situation. She may just not feel safe again yet. Give her time and let her readjust to things. I know it's been awhile since these things happened but it can take birds longer to adjust to things then you may realize. Her personality may remain like this but keep giving her your love.

Hi Terrie, Casper is a handsome boy- thanks for sharing that photo with us. The others have given you good advice- I don't think I'd take the bell away either- why not let him have a little fun with it? He may be a little crabbier if he is being hormonal, but if you watch his body language you should be able to avoid a bite. I imagine the vet was talking about the fact that a female may lay eggs and the associated risks that come with that- that is my guess....however, if an egg was laid, then you would know for sure without a DNA test!

How do you react when she does this? It could be she is just enjoying the reaction you give her, like a giggle or a annoyed sound. Greys love drama, I wouldn't be alarmed by it. I imagine if you start ignoring the behavior she will soon find something else to keep herself entertained. Perhaps it is time for a few new toys?

Birdie love, the slippers would be better but if he was a cat he'd bring you a dead mouse. Enjoy the affection, he's a cutie!

Dan, this is really terrible news. I hope that Kim is doing better today and able to get that capsule out of her through normal actions and no surgery. Please know that all of us here on the forum are thinking of you and her and sending out healing thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery.
