Hi Shannon, glad you've joined the forum. Your two greys sound as different as day and night, but I can tell you really love them both. It's a shame they can't get along with each other. I have a TAG that doesn't like other greys, he was the only chick in his clutch and wasn't raised around other birds. I wonder if that is what happened with either of yours?

Hello Tiger, welcome to the forum! I bet you are so looking forward to the day your baby TAG can come home.

Great job on your foraging tree. Noodles looks very entertained.

Thanks for putting this great information in the bird food room. I think a lot of new bird owners find themselves confused about just what to feed their new companions. I would like to add that vegetables high in vitamin A are very important for the health of our greys. Vitamin A is an important part of keeping their immune systems healthy and it is found in carrots, sweet potatoes and the orange squashes. Try offering your birds baked sweet potatoes and see what happens, my birds love it! Also, if you offer baby food, check the label and get the kind with the most vit A. And, yes, as BaxtersMom said, don't give up on getting your birds to try pellets. Our greys can be stubborn, hardheaded, and set in their ways. Sometimes they fear trying something new. If you keep offering pellets eventually they will try them. And their lives will be better because of it.

Oh, he's adorable. I am sure you will make the right decision. I know you'd give him a GREAT home. Perhaps you could consider giving it a trial run. See how things go with Elmo and how you do handling the extra sharing of attention. If things don't work out you could consider yourself a foster mom and find a great home for the baby to go to. Just a suggestion- I'm sure once you get him home you and Elmo will both fall in love!

I just love TAG's but I think most people are more used to seeing a CAG, also, like Dan said, I think people are drawn by the bright red tails. I have heard they are equally intelligent but the CAGs have a better ability to mimic a person's speech exactly in the same tone of voice, whereas TAGs are more likely to have their own individual sounding voice.

Seems like you thought this out very thoroughly and did your research. I know you must be excited now that the decision has been made. Keep us updated on your new TAG's arrival!

Hi Edi- welcome here! Sounds like you and Darwin are off to a great start. You may never get him to stop plucking and grow feathers back but it sounds like he has found a loving and great home anyway. Have you considered adding some red palm oil to his diet? Keep us updated on your progress with him.

Hello Nina, glad you've joined our little flock! Just let us know if you have questions as you continue your research on greys.
-
Hello Chimaysmommy! I know you must be so excited- will you be able to visit your baby often before it comes home with you? The end of March seems so far away now, but the time will go by quickly if you spend your time researching and learning all you can about greys.

Hello Maceygrey and welcome to the forum. I am so glad you were able to rescue Macey because being released outside could have meant death to the poor bird. We will be happy to answer any questions you have, just go to the coresponding room for the question you have and type away.

Hi EmilyCaroline91- welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are going to have so much fun with Pete and Jasper! I am looking forward to seeing more photos of the two together.

Hi Kristina! Welcome here. Sounds like you do great work working with birds that need a new home. I hope things work out for you and this grey- sounds like it is a great match!

Great pictures! Casper looks very photogenic.

Those are beautiful pictures. Tango is so pretty and really enjoying himself with the legos. Now we need some legos too....

Hello- Hayley, I'm glad George is doing okay! Sheila, sorry to hear about your mother- I hope she gets better and is able to get out on that scooter again. And, I hope you get that foot put back to right again. I'm so happy it is Friday! I just got a brand new cage for my baby greys and it was delivered this afternoon so tonight I get to go home and put a cage together. It is the kind with a removable divider in the middle so if I want to separate the little ones I can, or remove it and let them play together. I think it's going to be really nice! I hope everyone has some fun this weekend and also some peace and quiet time too- Sheila I hope you are enjoying that glass of wine, and drink one for me too will you? Cheers...

Yes, they can be quite high energy at this young age. Plus he just learned how to fly not too long ago and is eager to check out the world around him. As he ages he'll settle down a bit, but I think TAGs tend to me a bit more active than CAGs overall. Sounds like you are doing great with him though.

Hello Rissa, welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place to find out all about greys, everyone on here is just nuts about them. I hope you let us know what questions you may have and have fun too.
-
Hello- Although it takes some time it is actually quite easy to train them to go when you tell them to. As soon as you take the bird out of it's cage, take it to the place where you want it to go potty. Tell it whatever command you decide to use for this, for example, "go potty". Now, wait. Wait until it goes and then praise it highly with excitement (you can even offer a treat if you like). You will have to take it back to this place very frequently and give the command, wait until it goes and praise again. Do this consistantly and they will catch on quickly. They love praise, love excitement and love to make you happy. They will still have occasional accidents and do not punish for this, just praise when they do it right. Good luck!

Charlie is a talented bird- you must be a great teacher too! That was a neat video, I'd like to see him doing the somersalts next!

Hi Rick, welcome here! Merlin is a nice name for a grey. Sounds like he will make your household complete- I hope he makes the transition well. Just take things slowly and give him plenty of time to settle in. Let us know how things go when he gets home.
-
Hi Lyngucci! Glad you joined our forum family. I saw the post about the concrete perches- I'll have to check out your site as well.
-
Nope, Lyric doesn't say his name Sounds like your house is really fun though, I would love to hear them all rhyming like that!

Has anyone taken their bird to Mexico from the US?
Lyric replied to tatdmommy's topic in The GREY Lounge
Wow- seems like it wouldn't be a very relaxing vacation having to worry about all this! I'd take everyone's advice, find a petsitter or a reliable friend, and leave your bird at home while you relax in the sun! Having animals sure does complicate life doesn't it? But, they are worth it in the end!
