Hi there I was raised on Vancouver Island and one day mabie I'll go back. I was going to go back 2yrs ago when I sold my house but my kids talked me out of it. They said that I couldn't because I had my first 2 grandkids on the way and it was to far and the ferry cost to much to visit to often. so instead I moved about 25 miles away to a little place called Deroche It reminds me of where I grew up I was raised in Lake Cowichan anyway I glad you've joined our little family and I look forward to getting to know you and your birds. I have a GCC myself and 2 congo African Greys I Rescued Tyco at 4 yrs old and Adaya I just got she was 5weeks old when I brought her home and now she is about 12 weeks old.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/20 15:46

I usually put Tyco in my room when there are allot of people around and the kitchen is right next to my room so you can hear her she calls me MOM MOM whoops a daisy I need my toys pick up my toys. mom, mom comere mom. as long as she doesn't see the people she will talk her head off. I've been asked so many times who that is. or people say aren't yo going to help your child can't you hear her calling you because when Tyco calls me she call me in my daughters voice. The when I say oh that just my bird talking they won't beleive me till I show them that the only being in the bedroom is Tyco.

Tycos_mom replied to CarolandFamily's topic in The GREY Lounge
YES I agree with that totaly thats why my birds all get along because they are treated equelly no bird gets more or less so there is no need for jealousy. just one big happy flock. -
I have decided that now since Shady turned out to be a girl that the name Shady just doesn't suit her. She is so beautiful so she should have a beautiful name as well so I'm calling her Adaya. I love names that begin with A all my human Daughters have names that start with A so why not my bird daughter as well CAN YOU FIND THE BIRDlolol

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/20 02:29

I hope the the cats calws didn't scratch her in anyway because if so she needs to see a vet you said the cat pounced on her I would get her checked out just in case. cats claws can kill your bird just as fast as their teeth their claws carry poison as well.

Hi just wondering will you be getting another cage so they have their own or will you be putting them together?

This is just sowonderful you must be just on cloud nine. I would be. As for girls with attitude my Tyco is the queen LMAO I love that she is so fiesty and will let you Know right now if she's not happy. Shady Grey on the other hand is just one big baby she would rather cuddle and kiss and snuggle up with you than anything else she is such a little Sweetheart

I will also be praying for a full recovery for Eli Poor baby. Isn't it wonderful to have a vet that actually cares for their patients. They are definatly far and few between this day and age. My vet is very caring also a coulple years ago when my Grey bit off my GCC beak she phoned me three times to make sure he was getting enough to eat and that he was taking his food and meds ok because I phoned her once the day after it happened because he wasn't taking to the hand feeding well. when he got hungry enough he started eating no problem but she still phoned me just to make sure. Its nice to hear that you have a caring vet as well they really are the best. Like I said I'll be sending healing thoughts your way and praying with great intencitity for that sweet baby's full recovery.

I know just how you feel my Tyco has a habit of emptying her food dishe a 6:00 am do you have any Idea what its like to wake up to pellets and seeds hitting the metal tray over and over until there is nothing left in the dishes it takes her about 15 minutes to empty each dis becaus the dishes are locked down so she has to kick the food out. I usuallt take everything out now except a few Pellets because I work until midnight and by the time I wind down enough to sleep its around 2am Its definatly not fun to be woken up by the sound of parrot food hitting steel. just Ignore the bad and look forward to the day he goes on to something else to drive you crazy:laugh:

Any suggestions on getting my CAG to take a bath
Tycos_mom replied to nesha's topic in The GREY Lounge
What i do with Tyco is put a coule inches of water n the tub and the n set her in the water thenI turn the shower on cool finespray but not directly on her .I let the shower fill the tub up to about the middle of her crop she will go in and out of the shower herself. its the only way I have found that she likes except in her water dish of course. and never use any kind of soap on your bird. -
Thanks everyone I'm a very proud mama:laugh:

What an adorable baby I can't beleive that my Shady looked like that not very long ago I got her a 5 weeks old and now she almost 11 weeks and fullyfeathered they grow up just to darn fast.

It doesn't matter as long as your baby gains some weight everyday then your ok. Ithink I answered your post in the nursury and caitb2000 is right about the amount. If you read the sticky on handfeeding in the nursury you will know the amounts and when you can expect to go down to 2 feedings a day.

Gosh I looked at that cage and thought oh how I wish you lived in vancouver canada I just got a massive cage for Shady for less than the price of that cage they are haveing a huge sale on cages at the petcetra in chiliwack British columbia all cages are 50% off I got the biggest cage they carry and it 40x36x54 inside mesurements and I paid just under 300. including tax. I wonder if theres a way I could buy one and have it Shipped to you They had one there the same size as the one in that website for 150. plus tax so it would be around 200. which would be also way better. I wonder what the shipping costs would be.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/16 19:11

Idon't understand why you are still hand feeding your baby at 1 year old most babies are weaned at 16 weeks if your worried about him being full to go to bed why don't you make sure he has a bowl of pellets in his cage at night

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/16 17:03

Well Carol I think you have enough love in your heart and enough people around you that can also help with getting 2 baby's well socialized to grow up and be healthy happy confident Greys. They will have each other also which would just be wonderful. they could play together and learn together. I don't see any bad side only good can come from taking both of them. they are brother and sister and they could be with each other all of their lives what could be better. I don't think that you could do anything more than this awesome act of love You go girl and Judys right girls rock I have girl birds and boy birds and I must say my girls are the best ever my little Shady Grey turned out to be a little girl also Yeah

I have a few really cuddly birds But Shady is by far is the one who will give up everything for a cuddle. She would rather cuddle than eat thats how spoilt she is I must say I enjoy the cuddle as much as she does:laugh:
