  1. If you are planning on housing some of the baby furniture in the rooms that Keywe frequents, such as a crib, or a changing stand, then I suggest that you also put those in place before the baby arrives. That way Keywe will be used to them and won't blame the baby for "bringing" them with him or her. Congratulations on your new baby, and I second Berna's comments well done for not thinking about rehoming your parrot:)
  2. That is really clever isn't it? Ok how about this one :
  3. Oh the flowers are clever:) I'm going to check out the video now.

Hi Terry, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to rehome Rikki but now she has the best new mom imaginable. So at least you can be content that she will have a full and happy life in her new home. Siobhan

  12. Nychsa wrote: I agree:) . I think that what Alex achieved is incredible, but not natural because he was in a laboratory situation, but Bella is just a baby really, and hasnt had "special" training. She has just been treated like the funny little character she is and she still shows such incredible intelligence. They really are remarkable birds and we are very lucky to witness it;)
  13. I am afraid there is no way I would EVER consider feeding creepy crawlies to my greys. I wouldnt even be able to carry them to the car:ohmy: I know they do forage in the soil in the wild, but I'm not exactly sure what they find there?? And I really don't want to find out  :pinch:
  14. From a human perspective, humans need to play and have fun in order to balance out the stresses that occur in every day life. Many people take up a hobby such as golf or dance initially as a means of stress relief. For a human playing with their bird can help to lower blood pressure, and have a calming effect on them. I am sure that it is similar for our parrots. They enjoy the game firstly for the entertainment value but also because it probably has a calming effect on them too.
  15. A vet once told me it was a deficiency in biotin and selenium. I went out and bought a vitamin supplement but noticed absolutely no difference in my grey's beak. I stopped using the supplement. What is actually happening is that the outer layer of keratin is peeling off, and normally the grey will sand it down itself using a concrete perch. If it doesn't you can have it filed by a professional. But it does them no harm, and doesn't prevent them eating so I just leave it alone;) .
  16. Elmo is lovely! He is like the Lord of the Manor sitting on top of his castle:lol:

  22. Why dont you leave a nightlight on for him? My kids dont like absolute darkness either so I leave a light on in the hallway which gives the greys some light also. I never thought about them being in darkness in the wild, now that you mention it:S
