  1. Oh How CUTE:woohoo: She is so tiny!!! Thank you for showing us your new little baby;)
  2. She was just putting it away for you;)
  3. I would just leave him be for a couple of days. His confidence should improve as he gets used to the house, and the animals etc. You can sit close to him and talk to him, or just read a newspaper close by. That way he will realise that you arent a threat. You can also try offering him some treats by hand such as grapes, pine nuts, sunflower seeds etc. Siobhan
  4. Also some greys will only talk when they think no one can hear them. A couple of our members have greys like that. But they are such fun birds even without the talking. Have a read of some of the threads of the silly things our greys do to give you an idea of the fun you have in store:)
  5. Poor little fellow... give him a few weeks and he'll be barking like a dog and crying like a baby! He will join in the general noise and mayhem;)
  6. I am not sure if music would bother them. I can't imagine it would, but mine sleep with silence.
  7. The others have given you excellent advise. The only thing I would like to add is that you have made incredible progress with him already, and it would be better to build on that in the short term. Leave the step up for when he is more confident and comfortable around you;)
  8. I suppose it depends on the grey. Liath is afraid of creepy crawlies of all description even flies! Oisin completely ignores them as if he doesnt even see them. Which is weird because Oisin is afraid of EVERYTHING!
  9. We speak English in our house, but we have certain things we would always say to our greys (and our children) in Irish. They wouldnt know the phrase in English and don't know that it's any different. I never use the English equivalent though as it would confuse them. Liath has a few phrases in Irish;)

  11. Hi Barbara, Welcome to the forum. That was a pretty traumatic start for you and your new grey:ohmy: . I'm glad to hear it is all going well now. What did you call him? Siobhan
  12. Welcome to the grey forums. I am sure you will like it here, we all do Smoke is a great name for a TAG. Was he named already when you got him? How is his first day? Does he seem to be settling in ok? Siobhan
  13. Tarnold!!! Where have you been? I have been waiting for you to defend me:P Well Dan, thanks for trying;) They are getting so cute each day now and are really starting to interact with each other and with us. Judy their squeal has to be heard to be believed. It starts as soon as you walk into the room and continues long after they have been fed. And its multiplied by 4:ohmy: But we are definitely not keeping 4 of them. I am slowly working on my daughter to keep my favourite:) Siobhan (tiels Aunty;) )

  15. {Feel-bad-00020072} That is seriously disgusting:sick: I think you will have to sit her down and explain about no go areas... inside noses being one of them:laugh:
  16. You are doing so well! That is astonishing considering his past that he will let you touch him at all without taking your finger off:ohmy: Have you put some food and toys in the new cage? Its sounds like he likes it already and you may be able to move him in sooner rather than later.
  17. Hi Renee, Welcome to the grey forums. Congratulations on your new grey and well done for taking in an older grey. Siobhan
  18. {Communicate-0002011A} Definitely not!
  19.  I honestly think I've heard it all now!! You ate the dog treat!! Oh I wish you'd had a camera:laugh:  :silly: Yes they are salty but my birds have had them for a long time and havent managed to actually eat any of it. There are beak marks here and there, but none actually missing. A dog on the other can and will eventually eat parts of the raw hide. I still can't believe you ATE it:whistle:
  20. This one has to be the funniest email I have EVER received! I can definitely relate to this one I am on year 19 so now its "Have you paid the life insurance policy up to date?"  SEVEN AGES OF THE MARRIED COLD 1st year--The husband says, "Oh, sweetie pie, I'm really worried about those nasty sniffles you have! There's no telling what that could turn into with all the strep that's been going around. I'm going to take you right down to the hospital and have you admitted for a couple days of rest. I know the food is lousy there, so I'm going to bring you some takeout from Tosini's. I've already arranged it with the head nurse." 2nd year--"Listen, honey, I don't like the sound of that cough. I called the doc and he's going to stop by here and take a look at you. Why don't you just go on to bed and get the rest you need?" 3rd year--"Maybe you better go lie down, darling. When you feel lousy you need the rest. I'll bring you something--do we have any canned soup around here?" 4th year--"No sense wearing yourself out when you're under the weather. When you finish those dishes and the kids' baths and get them to bed, you ought to go to bed yourself!" (my personal favorite) 5th year--"Why don't you take a couple aspirin?" 6th year--"You oughta go gargle or something, instead of sitting around barking like a dog!" 7th year--"For Pete's sake, stop sneezing. Are you trying to give me pneumonia? You'd better pick up some tissues while you're at the store."
  21. That's a great improvement for him isnt it? I am sure when you arent in the room he plays with them as well. Once he knows what to do with them and he isn't afraid of them any more he will play when he wants to. Good job;)
  22. Thanks guys - for the comments about the babies. I shall pretend the Granny comments didnt happen:angry: They are all still doing great. They are getting very loud though:S It is unbelievable how 4 little babies can squeal so loudly whenever I walk into the room. Pat I know exactly what you mean, my daughter and I are already arguing over which one to keep, I want the white one with his beak open and she wants the littlest fellow. But I'm the mother, er I mean the aunty so I should get to decide shouldnt I?

    Splay Legs

I don't know much about the condition. I would imagine at this stage you probably know more than most vets do as you have been researching it so thoroughly;) But it sounds like you are doing the right things giving her flat surfaces to perch on but still with varying heights. Jesse doesnt know that her condition isnt normal and I am confident she will adapt very well. Especially since she has such a caring owner .
  24. Have you thought about a harness? It would be easier to bring her round that way if of course she would accept one.
