  1. Hi and welcome to the grey forum. Congratulations on your new baby. You will find lots of useful information here especially in the nursery room. Dow is a great name. If he has any insider info on the stock exchange, please share! Siobhan

  3. Congratulations! Your baby is HOME:woohoo: He is doing brilliant isnt he, considering that journey! Yes I'm with you on the peeping thing. I couldnt contain myself either when my guys came home. And sure he caught up on his sleep later didnt he? It wont harm him for the first day or 2:) I have a question for you though.... where are the pictures?????
  4. Great picture:lol: Just wait till she starts answering it:S
  5. We can feel your excitement:P You are going to have so much fun with this little fella. I'm glad you got sorted on the seed mix, and good luck moving him to pellets. Can't wait to see lots of pictures and hear lots of news about your new grey;)
  6. Hello and welcome to the grey forum. I am so sorry to hear about Shadow and Poco. That is so sad. But it sounds like you have your hands full now with Skippy and Scookie. I can't wait to see lots of photos of your 2 greys, the one in your avatar is very cute Siobhan
  7. Hi Stephanie, Welcome to the grey forum. I am sure you are delighted to be getting your birds back, particularly since you had had them from when they were babies. I am sure the relationship they have with you will be different than it was before, but with patience you will be able to improve it to where they love you again;) I look forward to lots of pictures and stories about your grey and your quaker. Siobhan
  8. Just another idea here... when he is trying to take a bath in his water bowl that is a perfect time to give him a bigger dish of water in the bottom of the cage. He may just start using it instead;)

    Water

I use well water from the tap. Whatever temperature you it give him at, within 30 minutes or so it will be room temperature anyway, so don't worry about it too much. In warmer weather Liath loves ice cubes floating in her drinking water, She dunks them and plays with them
  10. That's a long list:) ! But you have plenty of time to narrow it down. How long before you know the sex?

    BEAK

Yes she does look amazing against the blue wall:laugh: Looks like the sky!
  12. Hi Zahra, Three months is a little young to be completely weaned but once he isnt losing weight I wouldnt worry too much. It does sound like he is begging, you could feed him a warm spoon feed in the evenings such as oatmeal or baby food if you want to be certain his crop is full before going to bed. Siobhan
  13. I think once you know your own limits timewise and financially and stick to them, MBS is not such a huge problem. If you think that you can happily accomodate a third bird, that you would enjoy the third bird, and that it won't have a major impact on Baxter and Bonkers then go for it;) Once you know that the bird is for you and not as a companion for the other 2 birds, because there is a high probability they won't get along as well as you might wish. I think they might be aggressive to each other, but you would just make sure that they can't actually access each other. Liath tormented my caique, landing on his cage and generally bugging him, so I moved his cage to a different room where she cant go. When I take him out, Liath is put away. Multiple birds takes a bit more logistics than just one, but you know that already from having a conure and a grey;). I wish you the best of luck with Tiger, because I know once you see him, you will bundle him up in your jacket and bring him home!
  14. Hi Darkmocha Welcome to the forum. I admire you for taking on an older grey, and I imagine you will get great satisfaction knowing you have improved his life so much. I can't help you with the details of where to buy a mix without nuts as I don't live in the US, but it has to be possible as it is unfortunatley a fairly common allergy:unsure: There is lots of information here about bringing home a new bird. I am sure, having worked with birds before, you know the drill, give it time to adjust, don't expect too much too soon, patience, patience and more patience;) I look forward to hearing all about your new grey, and when you get a chance some pictures would be nice;) Siobhan

  16. So does she fly off as you get near the cage? Can you hold her wings? Liath lets me hold her body with both hands for a cuddle so I can carry her that way to the cage if I need to put her away in a hurry, I cuddle her the whole way to the cage and then pop her in at the last minute. The look on her little birdy face is priceless when she realises she's been had... again!

  18. Arizona? I think not... way too hot for me:laugh: Send us a postcard when you get there Tracy!
  19. I have had a similar problem with Liath lately because I changed Liath from the upper deck to the lower deck in my two storey cage and she didnt like it at all. So when it came time to put her back in her cage she went mad. And then I realised that the only time I was making her step up was to put her to bed. So I started doing the chasing routine and then when I'd catch her I'd sit down on the chair and chat to her and cuddle her and then let her go. After a couple of days of doing that she started to believe that me making her step up didnt necessarily mean bed. When I did need her to go to bed I would cup my hands over her wings and cuddle her close all the way to the cage and into the cage so she couldnt get away. Let me just warn you though, the first few times I did that I got some bad bites:unsure:
  20. That is a great cage! Who is the grey in the picture? Well at least now you can start counting in weeks instead of months;) And you actually get to see your baby grow up. In one way I wish I had done that. I only met both of mine at 16 weeks.
  21. Of course I will, I've been practising my best Irish accent;)
  22. Here is the only avian vet in Ireland http://www.veterinary.ie/
  23. We don't mind sleeping! We can record it
  24. I brought Liath home in the early afternoon while my kids were all out. That way she had plenty of time to look around before 3 faces started staring in at her. I did take her out that evening and she didnt want to go back into her cage at all, she was perfectly content to be cuddled. Oisin came home around the same time of the day as Liath, he didnt want to come out, and didnt want to be handled, so we pretty much left him alone till the next day. He is still the more nervous of the 2. You will know by her which way to go. I'd imagine you are so excited it will be hard not to keep her with you 24 /7 for the first while;) The most important thing to do is make sure you have batteries for the camera ready:P
