  1. You're right Pat, today is not the day to make a decision like that. Please wait a little while and think about, and maybe a reminder about the glass for all of them in the meantime;) Siobhan
  2. He probably does, and he's thinking you're not putting me in that carrier and having that evil person poke and prod me, I'm staying RIGHT here! Keep us posted;)
  3. Yes it is extremely frustrating. I must admit I get a serious case of the green eyed monster, when Liath abandons me to gaze lovingly at my husband when he pops his head in the door. And I'm the one who feeds her, cleans her, plays with her and generally dotes on her all day long:S
  4. Cagal08's post was about pets and not specifically birds. Are nuts toxic to our cats or dogs? I know my dogs love to hoover around the bird cages and eat any nuts or seeds that fall (or are thrown:angry: ). Should I be stopping them doing this?
  5. Well be sure to let us know how you get on, it may just help someone else in the future. How is he now?
  6. Hello and welcome to the grey forum. Please tell us a little more about your grey, what is his name etc. As DarkMocha said the most important thing you need to teach your baby right now is the step up command. This way you can have him step up and put him where you want him. I believe getting on your shoulder is a privilege that should be earned when you trust your bird. I allow one of my greys on my shoulder, but not the other as I dont trust him enough. Here is a thread on teaching the step up command. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/training/92640-teach-the-step-up-command.html Siobhan
  7. That is so sad, and so unexpected. Poor little fellow
  8. Hi Tommybar Welcome to the grey forums. You certainly have a lovely collection of birds. I am looking forward to hearing all about them! Siobhan
  9. Hi Mick Welcome to the forum. Personally, I would be thinking about a vet trip to have him looked at. Head shaking on its own is quite normal, my 2 do it all the time. It looks like they have something in their ear and are trying to shake it out. But the combinaton of the trance and putting his head back doesnt sound normal at all. And since you have reason to believe he may have hit his head, thats all the more reason to consider a trip to the vet;) Let us know how he gets on! Siobhan
  10. Oh my, I really hoped when the vet said he could go home that he was improving I'm so sorry Siobhan
  11. Hi Ccable and Harley, Welcome to the grey forums. It gets better, mine used to just throw the food, now she throws the whole bowl:(
  12. The only thing you can do to reduce screaming is ignore him completely when he does. Get up and walk away. This denies him the attention he is obviously seeking. Unfortunately, the screaming will get worse before it gets better, as he will scream for longer and longer until he realises you arent going to respond. I'm just curious as to whether any people in your building have children? Because I believe that a grey is normally no louder than a two year old throwing a tantrum. I wonder if they would complain about that?
  13. That is one lovely picture, truly shows the love between a grey and his owner! Karma for you;)
  14. In your shoes, I would do the same. I know the vets staff are probably very caring and look after the animals very well, but I think being home with you at this stage probably gives him the best chance. If you can give him his medication then he is definitely better off with you;)
  15. I am really proud:) It has been really tough, scary at times, but overall very rewarding. We decided to keep the grey, who we've called Baby (cos he's the youngest) because she has the sweetest nature, is really cuddly, and just adorable. We were originally thinking of the eldest as he was Rosie and Jims first chick, but Baby just stole our hearts:kiss:
  16. That is so cute the way Tucker whispers calm down buddy back to you! I find if I whisper to them they stay quiet so they can hear what I am saying!
  17. As Matthew mentioned a warm meal might be the way to go. You could feed him some oatmeal or a jar of baby food (unsweetened) from a spoon. Do you think he is eating but wants a handfeed as well? Or is he not eating at all? If its the latter I would consider a checkup at the vets;)
  18. It would be brilliant if it was his grey! Let us know wont you?
  19. I have given Rescue Remedy to my daughter with great effect prior to exams, it definitely took the edge of her fear and calmed her down visibly. I have never used it, nor thought to used it on my birds! It is certainly something worth considering;) BTW the post was moved as it is not strictly to do with training, but something that could interest all grey owners.
  20. I would eat that myself! Perhaps next time you could prepare a dish for your wife also and she will be content;) BTW is that a recent picture of Kip? The reason I ask is that his beak is in beautiful condition. Do you think that is his diet?
  21. Hi Kate, Welcome to the grey forums. There is lots of information here for grey owners. And we would love to see a photo when you get a chance;) Siobhan
  22. You guys have great faith in my Liath, from where I was sitting it looked like she was trying to make the defects and unpick my stitching:laugh:
