Oh yes I totally agree patience is the key with these little buggars lol. Finally after 3 months I can finally have sweetheart sit with me and not fly away! So you go girl! For those who wait good things will come!!

Is the top of the cage flat? I have a play top on the cage, it came that way actually but I'm sure you can safely attach one if the cage top is flat. Put some posts and they have this rope that has two ends to it where you can attach it to the cage kind of like a perch, well it is really but flexible, you can put this outside the cage and turn the rope so it's like a little adventure from one side of his cage to the other, but on the outside of it. Use posts outside and hang some toys on them. Just some ideas. I know Cockatoos love this, but they like more toys in thier cages than the greys do, but don't go over board just a few and things attached to the outside will kind of be an adventure

I bought one of those triangle swings that lay flat with the little circle ring up top for them to play with, and hooked it to the top of her cage, it is higher than all her other perches and that is where she sits 99% of the time when she is actually in her cage. She is mostly just in there for at night, and first thing in the morning till I get all dogs and everything done, so I can be in the same room with her. But she loves that swing to perch on and fall asleep.

Well Perry I can completely relate in all kinds of ways lol. We have a farm too, and a little problem SweetHeart! But all I can say is patience is the key! Perry lets you take him out of the cage to go to his day cage. That is a plus! He does like your attention just not in the handle me kind of way. That's like my sweetheart. I don't know how old Perry is now, but Sweetheart is 9 months old and we are still working with her every day and it's a chore and I see little things every day that pay off now FINALLY! But don't let Perry on your shoulder for the next bite could be worse! Does he have a fav food? Try feeding that to him and only letting him have it when he takes it from your hand. Does he have a favorite toy? That is what I found with sweetheart, she likes bells, I had this toy I never put in her cage yet and thought well while I'm trying to bribe her to sit here with me I'll let her play with it, turned out she loves it but I only let her play with it when she's next to me. Don't give up on Perry for I totally know how you feel. If you can give him even just a half hour every day of making him stay with you and taking food from your hand, chances are he'll come around. They are flock birds and want to be with others. And your doing good with when he bites, don't let it show, and I know how hard that can be, but I figured I've been kicked by a horse I can take a parrot bite lol.

2 of my kids are redsers (red heads) as well! My husband and I are brown so I had to fire the milkman Not only have I heard of Lord of the Dance, I have seen it! Many years ago in Dublin. I loved the show, but Flatley was full of himself. My kids play that kind of music. We have fiddle, flute, bodhran, guitar and whistle, so we often have music sessions at home. None of them dance though Where are your family from? I have seen what they called "Feet Of Flames" when flatley was doing that, but now his show of Lord of the Dance is back, he isn't in it anymore, he just produces it. So can't wait to show the kids! This will make you laugh! I have no idea where my family is from!? I was adopted and raised by a 100% Sicilian Italian woman (my mom) and pretty much 100% Hillbilly lol (dad is a mix, he has some Indian in him and not sure what else!) I do know I have some Irish in me for I have it on my Birth Cert. And than when I had kids, the red hair showed! I have natural red highlights in my brown hair, and hubby has brown hair as well but in his goatee he has mainly red. So don't know much of my birth families history, but it's there somewhere lol. Thank you Fairy. I liked the 3rd one as well.

Thanks Judy! I think we are in a part of WV though that doesn't really get too much. We have lived here for 6 years now and the most we have had is about 5 inches and it melts away pretty quick. Now in Ohio where I moved from it was common for us to wake up to 1-3 foot of snow in one night. So this is nothing for us lol, but is very pretty! Glad you all liked them!

I love the kids playing in the snow! I can't believe they didn't call of school today because of it! My kids 12 & 9 were wanting soo badly to stay home and play lol. We haven't really had a snow that stayed very long yet this year. West Virginia is in the Eastern Part of the US. Your from Ireland wow! I have history there! Both my kids have the red hair to prove it lol. Have you ever heard of Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance? We are taking them to see that this Friday actually.

Melissa they were set at the auto on those ones. I have some features that I really don't know about and the book doesn't tell me much. I have these options iso- high sensitivity-shoot without flash in low light reducing blur portrait- focus tightly on subject Advanced sport shooting-set focus in anticipation of subject moving twilight portrait- shoots portrait in low light with flash landscape- shoot landscapes with distance twilight- shoot low light scene with out flash movie mode manual exposure shooting-? Aperture priority shooting? Shutter speed priority shooting? Program Auto- auto exposure with adj. settings And no perfectparrots I don't mind at all you saying that. I do look at the bell really good before I buy a toy, not to mention she only and ONLY gets this toy when she is sitting by me. It's my bribe to get her to sit with me cause I have had major troubles with her. So she is 100% supervised with this toy. All her other toys as you can see in the other pics are wood and rope and plastic. -
Right behind her cage is some candle holders that I have hanging on the wall. Don't worry I don't use them anymore lol. But she loves to play with them! And there is a couple in there that she was trying to bath in her water! If I would have had the camera set right, the might not have turned out soo blurry, but thought I would share! Oh and the one with her on the chair, with me and her toy, is where we are making progress!!! She at least sits with me to pose, and play lol.

Post edited by: TalonSis, at: 2008/02/13 16:17

We had rain last night that turned into a little bit of snow this morning here in WV. I thought it was soo pretty. We only got about 2 inches but this camera took a couple of awesome photo's I wanted to share! The first two, is the road to our house! You can see it's barely big enough for one car. We live at the top of the mountain and you have to take a ridge up to get to us.

Ahhh ok just wondered. I remember him giving such good advice on here and just hoped nothing had happened to him. Thanks Judy!!

We paid $800 for our TAG and the breeder also sells CAG's for $1,000. Weaning for this breeder was a definite no doubt, she let sweetheart go a little too long I think, but guess better safe than sorry. SweetHeart was 5 and half months before she was weaned. I do think that is part of our problem with her trust now with us though, being she basically had those 6 months to bond to her breeder. But we are working through it lol. The cost to ship her was another $125.

Has anyone seen Dave around lately??? He was on my friends list and now he is no longer there. I hope everything is ok. He was a very nice man, just wondering if anyone has heard anything from him? If I remember correctly his name was MrSpock.

Post edited by: Ronda477, at: 2008/02/13 14:32

Cool tracy I will try the toy in the water, I have tried the pan thing already and she won't go, but maybe the toy will work, found out she loves bells! -
Well thank you siobha!
-
They were almost all action pics, that's what I loved about this new camera! The green stuff is just a stick of celery lol. She throws the majority of her food, don't think she really eats any of the veggies lol. And thanx for the comment!

LOL Tari I have to agree, we have had our Quaker for 9 years now and we are still learning from her. And she changes her attitude all the time lol. So it's constant learning with her lol. Great to hear hubby is getting to be with her as well!
-
Glad everything went well for you!!

I have tried and tried to bath SweetHeart! I lightly mist her from the top, the side every where and she just lets the water roll right off of her. Does anyone have any more ideas? She isn't plucking, but I know they need to bath. She tries to in her water dish about twice a week or so, but only gets her belly wet. I have tried to show her how much fun our Quaker has while she is bathing and she doesn't care! She wants nothing to do with the 7x11 pan with water or the water bottle. Any Ideas???? Thanks!!
-
Yes Casper some do like this, our Quaker loves it! My husband just takes the pin feather and rolls it between his index finger and thumb, the usually come right out. And they are kind of uncomfortable for them, so just read how casper is doing and if he lets you than great. If not, like lyric said they will come out just will take a bit longer.
