No problem Lisa that is what we are all here for! Trust me! As for the two cages that is fine, whatever works for you and Brody! He seems to know where night night is and that's great! As for the time outs, why is it that you are giving him those? If he gets too out of hand I would still just suggest the time outs in the cage, the reason for that being, is because even though they seem to like it there, they are flock birds and would much rather be with you. So if he does something and you put him in there away from you and you turn your back on him and don't talk to him for about 5 minutes than he will know, oh wow, when I do something I get put in here and ignored. They want you to love them no matter how hard they try not to show that lol. I have def learned that with SweetHeart. He is still very young and just testing his boundaries. I wouldn't give him too many time outs just yet, cause a firm no no no, may work as well too, for it does SweetHeart still. If she starts to go for a finger, I just say "No no no!" "No bite" and she stops in her tracks. I have yet to be bit hard. And I say yet cause I know there will probably be the day. But in the 4 months I haven't yet. And don't think you are bothering anyone! I know you had said you still need help, that is fine hon! Ask away! It's better you ask, than do something that could hurt your little sweety, like putting him in the bath tub. I'm sorry but that just isn't right lol. I don't think the carrier is a good idea and the only reason for that being is, he knows his cage is safe, and if he associates the carrier as bad than he won't like to go in it when it comes time to take him on a trip or to the vet. So I would avoid that one. But maybe another member would disagree. He knows his cage is safe and he knows he would like to be with you, so without stressing him, he is being punished, by not being with you and getting your attention. Keep us updated hon! We are here!

OK GET THIS! I'm sorry but I'm just soo excited! After 4 months of not getting any reaction out of her or her flying the other way this is just awesome for me! And honestly no one understand but everyone here! Jessie and I were on the floor with her this evening. First time in a very long time. We put all dogs up and put her toy on the floor along with some peanuts. Well like she always seems to lately, she favors me, hehehe, I do still want her to go to everyone though. So I handed her to hubby and she just wanted to climb to his shoulder to fly to me. So he put her on his knee and than she tried to fly to my knee. I went ahead and put her down on the ground and attempt after attempt she just climbed right back up on me and to my shoulder but would just sit there happy. Not trying to fly away like she has in the past. And I wasn't far from her cage so she could have attempted if she wanted. Well I put her back on the ground and stood up this time, hoping she would waddle over to my husband still sitting on the floor. She waddled over to me and started up my pant leg!!! So I got her and brought her to me and pet her for a sec, and than gave her back to hubby. Well she just kept going to me. I have to say I was very tickled. Normally she would just avoid both of us and go back over to her cage and climb up it. Instead she climbed up me and followed me like a little pup! I can't tell you how excited I am. I actually have little butterflies while I'm typing this and it's now 3 hours past lol. I just wanted to share, cause like I said no one really understands, besides hubby, on how the joy is when something like this happens. Thanks everyone for supporting and being here when it has been what seems like the most terrible time. I haven't been able to stand that we get a little baby and haven't been able to barely touch her. And I know we have lots to come, but this is just AWESOME! Oh yeh and not to mention I think this may be something too, she took a peanut from my hand and was eating it on my shoulder!! Made a mess, but I don't care! And yes on the kids turning into brats lol. My 12 year old daughter is going on 17! And she hasn't even had her womanly thing yet lol!<br><br>Post edited by: Ronda477, at: 2008/02/26 06:16

A Brunette, a Redhead and a Blonde escape a burning building by climbing to the roof. Firemen are on the street below, holding a blanket for them to jump in. The firemen yell to the Brunette, "Jump! Jump! It's your only chance to survive!" The Brunette jumps and SWISH! The firemen yank the blanket away. The Brunette slams into the sidewalk like a tomato. "C'mon! Jump! You gotta jump!" say the firemen to the Redhead. "Oh no! You're gonna pull the blanket away!" says the Redhead. "No! It's Brunettes we can't stand! We're OK with Redheads!" "OK," says the Redhead, and she jumps. SWISH! The firemen yank the blanket away, and the lady is flattened on the pavement like a pancake. Finally, the Blonde steps to the edge of the roof. Again, the firemen yell, "Jump! You have to jump!" "No way! You're just gonna pull the blanket away!" yelled the Blonde. "No! Really! You have to jump! We won't pull the blanket away!" "Look," the Blonde says. "Nothing you say is gonna convince me that you're not gonna pull the blanket away! So what I want you to do is put the blanket down, and back away from it...

Loved them! I was going to leave you some comments but they were disabled. I may have missed it somewhere but how old is Fawkes?

Yes I agree with everyone else. It is completely normal, I had thought the same thing when I got my little one home. I now just keep it comfortable for all of us. I have learned that as long as you are comfy your birds are comfy. I do lower my heat at night not too much. I set it to 65 at night. She does just fine. I cover her cage with a blanket at night just because of all our animals we have in the house. But it's normal don't worry! Did you introduce yourself?

Well that is some family! I thought I had a bunch with 5 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses, 1 TAG, 1 Quaker, 1 Cockatiel, soon to be 1 Cockatoo, 10 chickens, 1 Duck, 8 Guineas, & 1 Lionhead rabbit! Woohooo I think that's it! For now! They are all very nice pics! I should do that too, great idea MommaFawkes!

Yes please let us know if that works, like Dan had said there are other members here as well that could benefit from that if it works, and when it comes to our babies, usually as long as it works, cost doesn't matter. So hope it really works for you!
-
That is great Kimmie! I know I can't wait for our baby cockatoo to get here either! And you will have such fun with your baby! We learn more and more every day with SweetHeart. And still after 9 years with our Quaker Molly! Keep us updated!!
-
Yes please introduce yourself! I am from Ohio originally and we now are in WV. So would love to know more about our new neighbor lol.
-
Well nice to meet you and Mitra! That is very nice how you named him. It's always interesting when you hear others names. My TAG SweetHeart is also 9 months old and doing the same thing you are saying with saying things under the breath lol. It's interesting what you hear. Well glad that you joined us and we look forward to more pics to come!

yvette, I wouldn't attempt clipping his wings unless you have done this before. As far as him getting away in the Vet's office, he/she will know how to get him back, don't stress about that. Look further into though on if you want him clipped for the long haul, cause they do tend to stay gone for anywhere from 3 months to almost a year sometimes. So it's a long made decision when you do it, not just because of one visit. I haven't gotten a scale yet either to weigh SweetHeart because we are still working with her as well on trying to handle her. But you may want to get one just to show him it and he can get used to it being he is a little older than a new little baby that may not be willing to accept a whole bunch at first. And he does seem like a little tease with his head lol. I'm sure in no time he will be letting you do that!
-
Yep we just sit and wait lol. No really we can't wait to see more pics, I loved looking at all your pics! Again if you need any help just yell at me! But if you ask nicely I'll be more likely to respond lol

Hi Cali! Welcome to the forum! There is a woman that is very nice her name is Janice. Her business is called The Feather Hut. She is on here from time to time, if you would like to talk to her. She has a website which is www.thefeatherhut.com She has a 4 week old baby Timneh right now, that was just dna'd and it is a little boy! We are in the process of getting a Goffin Cockatoo off of her. He will be ready in the end of March beginning of April. If you have any more questions please feel free to write me! As far as Ohio though that is the only one I have run into that I could personally suggest to you. I know there are others but I have not dealt with them. And honestly Janice is very nice and will answer any of your questions and concerns. She sends weekly pictures too!!!!

That is just great Jeff! So glad you are able to bond like that with Tiny! I think being able to do be with them younger is a very big plus as long as you know everything to look for and it seems you are doing very well. Welcome to the forum! Hope to see some pics as well soon. There aren't many TAG's on here. I am one of them, so glad you could join us!

LOL Judy see that is the thing, every day for the last 4 months I have offered her foods. She only took it for the first time today and she was in her cage when she did it lol. I had the door open cause she was just in there eating her sprouts and playing. But that was the first time since we got her and she is offered quit often. That's why I thought it was such a big deal lol. And thank you MommaFawkes she has her very up and very down days lol. But slowly she is getting better

I can't wait! That is really awesome to hear! How old is Fawkes?

LOL Raposa thank you! If you only knew lol But she has come a long way. Little by little.

Well I just had something happen that made me happy!{Feel-good-000200A2} I was sitting here eating some chicken and rice. SweetHeart kept eyeballing me so I asked her if she wanted some? I went over to her cage, she was sitting on her swing inside and I gave her some off of my spoon. The breeder had always said she would know to eat off a spoon, but she has never done this for me in the 4 months I have had her. She was actually eating it!!! If you have read my posts before on her, you would know that she doesn't seem to eat people food real well. She throws it, but doesn't eat it. I don't know if it was because it was pretty warm or what, but I was tickled that she ate it!!! Thought I would share!! Hopefully this is just the start of a bunch of good things to come! I'm working on a little video of her. Hopefully I can get that posted before too long!
-
You know that is what we were hoping for! Our Quaker that wanted nothing to do with anyone else but my husband started letting our daughter pick her up along with me a little after we got SweetHeart. So just maybe that will work with her too lol. And we found out it's a boy, we are naming him Casper. Thanks!!!
