Hi ajlinva & Welcome to the forum.If you have never owned a grey before i would advise you to have a read through all the topics here to gain as much knowledge as you can.Re-homing an older grey can be very rewarding but you will need time & patience with him,older birds tend to come with baggage unlike babies.Be sure you are fully aware of the commitment you need to take on this grey.

Hi Amanda,are your food bowls kind of in the middle height of the cage or higher ? Personally when i brought Alfie & Freddie home i had perches no higher than halfway up the cage,their food bowl level.I put old towels on the bottom of the cage covered with newspaper to soften any falls.Each week i moved the various perches up a few inches,but i found in the end they both were very efficient climbers & would climb higher then the perches anyway ! I would start to move their food bowls off the floor & raise their perches

Well maybe it's because A parrot's beak is made of keratin, just like human fingernails, they may be attracted to the nails,it is a fairly common occurrence, i personally would discourage it

Nice set up you have there Mark for Max, i have the java perches & they are very good,But you can never find a long one which i believe siobhan needs to run the width of the cage. Have you been down to the woods today Siobhan ?
