  1. Well im sorry but it sounds to me that the vet isnt very good, yes greys can pluck due to the stress from seperation from their owners, but we need more background on the grey, age, how long your friends had him/her,etc.. Greys can pluck for many reason, poor diet, health issues, lack of stimulation, any recent major changes in routine ? new family member, the list is endless.. I just tried the search facility & " feather plucking " brings uo old topics .

  10. As siobhan rightly said we have numerous topics on feather plucking, use the search facility at the top of the page to bring up previous threads.Has your grey been checked out by an avian vet to eliminate any medical issues for the plucking ?
  11. I have heard very similiar stories from grey owners who swore blind that had put their greys to bed only to find them in the morning sitting on their cage. You can use cable ties to secure the doors on the feeder you dont use.

  16. 1.. At 7 weeks he is very reliant on you & your family for his needs. He sees you as his flock, make the most of cuddle time, it is comforting for nike, he will soon enough be independent. 2..Babies make all kinds of mumbling noises,a happy content grey will grind their beak when resting/sleeping a bit like a human grinding their teeth. 3..Many people let their grey eat with them, they love to interact with the family & share dinner with you,it's a personal choice if you want nike at the dinner table, you can begin to offer a little human food, ie..veggies, After your baby reaches 7/ 8 weeks of age it is time to begin introducing weaning food.Pellet food is a safe food to start weaning your baby onto with the addition of seed, fruit, veggies. Also have a separate water dish next to his food. 4..try to distract from going under the cage, if the seed is empty he will only get the husks,& yes they can choke so close supervision. 5..Once Nike is fully feathered you can give him a little mist from a spray bottle, spray above his head & let the water fall down over him like raindrops
  17. Well i have kept indoor budgies & avairy budgies & im with Siobhan here on the eating. From observing mine over the years i can say that none of mine have spent all day with their heads stuck in food pots.Like the majority of birds they feed in the morning after a night of roosting & fill their little crops again before bed.
  18. Hi Meike & Welcome. 21. I don't personally recommend letting your grey drink tea & coffee is a big no big no no.100% natural juice, unsweetened or organic is best as an occasional treat, including cranberry, apple & carrot .

  23. No problem, good luck if you decide on the cage.
