  4. Interesting Dan, thanks for posting that BTW Toni's calling you a smarty pants
  5. Great advice Pat for a short term safety solution
  6. You need to double check with the airport & airline your travelling with to clarify the situation for you. We have a welcome room, why not pop in & introduce yourself
  7. Chlorine has to be used carefully, but it is harmless when used in very small amounts as a disinfectant to treat drinking water. It is absolutely essential that drinking water should be safe to drink and contain no harmful bacteria capable of causing disease. The addition of chlorine in small amounts at water treatment works gives maximum disinfection action before water reaches your tap. I wouldnt be too worried
  8. Georgie,Dean & Will Welcome to the forum,we are glad you have joined us & look forward to hearing more from you We have members from all over the world but there is quite a few from the UK myself included
  9. Be carful when you warm formula up in the microwave as you tend to get hotspots,be sure to test the temperature before feeding. At 20 weeks your grey really should be fully weaned, how many feeds are you giving a day ? I have included a link on handfeeding for you to have a read through... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73409-handfeeding-a-baby-grey.html If you pop in to the bird food room there are many threads full of information.Your baby is not showing aggression he is probably getting excited by the noise of the microwave & associates that with his feed.
  10. Wow congrats, please keep us informed now wont you ? We shall look forward to your updates.
  11. Hi & Welcome to the forum,we are pleased you joined us.Look forward to hearing more from you
  12. Misty that's why i have asked for a details of the greys daily diet/feeding routine There is no harm if offering a warm hand feed but not on a daily basis,a grey can become reliant on it & lose interest in eating solid foods. My 4 greys are 18 months to 3 years of age & every now & then i offer them a warm feed in the evening which they all relish, the positive side to this is in any event in your greys life you have to administer medicine it's easily done if your grey takes food from a spoon.
  13. Yes we do Mine 4 in the bird room have a vast array of toys which i have spent a fortune on,yes they play with them but they seem to get double the pleasure from the toys i make myself, which in it's self is very rewarding for me I know here in the UK Toys specifically manufactured for parrots are extremely over priced,i hate the fact that im helping to line some fat cats pockets
  14. Sounds as if the hand feeding may be stirring up feelings from when he was first handreared. He may find it comforting.Does he eat anything else in the morning after you have fed him ? What is a usual days diet for him ? I doubt very much that he is sick
  15. Thanks for updating us Meg on Refund,as joey im pleased he got a clean bill of health. The pair of them are good weights too.Given Refund's new life let's hope he does stop plucking in time. Yes he sounds a pretty straightforward man & yes people do want to own a grey purely because of the potential of them speaking  As you can see my pet hate they have far more to offer than just mimicing
  16. Pleased to hear you have it under control & there was no lasting damage
  17. Thanks for a great update on Joey Patrick.I'm pleased all went well & she was given a clean bill of health.Good news on the PBFD too sounds more than a competent avian vet look forward to hearing good news on Refund from Meg.
  18. Ideally your grey should have at least 10 hours of unbroken sleep, i dont advise disturbing him/her when you get home from your shift.Maybe some of our members work shifts & will be able to share the routines with you. We have a welcome room, why not pop in & introduce yourself
