Ear Biting

Hi Teko's dad welcome to the forum. Please stop using the spray bottle as a punishment. If you have a playstand return him to it & walk away, dont show him any reaction when he bites your ears,If you dont have a stand return him to his cage for a few minutes & again don't react just a very firm NO in a stern voice.eventually he will see that biting your ears gets no response & no rewards. If you have a look around the forum there are topics concerning wing clipping.
4. What a sad story.Your friend has to do what he feels is right for both birds. There is no reason why he shouldnt take the grey in, but it may not be simple as the grey is old & will be attatched to the current owner & set in his ways.If it was me i would consider visiting the grey to see if he could establish a friendship & let the grey become fimiliar with your friend,If possible could your friend take his grey for a visit to,keeping them in seperate cages etc..see what reactions each grey has. Both greys could live happily in seperate cages, after time they may be let out together with close supervision on the other hand they may not get on & will have to come out at seperate times. It really is a lot to consider & how much time your friend has to give both birds.
5. Hi & Welcome to the forum.Nice to have you here.A busy house then Look forward to hearing more from you.
6. i wouldnt house them together.Freddie may well object to a stranger in his cage.Greys can be very territorial about their cages,I would advise a second cage for your new grey.Introducing them to eachother must be done with close supervision, you never know how any bird will react. They are both very young & hopefully they will become friends,if they dont then they may at least tolerate eachother.I do hope your lucky & they have a great friendship.Keep us informed when you get your baby home.
7. Congratulations Dan, you are our eyes & ears for all the news
8. i have three greys all are talkers,in fact they don't stop ! sometimes they talk like me in a feminine voice & sometimes mimic my hubby with a deep voice. It is always noisy here but they do seem to have got louder over time. not all greys are the same like us they have different personalities, some are quieter & shy & some are loud & boisterous.
9. good job connie,goldie is a cutie.
10. Ahh bless they look like they are smiling
11. Remembrance Sunday is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. On this day people across the nation pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave Service men and women. Please spare a few minutes to reflect & say a prayer for all those servicemen & woman across the nation serving today & all those who sacrificed their lives.
12. As a species, they’re known to be quieter than many other parrots, with softer, pleasant whistles, jungle noises and gurgles & they can scream/screech.Enjoy all the greay baby sounds Lisa
13. lovely picture Tari, i love to share your birds
14. Hi Trish have a read through the topics in the bird food room there is a lot of useful information in there regards feeding. As for treats/rewards i use pine nuts as my three greys go mad for them, you could use raisins, the occasional sunflower seed, small pieces of grape etc..Anything that you know is your birds favourite

Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/11/10 23:42
