1. :blush: Thanks ! But, it was nothing, really.... As all here, I just want the most natural and best for my new Baby :-)
2. Judy - Yes, we took the Female back Sunday evening. It would not eat and had lost about 50 grams. The only thing that Dayo screamed at more than the spiked Hair, was the vacuum cleaner. I guess I will need to use Geoff's tactics and throw it in the Cage with Dayo until he gets over it... {Emotions-0002007D}

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/08/07 14:33
3. We are so cautious regarding fumes, that when my wife dyes her hair, we open up the house and turn fans on to divert any of those ammonia and other fumes completely away from the Parrots. I know that stuff even burns my nose :woohoo:

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/08/07 14:27
4. Yes, both my Parrots sneeze throughout the day also. I am also going to check any packaged mixes for an over abundance of peppers and Ester-E Affy! :laugh:
5. judygram wrote: Well, Dayo will be in a constant state of shock then...nothing is ordinary in the people, activities or stuff getting re-arranged in this house. Dayo, is one of the most adaptable to change I observed in the 2 Clutches and the most adventurous. He is not afraid of anything, except a 3 foot tall child with spiked Hair :woohoo: :pinch: :woohoo:
6. I have been reviewing what the contents are of various pellet foods versus what a Parrot in the wild would eat and also what seed diets contain. Since Harrison's seems to be what some advocate, I am posting it's contents. Harrison's ingredients: *Ground Shelled Sunflower Seeds, *Ground Hulless Barley, *Ground Soybeans, *Ground Shelled Peanuts, *Ground Green Peas, *Ground Lentils, *Ground Yellow Corn, *Ground Rice, *Ground Toasted Oat Groats, Psyllium, *Ground Alfalfa, Calcium Carbonate, Spirulina, Montmorillonite Clay, Ground Dried Sea Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Sea Salt, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, d-Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite. Personally, I prefer feeding "Natural" foods in their natural state that makes that Parrot "Work" for it's food in hulling and cracking open seeds, shredding leafy veggies etc. But, if you look at the ingredients, they have done nothing but ground up the seeds for your Parrots and "Shocker" PEANUTS are ground up n the Harrison's.... I personally give my Parrots peanuts, human grade only and check them before hand. Just some food for thought. :-)
7. Thanks Makena! He looks like a very happy and adventurous little camper. We do love photos :woohoo:
8. Cool Pic's Geoff :-) The all look like the water missed them though
9. She is afraid and attacking the Toy as you suspected. My 4 year old Grandson just walked into the room with his hair spiked up....Dayo Growled very LOUD and fluffed up with Beak open ready to attack if He came any closer. :ohmy: We Combed his hair down, everything's fine now :laugh: The only thing I can figure out, is it appear as a small human with their feathers flared up as if they are going to attack :woohoo: Sounds like a very intelligent Girl!

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/08/06 23:39
10. Welcome MPR86!! That is a great looking Baby CAG! The full blood panel would be good along with an Avian Vet check up. As you mentioned, since you don't want the blood taken from a Nail Clip, the Vet visit will be the right time. The Cage is plenty of room for your CAG to have fun in and flap his wings. Again, welcome to the Forum and thanks for posting a Photo right off the bat. :-)
11. YaY!! I am happy for you!!! You won't sleep the last couple of nights before you pick up your CAG! {Emotions-00020074}
12. LOL Talon! A guy's gotta try! :silly:
13. Mmmmm. Mmmmmm Pancakes are good for us too :-) Now I have an excuse to make some...... Oh! Hi Kim, everybody on the Forum said Pancakes were a requirement to keep your Grey healthy and strong ... :woohoo: YOu want some???

My Grey

Hi Toni, I agree with Judy, poor guy is probably getting poked at too much and has decided to start letting people know that it's NOT ok. He could have also just been exhausted? If the bite didn't break the skin, but was applied with strong pressure, he could have been indicating that too.
15. Thanks for passing this information! That's one I'll need to watch for if I ever switch Brands of foods. Welcome also! When you have time, it would be great to hear more about your Grey and also see some Photos. :woohoo:
16. Hi CD, Yes, we are indeed overflowing with Joy :-) I hadn't paid attention to the number of posts..maybe I talk too much On the Photo of two Greys, I can't figure out why it's grainy? It is a 7.1 MP Fuji with optical zoom and as you can tell the auto-flash was used. Do you any expert advice?
17. Talon, Thanks for posting this. You teach dance, jog, run a business of your own, help with the farming, raise your children, care for horses and your Grey, ride a motorcycle, drive a tractor, admin and post ....etc. Do you ever sleep? :woohoo: What an interesting life you have and do lead! Thanks for shining your brightness into our lives too here on this forum!! :woohoo:

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/08/06 12:50
18. Heatherstrella, Wow - What a strong, giving and special person you are! To do, what you do, for the deaf and handicapped can only mean that you are a very rare one of a kind person that provides a much needed service. Few are willing to take on that challenge. Thanks for sharing this and all the great photos, sunshine and love that we all receive from you! It is rare to find this and I bow to you..... {Characters-00020078}
19. Thanks Lidia! I feel another picture story coming on....your first was great! Talon you are right, you can feel the love and acceptance from all here. :laugh:
20. Pryde, I know what you, these guys can burn up 12 hours in a heart beat. :-) I get the Aviator harness today and cannot wait to put in on Dayo. I hope I get as good a reaction as you on the harness. Actually making it for a walk the first try seems fantastic!
21. Judy - Your right, I can see the difference in personalities after the day with them. Thanks for the free acceptance, at that price I'll take a double portion! :-) We had to take the Female back to the Breeder last night, her weight was down 50 grams last night. It seems she appeared to be eating a lot, but in reality was just beaking it? Dayo on the other hand is doing great and just eating everything we put before him. If you could see all the varieties of soak and cook, seeds, veggies and fruits we had out for them, you would think you were at a smorgasbord :-)
22. Hi Kathleen and Welcome! It's good to hear you have some normalcy back in our life now and that you all made it through intact :-) We look forward to hearing more from you and seeing photos of your Parrots.
23. Well, I just brought a Male and Female home. So far, the male (Dayo) is now wanting to just hang out on my shoulder and preen (Yes, sigh, I can not help it...Dayo is too sweet and gentle) :-) The Female wants to be with my wife mainly and gives me little warning nips before letting me get her to step up...she just barely tolerates me. But, these are both only 14 weeks, one is at our house for the first time and the Dayo the Male has been here 3 times for visits. I think they both prefer females though, due to the Breeder that has been feeding, weaning and fledging them being a female. I suspect their personalities could change from month to month at this early of an age through adulthood. I'll keep you posted over the months and years ;-)
24. Great Photos Pryde!! Are You having as much fun as I am? :woohoo: A rhetorical question of course, I KNOW you are!!! {Communicate-000200D6}
