  1. Great tips Traci!! Thanks for posting this :-)
  2. I agree with others, if it is to get you to react, which may be the case, just ignore him as you have now started to do. Some just like flinging food sometimes too as LoveMyGreys noted. Good luck and please keep us updated. :-)
  3. Congratulations Christoph!! Can't wait to see photos and what you decide to name your new Grey :-)
  4. Great photos and Video Jimmy!! :-)
  5. Great thread for a morning laugh..... {Feel-good-0002006E}
  6. Welcome Shelmae and Gomez!! The others have asked great questions and given good advice. There is no doubt that Gomez is very protective of his home (the Cage). He sounds like a very active and socialized Grey and seemingly has chosen your Husband as the preferred flock member to get close with. Perhaps your Husband could use that closeness and trust to slowly work on having Gomez accept him slowly just placing his hand in the Cage with a treat he loves or perhaps watching from the outside of his cage while you do odds things such as clean, put fresh food in etc. Maybe he is already ok with that? I am certain others will have many great ideas and perhaps direct experience with this cage issue.
  7. Welcome mom3b1....!!! Wow, what a wonderful and lucky Grey you have there. As Judy stated, if at all possible, I would keep him and work on that building that closer relationship with him. Either way, a new owner would first need to spend a lot of time just try to be accepted by him. You already have that acceptance, now you just need to build the closeness in, which I would think in your feeding and spending time with him each day, he will just naturally start interacting more and more with you. Please let us know if you have any questions or keep us updated as this progresses. We love Grey's dearly and only wish the best for them and their owners. :-)
  8. Welcome Heather and Gizmo!! What a wonderful choice you made in rescuing that great Grey! It sounds you are all taken with each other and building a bond that will last for life. Looking forward to hearing more and seeing some photos when you get a chance. :-)
  9. Welcome carynn and IamCTM!!! Sorry for the late entry here, but I just wanted to say hi to you both. :-) As Judy has indicated, we love our Greys and also those of the others members here. We're just a big family that love to share our Greys tales, photos and videos with each other and help when anyone here needs it. Looking forward to hearing more about you and your Greys and seeing some photos!!:woohoo:
  10. LOL Lisa!! Actually, I am glad you and Reta reacted so kindly to my post. I just blurted out my initial reaction to the site due to being so busy here at work putting together our 2008 Business Plan and having just come out of a meeting in a "Testy" mood. I appreciate the way Reta initially responded with a objective good summation of her thoughts on the food contents, rather than the website. :-) So, if I offended anyone by my response, well I guess those are my true thoughts on the website content. But, to be objective and answer as Reta did. The food itself looks like a blend of veggies, legumes etc. that most of us buy fresh and provide to our Parrots daily. It is by no means a miracle diet or a base that anyone should consider as sufficient for the good health and well being of your Grey.
  11. Thanks for the photos! Boy, you weren't kidding when you said he is plucking!! I hope all the suggestions you have received him that poor guy. :-)

    Broccoli Rabe

Thanks for the thumbs up by all of you. I am glad some of your Greys found it fun and enjoyable to eat at the same time. :-)
  14. I looked at their website too. I am a Christian, but their websites home page with the testimonial and then how God will bless their and everyone else's life through becoming a distributor and working form home turned me off and actually infuriated me. I HATE prosperity preachers and the unscriptural message the teach their flocks. Sorry, but this is the kind of stuff that gives Christianity a black eye. The only miracle in this diet, is the money they are tying to line their pockets with. Ok, off my soap box now. :-)
  15. Nice Photo Tracy, I'm am so jealous that you can readily obtain the natural food they love and eat in the wild. Soldier probably thinks the "Cooking" is much better at your house now, than previous owners. :-) Wish I could find people in my close vicinity that would go in on a 50lb order. That's the smallest shipment the grower in Florida will pick and ship.
  16. Ronda477 wrote: Hi Ronda - Glad I could help you come up with more questions than answers. :-) That will teach that work place a thing or two. ;-) Now, to be serious. The extra time you are spending with Sweetheart will help tremendously. You have indicated it already i. The actions you are taking with her and getting rid of the Ball-Caps ;-) and allowing her to have some freedom choice wise all sounds great. It still sounds like time and patience along with the efforts you are putting forth will pay off. It's also great to hear she is becoming more vocal and paying attention to what is being said around her. Looking forward to hearing updates more often, now that you don't have anything else to do ;-)
  17. Please try spraying him down at least 2x a week with Aloe Juice as previously mentioned and also pick up some Red Palm Oil and add 10 - 15 drops of it to his breakfast cereal, eggs or whatever it will mix in nicely with. These have also been known to help Plucking Greys. Most all of us here on the forum use these products religiously :-)
  18. chapala wrote: Chapallah, that is great advice and what I practice with Dayo also, now that he is starting to realize he has a choice and would like to make it sometimes. :-) Lis - If there is no pressing reason that you need to have your Grey step-up, just let him be where he wishes. :-)
  19. That's really cool Tracy. I believe you said you thought he was also a wild caught Grey? If so, he may not only be falling in love with Coco, but he wants to be back with a flock of Greys too, I would suspect. It's wonderful to see him blossoming with your loving and gentle ways. :-)
  20. Hi Ronda!! I am so happy for you that you had an exciting moment with Sweethearts tonal interlude. :-) You are so patient, it is inspiring. It sets a great example for us all. I know you love sweetheart so much, yet are not seeing that in return as far as head scratching and just sitting on your Arm or Hand, but it will come. Maybe you could tell us how she reacts now when you try things and some of us can offer some suggestions. :-) Just want to help you and sweetheart to "Get Together"!!
  21. Welcome MBW!! Looking forward to hearing more from you. :-)
  22. Welcome sexy!! We'll look forward to hearing more about your 3 Greys. :-)
  23. Welcome Tasha!! You've come to the right place for information and a great family atmosphere. Looking forward to hearing more from you. :-)
  24. HI Abdullah, It's great that you are researching and taking your time in deciding which way you wish to go in getting an African Grey. Rescuing one is sometimes costly and time consuming if they require you to take classes with them on Parrot up-keep before they consider letting you adopt one. But, it is good for the owner and the Parrot so they get off to a good start. Just keep being patient and searching and destiny will take you to the Grey that is waiting for you. :-)
  25. Welocme Matt!! That's wonderful. Taking in rescues is such a loving thing to do. It sounds like you have taken your time with him and have a lot of patience. He will learn over time, that you are he friend and new companion.
