  1. Welcome Versatile !! Sorry to hear your Grey is perhaps sick. Please let us know what the vet finds. This is an odd behaviour and will be informative for all of us as well. :-)
  2. Yep, they love their "One" enough to regurgitate, but I'm keeping my mouth closed from now on!!
  3. Thanks for posting this. It's good to have you here still. :-) Talon - You are so right in writing versus talking with tonal inflections and facial expressions to go along with them. It is impossible to read a persons "Tone" and sometimes we all get miffed, due to taking a matter of fact statement in a cold way, as that is how text reads with out happy faces :-) sad faces :-( and wincing faces :pinch: or even just a few haha's, woohoo's :silly: or whews! I have really pissed a few people off unintentionally myself  just by hammering in a response with no regard to how it reads or may come across. Sometimes I just state the "facts" and move on due to lack of time. Then the next thing I know, Judy is slapping me around   Great responses everyone!! B)
  4. Nice photo, it sounds like he settled right in to his new home. :-)
  5. Welcome Stacy!! I see in the instant message window that you brought home a Yellow Crowned Amazon for rescue, Congratulations!! :-) Now you will really have a lot of questions, comments and photos to show us. :-)
  6. Thats a HUGE step forward, congratulations!! I can see you beaming in your post. :-)
  7. Nice photo Linda! Very cute, thanks for posting it. :-)
  8. Welcome Doostur!! It sounds like you have a wonderful new baby CAG there. Thanks for posting those GreYt photos of him. :-) Looking forward to hearing and seeing more.
  9. Congratulations btdaycare!!! What a wonderful new homecoming. I can only imagine your hear pounding trying to get out the door before your new Grey took to flight, possibly. It's GreYt to hear all went well and lots of kisses and head scratches for all were given and returned. :-) Looking forward to hearing more and seeing some photos.
  10. Thanks for rescueing a mistreated Grey Julie!! He will soon learned that not ALL females are evil. They are very intelligent and know when someone is "Ok" after they observe there actions for a while and slowly start in interact more closely with them. As others have said, time and patience is required, but you seem to be applying that and are committed to it. Looking forward to hearing more from you. :-)
  11. Welcome Lisa and Brodie!! It sounds like you are doing everything right in giving him space and time to adjust to the new and improved living conditions. He has taken to you and the new home fairly well from the interaction you two are already having. :-) Looking forward to hearing more and seeing some photos when you get a chance.
  12. Welcome Linda and the whole flock!! Wow, what a flock you have there. :-) It's wonderful that you rescued starburst and sugar. It sounds like they did indeed have a lot of baggage, but you and family have certainly handled it well and have come to know their quirks. Thanks for writing such a great introduction. It's always nice and informative to hear of others flocks and the antics that go on. Never a dull moment, is there? :-) Looking forward to hearing more and seeing some photos of your flock in action. We love photos!!
  13. Awwww, great photos. Thanks for sharing those!! :-)
  14. Yep, Dave hit the nail on the head. A Sales gimmic that they have a "Special" and "Rare" bird for a very high price of course. The bottom line is it is a forced mutation. The point is, they can breed together and produce a mutant offspring. The resulting babies will suffer for it due to health issues and shorter life spans in most cases.
  15. If possible, sit the new cage next to his present one and let him explore and get used to it. Maybe put a couple of his favorite toys in it and some treats. See how he likes it after a few days. If it's a hit, then make it his permanent cage. :-)
  16. Erika - Great photos, especially the wing span shot...BEAUTIFUL!! All - thanks to all that have contributed to this thread. :-) Keep it coming!! Hopefully, we will soon have an official Rescue Room!!!
  17. Just for you - http://www.last.fm/music/Pink+Floyd/+videos/+1-Pd3Ft9HNzZ4 :-)
  18. OUCH Haggis, your a member for certain!! RuannsGreys - Birdtricks is all about making money. In my opinion, they are a waste of money and give faulty advice in many cases.
  19. Thanks for sharing this photo. They certainly are a different looking Grey. I prefer the Red Tails contrast though. :-)
  20. It's Tuesday and you probably haven't slept much. :-) Nice cage!! Can't wait to see the photos of Loki's "Touch Down". :-)

    Avian Vet

I agree with the others, change vets. Unless your grey is showing abnormal droppings, lethargic, loosing weight or displaying some other sign of illness, it is unlikely anything is wrong.
  22. Try all the different nuts, Pinenuts (shelled and roasted whole in the shell), walnuts, almonds, chestnuts (Shelled) almonds in the shell, pistachios (non-salted) etc. His tastes for foods will change as he grows older. Always keep offering different and the same foods over and over. Sometimes they will eat them, sometimes they won't. :-)
  23. You can selectively breed any pair of critters with a trait you wish to amplify. It is actually a genetic mutation that the breeder keeps amplifying. In doing so, the "rare" genetic breeding line is much less strong and hearty as a non mutated species. They become more prone to other genetic issues, health issues and live shorter lives. They may be values by some as "rare", but infact are a mutant.
  24. Enjoy your new Greys and become even more impressed with them. Read, Read, Read, ask questions and you may be ready for breeding season when it starts in the spring. :-)
