1. You've received many good comments on your circumstances and choices. I think you have good options either way, but you need to do 2 things, whats good for you and whats good for the birds. Thus, it will be a win-win for both.
2. So you found him in only about 9 hours? That is wonderful news!!! Please tell us how you retrieved him...Please. You know we all wanting to know and it will helps others perhaps IF they ever lose one of their Parrots. :-)

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/28 15:56
3. Good vibrations are coming at you!! :-) Does the breeder have any clue as to why these problems are happening?
4. Awww, Darwin sounds like she is coming along nicely and your all enjoying each other immensely. The photo is a GreYt head shot, well done!! :-) Thanks for posting this update.
5. Thats wonderful news on Spocks flight abilities after plenty of practice. :-) Thanks for the update.
6. My birds sleep according to their own beat, it does seem to be strongly tied to the natural circadian cycle ruled by the Daylight hours. I thought others might be interested in the number of hours of Daylight according to the Latitude they live in. Most our Parrots all come from the Equatorial zone, meaning Daylight is a constant 12 hours all year long.

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/28 14:29
7. What a cute video, thanks for sharing this precious moment. :-) Karma to you.
8. Welcome Wang!! We have a few other members here from Austrailia. Hopefully they will see this post and help you out. Adelaide is a large city, perhaps you could get a lead from a pet store, vet office etc. also that might know a breeder. Your right, the Internet is full of scammers and especially from Cameroon and surrounding areas. I wish you well in your search for a Grey. :-)

picnic

What a wonderful photo story you have made of that picnic. The scenary is beautiful and Koko really seems to be enjoying it. I think he needs someone to open his water bottle for him though. Thanks for posting this and Karma to you!! :-)
10. Welcome Jennifer and Congratulations on getting your new Grey soon!! Yes, a smaller sleep cage for your Grey in your bedroom when your father or other visitors come over is fine and will keep the peace nicely. Looking forward to hearing more from you. :-)
11. Welcome knj41!! It's GreYt having you here and looking forward to hearing more from you. :-)

If this is correct, you have lost his trust and he is fearful of you. It is not about hate, it is about fear and trust. This can only be mended over time by you being close, but not trying to step him up or give him treats directly from your hand. Lay treats down a foot away and praise him. Talk to him gently at all times and praise him when you even see a glimmer of positive response. He will come around, but may not at the level of trust, head scratches and cuddles you may have had previously when he was a young baby. I do hope this works out well for you over time. But for now your father has become his trusted friend.

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/28 01:10
13. Oh no, I am so sorry to hear of this terrible event Jen!!! It sounds like you have covered all the bases, so I assume you have posted in all the internet sites as well. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a quick return.
14. I think it all boils down to their interests, wants, needs and social interaction they desire like "Wanna a scratch", "Where's Mommy", "Want Out", etc. It seems to be that they are learning to thrive in the flock by learning it's ways, just as they do in the wild.

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/28 03:01
15. What a fun looking basket filled with toys you have gotten for Mischief!! It's wonderful to see and hear how he has blossomed in your loving home. :-)
16. Thats a good question Char! Whisper is certainly a highly intelligent young Grey with that vocabulary. :-)

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/28 03:02
17. Very cool thread. :-) Fond memories of Dayo in the "Hospital" nursery before bringing him home.... 6 weeks... 8 weeks.... 10 weeks... Dayo 12 weeks... lemme outta the slammer, I want to see you, you taking me home yet?? Ok, I'll stop, I have a million photos of him from 6 weeks to 16 weeks at the breeders....... :-)
18. Well, Ecko has now found a new area to make his own playground. Good luck with stopping him now. :-) Our wine rack was taken over by Dayo and it has been his official perching and playground area for a few years now. You might as well start adorning it with hanging toys and getting used to it, maybe even get a bigger one... ;-)

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2009/06/27 14:11
19. Welcome Diane!! It's GreYt having you here. Many greys flip themselves around in the top of their cage as you describe. It looks very odd doesn't it. :-) As Judy said, they can get out of this position anytime they please. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
20. Congratulations Janet! Great incentive idea to see our fellow members. :-)
21. Awww, that is so sweet. :-) Dayo loves to flip over on his back a s well on the hand just when he's relaxing with us in the evening. It all started as you describe, turning him upside down using two hands and then just letting him lay upside down until he decided it was time to right side up himself.
22. Cool, waiting to see photos and videos of that new Atom in action. :-)
23. Sounds great Dusty and believe me, we are all happy we found this place with it's GreYt and helpful people. Thanks for posting this. :-)
24. There is no doubt that Alfie is one happy camper after that shower. Now whether he is happy because he took one or because he done with it. :-) Thanks for sharing this video.
