Please help my Zoe... she ate 1/4 of an avocado last night
2birds replied to Zelph's topic in Health Room
What great photos of your Zoe, you can tell that you guys loved her very much. It's pretty hard but I think the best thing is to tell your daughter the truth, it's usually the most appreciated. -
It sounds like she knows where he is going and that he will return. It's really neat that they are such great friends.

I don't think different launguages would confuse them at all. It's just a matter of learning like everything else.

Wow, that's pretty neat It's really interesting that there diet is lichen and fungi.

Bringing her outside would not be a great idea. Just too much going on. I work for the railroad and it's just too busy, too many people and too noisy out there. In our office it's just our crew usually four of us sometimes five. One of the guys was a little afraid of her but he didn't want to admit to it. He asked me if he could hold her and put his arm out with his eyes clenched shut and she climbed up on his arm but had no desire to go up any further. I came and got her because she wasn't so sure of him. I would never force her on anyone that was truly afraid. Bad things could come out of that.

I thought of that. I take the interstate to work because it's faster. Going home I take to the country roads, virtually no cars at all. I know it's no guarantee, but she was flippin' over that little cage for the day. Bottom line is I'll have to get a bigger cage for the office if she is going to go with me, that way the travel cage won't bother her so much. She was just in it for too long.

I am so sorry to hear this, I can't even imagine how I would feel. My thoughts are with you and your wife. -
Well, Poet came with me Friday. It had it's pro and cons. She was in her travel cage on the car ride there and she climbed around a lot. I work outside so she stayed in the office in her travel cage which is much smaller than her permanent home. I did come in and check on her several times and she was just hanging out although I'm sure she would have appreciated a little more space. She spent lunch with us (about two hours). She liked all of the guys and went to everyone without fear so that was great. She loved hanging out with one of my coworkers Dave. Good pick, he's a great guy and a good friend. She chewed his ear for a while and got head scratches. On the ride home I just let her out once I got on the road. She loved it. She hung out on the top of her cage and preened, stretched, played with her toys, chewed the buttons on my shirt, chewed my ear and sassed me when I told her to stop it. For the most part it was a success and I will probably do it again.

My goffins cockatoo also loves her spoonful of oatmeal with a little bit of chopped up apple in it every night. I don't have a problem with continuing the hand feeding. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing with the baby.

Pretty neat, I like it.

Kilaya is growing into a beauty. What a sweetheart. Is he/she eating better now?

My baby has her own phone, gutted of course. It's just the shell but she loves it.

I agree with you Nancy, I would never force a bird to go to someone they didn't want to. For the most part, we work outside so she would be hanging out in her travel carrier in the office. But, a lot of times we will have a lunch that last about two hours and we come in several times during the day so she can hang out with us and listen to everyone talk and if she wants to see people up close she can. The only problem with taking her to work with me is God only knows what she may learn to say. Our conversations are pretty open and I work with a bunch of great characters.

I have a question. I would like to take my baby to work with me once a week. I thought that it would be great for socializing her. The only thing is I can only bring her once a week. In your opinions, do you think that would be good for her or would she come to expect it and freak out on the days she can't come with me? I am gone 6 am until 4pm on Thurs. and Fri. Right now she can hear the other birds but can't see them and I also leave the radio on. Anyway, my thoughts were to bring her on Fridays for socialization.

Ok, I'll keep it to a max. of two. Sometimes she is really satisfied with a head scratch.

I am so sorry to hear this devastating news, this really could have happened to anyone. Thanks for posting to help other people become aware.

That's really great that Sophie likes everyone. That how I want my Poet to be, so I will make sure I do everything in my power to give her that opportunity.

The first couple of days she would sit on me but didn't want me to touch her. Now she begs for scratches and pets, so she's decided that I'm ok. She does eat plenty of her pellets and I've been giving her new stuff. Greens, carrots, apple, and sweet potato. So far she has liked everything I've given her except a noodle that I offered her. She just looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting it. Oh, and she wasn't too crazy about watermelon either. She mostly begs for the formula when she hears me clanking around in the kitchen and the water is running. She must associate that with her food.

A lady I met had her macaw trained perfectly. When he was getting into something that he wasn't supposed to he would tell on himself. Whenever she heard "Bad boy" she would go check. Love the photo, it's so typical of these hoodlums.

Thanks Nancy, The breeder did send formula to give her just in case she wants it, and she does. I give it to her at night before lights out. I am a little worried about giving it to her too many times a day as I don't want her to regress. Would it be ok to give it to her more times in a day if she wants it?

Really cool post, thanks.

The hepa filters are great. I bought one for the bird room and absolutely love it. It cut down on a lot of dust in the whole house. Now I'm going to buy two more. One for my room and a bigger one for the kitchen, dining, and living room. No more dusting every other day. Yay!!

Can anyone help find a cat rescue in DFW area
2birds replied to katana600's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
My niece felt horrible because two pregnant momma cats started hanging around so she started feeding them. Now there are eight babies on my porch. I know how it is. Your common sense says no but your heart can't help but to help them. I will try to find homes for the babies and get the mommy's spayed and continue to feed them. You will find a place for your kitten whether it be with you or someone else.
