  1. He as been living with me for over 7 years. And he is around 25 to 27 years old. I noticed he was mumbling a couple weeks ago. You know how they do when they practice. Well Saturday he was mumbling and he said Pretty Bird. And my niece claims she heard him say Hello yesterday. Now how cool is that after all these years.
  2. Some birds are different I guess. Mine just nibble all day and they are both very healthy birds.
  3. No there is nothing wrong with them. They just like to eat. Have yet to met a budgie that didn't. Yes they preen and chatter a lot too but they also eat all day long. Little at a time. Maybe your needs to be looked at?
  4. Post: From siobha9 "My 4 budgies must not be normal. They eat very seldom and small amounts. They spend most of their time grooming each other, playing with their toys and chattering. Tari if your bird is eating all the time, considering its small size, I would question whether it has some digestive problem?"
  5. Ok thats weird I edited my post and one of the post here went poof. If you would like to repost it please do so. Thank you and sorry about that.
  6. I love blue crowns. Be sure you QT him away from your other bird for 45 days and get that well bird check up. Is he a sweet bird? Great picture thank you for sharing.
  7. I have two budgie's and they are healthy and eat all day long. But he is still getting use to the place and may take a few more days before he well eat in front of you.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/05/19 13:05

  9. Great pictures everyone. Get your pictures in today. I well be closing this sometime this evening or early morning. So if you have plans better get going.:woohoo:
  10. Yes it can be as much as 2 weeks before he starts to chirp. Sounds like your doing great. You are my hero. I am trying again to tame Pepper cause of you. lol He is one year old so may take longer now but it can still be done. Stick with it you well have a tame loving bird in no time.
  11. I would remove it. If he starts to "like" the other budgie he may not like you as much and make training harder. You can try it later after he is very tame and see how it goes.

    What bird is this?

Sorry I do not know a lot about softbills. Maybe someone who does well come along soon.
  13. LOL your not tired of looking at blue quakers? Gee maybe I need to post a ton more of them.
  14. Oh good going to stop at the store then and get the stuff I need to make the homemade pinates. I hope she likes it. lol
  15. 1. I feed mine the same as i feed my other parrots. Mix veggies, fruit, rice, pasta, millet and some seed. Sometimes part of a boiled egg with shell. 2. I would go to your vet or find your local parrot club and have one of them show you how to wing clip. 3. I would wait at least 48 hours. But some people say not too. Here is a good website with a well written guide to taming a budgie. http://www.lisashea.com/petinfo/articles/bird_hand.html Hope that helps some.
  16. In four days. It is hard to believe she well be 1 year old. I still think of her as a baby. I plan to give her a whole spare of millet and get a new toy this weekend. Got to get her use to it so I can put it in the cage on the 20'th. And some time outside in the travel cage. Don't really want to do a lot of new things cause the day is for her and I want her to have a good time. Does anyone else do things for their bird on hatch day? Or am I a nut? She is the only one I have that I know the date and month and I raised her from day one so wanted to do something special. Oh and I hope to get some great pictures too. Maybe something I can get framed.
  17. I just love babies. What a cute bird you have there.
  18. So is there an amazon you Dad can be around first? Cause honestly my RLA has just as much dust as my TAG.
  19. This is a link to a taming plan I would recomend for you. I know it is for budgies but I think it well work just as well for your partly tame tiel. http://www.lisashea.com/petinfo/articles/bird_hand.html
  20. She is home and on three different meds. She can get around but she looks like she is drunk. Not falling over as often. I go back in 10 days to have her looked at. He was very nice about the bill too no over night charge and a discount on the office visit. He feels we should have a good recovery and that other then the stock she is in excellent health.
  21. So your no longer trying to tame him? Then give him a mirror and a bigger cage. If you are trying don't give him the mirror and clip him so he can't fly away. The feathers well grow back. Be consist. Pick a training plan you want to use and don't change it and do it ever single day.
  22. If you want to tame your tiel I would advice against the mirror. Beans might get to attached and not care anything about spending time with you.
  23. Well I talked to the vet again. While they are not 100% sure it is an inter ear infection, might just as easly be a stroke. They are still very hopeful for her recovery and it well be a few days before we know how much of one. She is doing well and ate some so that is good. Still very wobble on her feet and they want to keep her over night too keep an eye on her. I'll know more about her in the morning. They did do blood work and all that come back perfect so that is a sign.

    My Teil

I fixed the pictures so they would make viewing easier. He is a cutie.
  25. I still think it would be a good idea to take your Dad to a pet shop or a breeders to see how he does with the dust.
