New budgie

You can upload them to someplace like photobucket then size don't matter and then someone can fix them for you so they don't take up so much room. Or you can resize them to under 500 pixels.

Lying on back

If he don't like why make him? Being on their back is not natural for a grey. Most conures like laying on their back and well do so on their own when playing in their cage. Caiques well too.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/13 18:27

Awww I just love babies. Great photo Dan.
7. Birds do just fine as long as the tempt change is gradual and you bird is in good health. Out on the parrot farm where I work we never turn on any heat unless it well get down to freezing. Don't know anything about heated perches. I don't run heat in my house at all at night in the winter. But when it gets really cold I'll run some in the living room where my birds stay so they stay about 60 degrees.

visited Sky

I have gotten my blue quaker after I got Que but I had two other birds here before I got Que. She does not seem to care. All of mine share the same playstand but never together. Keep in mind you'll need to QT for 45 days. During that time brian should be able to hear Sky and get use to the sounds of her in the house. When you do move Sky into the family room don't keep their cages to close. Most birds do just fine to the added company. Sounds like a wonderful bird. I would get her if I was in the market. You may however want to clip those wings to help her bond to you. You can always let them grow out after you build a relationship with your new bird. Good Luck
9. Nope five next boxes wont do it. Watch them see what pairs seem to be bonded and take them out in pairs and move them to their own cages. Nope no medicine or supplements to make them breed. Just offer a good diet and their own cages and then see what happens. Most birds only breed in the spring. Some might breed in the off season but that is not the norm.

The peanut

Hmmmm so what would kill that in the peanuts I have at home? Freezing? Baking?
12. As long as your bird is in good health they well adjust to most temps as long as it is slow changes. I live in an older house and it is very "drafty" but everyone is fine. I do have to cover my amazon in the winter time. With his liver issues he catches birdie colds very easy. But keeping plastic on his cage keeps him well and happy.

The peanut

I keep a bag of human grade peanuts around all the time. My husband has very little to do with my birds but he loves to feed them their peanuts so they only get peanuts from him about once a week.
14. Parrots like us have bad days. Some days my Que would just rather I leave her alone. So I do. Normally within a couple days she is back to normal. Is Ollie still being stand offish? How old is he? Maybe he is not feeling well? Is he normal otherwise? Is he still earing the same amount? How is his breathing?

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/12 20:02

umm Dan photo shop photos are not allowed. lol But that is cute.
16. As long as he wants to be feed keep feeding him. Force weaning is bad for parrots. Many birds wake up at night that is ok. Check out the food section that is several post about what you can feed your parrot. I even posted a picture of what I feed at the barn where I care for over 60 breeder parrots. Please also introduce yourself in the welcome area so we can greet you properly.
17. Lol well that is an idea.
18. Seen a hawk just two weeks ago on the powerline over looking my outside bird feeder. And even clipped birds can fly a long ways. Knew a lady that let her macaw sit out on a swing she had hanging from a big tree. I asked her about it and her replay was "Its wings are clipped" Next time I went it was in a big cage under that tree. I asked her what happened and she said her clipper bird flew five miles away. She was very lucky to get it back. This was before I ever got my first quaker 11 years ago. Just ordered this http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=19301101003&Category_Code=cagestravel&Product_Count=4 So I can take my Joey (amazon) and Que (TAG) outside. Not at the same time. lol

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/12 04:11
19. I use too but I dont have a travel cage at this time and I well not take them out unless in a cage or on a leash. I can not leash any but Topaz. I do however have a full spectrim light by their cage maybe it needs replaced? Don't think I have gotten a new one this year. Maybe I can talk my husband into taking the cages outside this weekend for a while.
20. Normally there are some bean/seed sprouts in it too but she has been to busy remodling a house to resale to fix any lately.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/12 03:34

The peanut

Had to grab those pictures fast. Cause once she knows I have the camera out she usally drops the peanut.
22. Yes it is a peanut yum yum Disclaimer only safe to feed peanuts were used in this photo section.
23. How old is she? Could be wanting attention my amazon well squat down and throw out his wings to be picked up. Not sure about the tongue thing though. lol Or if she is young she may need feed. BTW what the heck is a pigmy african grey? Another word for a timnah maybe? Don't think there is any such thing.
24. lol I have 12 parrots in the house right now. Three are hands on pets. Three are babies not weaned yet and the rest are hands off pets. The ones in the bed room 2 budgies and the plet are rather chatty/noise. But the ones in the front are rather quite birds. The quaker babies are a different story all together. Begging and whining at the site of me. lol

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/09/12 02:37
25. I looked at your pictures and he looks pretty good. I would start bathing more or if you can get more humidty into the house might help. What is his diet?
