I have a sticky on the other birds section for my thoughts on Grey's and other birds. So I won't rehash it here but well encourage you to read it.

Maybe you can stick train her and then just keep making the stick shorter and shorter till she is on your hand? Sounds like a great little TAG. Gratz on your new parrot. Good Luck

Mine does not fluff when mad just when happy. When afraid or mad he slicks down and stands reall tall. But then again my Que has yet to bite me. She fluffs up like that when I ask her if she wants to come visit. And then runs to the top of the cage to hand upside down cause that how she likes to step up out of the cage. :woohoo:

Dealing with a bird with issues is stressful and can be heartbreaking. But on the other hand when you have that break threw that turns the bird around it can be better then ice cream. lol But if you think there is any chance you wont keep the bird then it is best to maybe give the info about this bird to someone who well for sure give it a forever home. Every time a bird is passed it can cause more and more problems for the bird. I have two rescues. For one I am the fourth owner at least and he is a cuddle bug. Took us about 6 months to form a strong bond. The other one has had maybe 5 or 6 homes and we still have not connected in the 7 years I have had him. At least not in the way I would like. He bites. But I promised Dandy I would not pass him on like a bad seed. Do you have other birds? Have you ever owned a bird? If you answer is no maybe you should start with a baby. But as beccy says it may not be cuddle. I have had my TAG for 9 years and she no longer likes to be petted. Good luck

My grey is 9 years old and that is what she does when she is happy. And I have have had her since she was 6 months old and she has ALWAYS done this when she is happy.

Mad is all slicked down and tall. Very very slicked down. Along with a growl. Que has never growled that I have heard.

Bands are also a way to proof a bird it yours if it gets out or stolen. I leave the bands on mine. However Que my TAG does not have a band at all. Wish she did.

When I take photos its a 15 to 20 min session and I takes tons and then Im lucky to get two or three that are in focus and the bird is still.

His eyes are starting to change but he does appear to be under a year. 8 months sounds about right. Your breeder may of used some left over leg bands early in the year is all.

Unless you have the hatch day from the breeder once they are a year old there are no ways to really tell. Well untill old age starts showing but even then it is at best a guess. When they are young they have no eye rings. When they get grown CAG have yellow eye rings and TAGS have grayish eye rings. Hehe wish I could keep them all. lol And wont hurt my feeling any to add one to my breeder program next year. We do have one split to blue with no mate right now at the farm.
