1. I would not let them live in the same cage. Makes it harder to keep them bonded to you. Unless you plan to breed then you can go ahead and pair them up but you need to get them out of the house to somewhere they have more privacy. Good Luck
2. Did my first Walk away the pounds mile this morning. I know it don't sound like much but it sure was a work out for me.
3. I use full spectrum lights that I buy at walmart. I have no idea what the difference is. Sorry.
4. I am so proud of you Toni. So many people don't keep them apart. Karma for you.
5. Oh no. My heart goes out to you and your grey. Lets hope they are wrong. Let us know what you decide to do or just come talk if you need help deciding what to do. Do you have other birds? They may need to be tested that stuff is air born.

Great pictures and that poor amazon looks scared to death. lol I would be too if I was that close to that beak.
7. My grey is around 9 years old I have had her since she was 6 months. The first couple years I could touch her but over time she stopped asking or letting me. Greys are not touchy feely birds according to the research I have done on this matter. They love hands off interaction. But that's ok with my my amazon think she is a green too.
8. Don't think so. Has he been to an avian vet?
9. I think I waited to long. She could not get up anymore that morning and was still not getting up when I got in from work. She ate some from my hand but it was work and she lifted her head a couple times. But it was no use her liver had finally failed her. She had liver problems since she was four and was never suppose to live as long as she did. I am so grateful for the time I had but still wish I had a few more months.
10. 10 and 6 I think a tiel would be better suited. Lovebirds do not really need to be kept in pairs that is a myth. (make better pet if single too) But they do need every single day attention to keep tame. Not just weekends. A tiel or a budgie on the other hand when the school week gets hectic can do well with just weekend one on one attention and out of cage time every day. Keep in mind whatever you bird you decide to get well in the long run be yours. :cheer: Good luck

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2007/11/27 23:21
11. It fine but put the dog up somewhere when the bird it out. Make sure the cage is dog proof for when your gone. Of if the bird is going to stay in the child's room close the door when no one is home. However to touch a different subject I would not get a love bird for a child. They are hard to keep tame and their bite is nasty. How old is your daughter? I would recommend a cockatiel, budgie or maybe a parrotlet. (not as hard to keep tame once they are tame and bites are not as nasty) Try to get from a breeder they are usually tamer and your child can get a chance to interact more with the birds first. Good luck
12. Thank you everyone. Your all so kind. I have been giving the rest of my dogs extra attention but it strange to walk around the house without her under foot. She was the only one that would not move when I did. She use to move out of the way but the last year or so moving out the they took to long and I was always having to step over her or get tripped by her. It is also strange when you have a house full of dogs (still have five in the house 4 Chihuahuas and one Pekingese) that one dog can make the place seem so empty. I miss her so very much.
13. But it is time to put my Kiwi (peke-a-poo) to sleep. Going today at 3pm. I have put it off as long as I can. She is over 15 years old and stoped eating yesterday and now she won't stand up. She had a nice long life was spoiled and well loved.
14. Can you get some Permatex hand cleaner? My husband uses it when he gets stuff on his hands and when he is done there is no smell left. You can get some at any paint store. Good Luck
15. Yep trip an avian vet is needed. Let us know how it goes.
16. All of you are more then welcome to post any pictures here of other birds. We all love pictures.
17. Cause I won't have time to fool with it that late in Dec.
18. Really it's ok I want to do things others think is fun. Well just take a contest break. I can use it and so can you all I am sure. I'll come up with something for the first of 2008. Anyone have any suggestions?
