  1. They will mimic any sound they like so it doesn't surprise me and they are dead on with it sounding real, ask some of the members who thought their phones were ringing only to find out it was their grey, she must have liked the singing so she repeats it, you will have to video her doing it so we can hear her.
  2. Yes he will and maybe sooner than later for he is progressing in leaps and bounds lately. I am in awe of your impending balloon ride, please tell me all about it afterwards as it is something I have always wanted to do, enjoy.
  3. Hello Trees and welcome to our family. That was wonderful that you could give Ozzy a new forever home and she looks like she fits in real nicely, love the idea of putting the fish tank close by as it can be mesmerizing to watch them swim around their enclosure. Yeah I can totally relate to having a hubby not really interested in having a bird but get convinced by a little feathered being that shows them some affection, works every time. Please do supervise when Ozzy is out and about the house with the cat as stated before for a bite from the cat could prove fatal for Ozzy.
  4. Gilbert is a wonderful little fella and it just goes to show it does indeed take time for a rehomed grey to really open up and embrace his new family, which is why we stress so much to be patient with them and you are the queen of patient my dear Dee and David my have found him a new forever friend. These are small steps but so splendid and wonderful, Gilbert you the man.
  5. Yes Simon is a late bloomer but like I always say better late than never, what a sweetheart.
  6. Congrats on getting this Tag and is she your first bird? This will take time and it has only been 4 days, not nearly enough time as we are talking weeks, months and maybe longer especially if she has had any previous homes before she came to the owner you purchased her from, her trust has to be earned and it will take a long time so focus on small steps as accomplishments for the time being. If she was not that friendly before she came to you then it will require lots of patience on your part to just let her relax and feel comfortable and her personality will open up. Don't force yourself on her, let her decide if she wants more interaction with you. Its a shame the former owner is not more cooperative to give you more background on her, sounds like he really didn't like her very much so has washed his hands of her now that she is gone. It sounds like she will be a real sweetheart when she really opens up so keep working on it. Others will be along shortly to give you some more advice but just enjoy your new friend and it is normal for them to pick a favorite person in a household so she may have already shown a preference for your daughter by perking up when she came home but she can have a good relationship with you too if you go slow and easy.
  7. Hello Emma and welcome to our family. While you look for breeders or even consider a rehome or rescue please research and read all you can so you will be prepared for when you do get one for it is a lifelong committment so know what you are getting into.
  8. I'm with you Ray on the heat and we had our share of hot and humid this summer so am ready for fall temperatures and maybe the appearance of snow this winter as we were denied it last winter, it was so warm we hardly had a winter at all, I love the snow, it looks so pristine and the quiet is unbelievable.
  9. Wow that is about the oldest one we have here, have you had her all that time or is she a rehome or rescue? Please tell us more about yourself and Ozzy, why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and indulge us with all about her.
  10. Happy Hatchday Talon, hope your day is wonderful and you get to do what you want to do, like it would be any other way, enjoy.
  11. I saw that on facebook and it is adorable, thanks Janet for sharing it with us.
  12. Thats ludicrous, it has no place in any group's contract and if it is then I would run in the opposite direction!
  13. Just being able to have them out at the same time is probably the most you can hope for, usually multiple birds will not be very friendly to one another though sometimes it does happen, my three can be out at the same time and sometimes two can be on my shoulders at the same time as long as both stay on opposite sides but usually not for long, they get along as long as there is a little distance between each other. Cockatiels are one of the easiest birds to allow on your shoulder for they don't bite or nip at you, mine loves to sit sometimes and just enjoy the closeness and she sometimes preens me, wonderful little birds they are and I never would have known if one hadn't dropped in on me.
  14. They like to be unpredictable for it keeps us on our toes!
  15. That is a sweet picture of two different species of birds enjoying being together while they help with the household chores, you are so lucky.
  16. Our feathers Which are glorious Parrot be thy name My mess is done My human come To clean poop, bring food and scratch me Give us this day our nuts and fruit And skip the boring pellets you say are necessary And also bring us the toys so we may leave your curtains alone And lead us not into the veterinary office But release us from cages For yours is the Kingdom I will chew, destroy and maim For the next seventy years So there I saw this on facebook and had to share, it was from the Belize Bird Rescue but don't know who the author is but it about sums it up, hope you enjoy as I did.
  17. He is a handsome fella but that clip is nothing but pure butchery, I hope none of the follicles are damaged but definitely let them grow out, poor thing, the person responsible should be ashamed.
  18. Funny but I never have a problem with Josey or any of my birds going into their cage at bedtime, I think they know they need the sleep and go willingly, I don't understand why you all have a problem with it for its a piece of cake for me!
  19. How sweet of Sophie to cuddle with Sunny, she may very well sense that Sunny just needed it and provided it for her, they know more than they are telling us but actions speak loudly, capture a picture of it if you catch them doing it again.
  20. Josey is 6 years old and yes their life expectancy is 50+ years or more but a lot of things factor in like with us humans as some people die young because of poor nutrition and living habits. There are also medical reasons for some just as humans have diseases and illnesses that shorten life so you want to ensure that you are providing optimal nutrition, proper exercise and enough sleep time to give them the best chance at a long life.
  21. Romeo looks like a real sweetheart, what a handsome fella and in time he will settle in and become an awesome companion as his personality comes out, congrats on the new addition to the flock.
  22. I am so sorry to hear of Ivan's passing but it was not your fault and you did everything you could to make him safe, its natural to blame yourself but know that Ivan knew you loved him and he will be missed, hold those recent memories close to your heart and maybe someday you will be blessed with another grey, again please accept my condolenses on your loss.
  23. Some things are just not accepted to our greys, what one bird loves another won't go near, I made a stand out of plastic pipe and none of my birds will touch it, funny characters they can be.
  24. That is so sweet but it just has to be on his terms, lucky you.
  25. Yes he was helping all right, he is a good salad tosser but the camera wins in the end, thanks for sharing that with us.
