You are lucky that Piper is at least mimicing some sounds as Gypsy does not nor does Sunny my conure but Josey makes up for all three of them. I think in time Piper may come to like you, maybe not like she does Melissa but at least not hiss and growl at you, Gypsy didn't want much to do with me at first either but now she lets me handle her just fine and she likes my hubby almost as much but she prefers to be with me most of the time, give him some more time.

What a sweetheart and who wouldn't love hearing that.

Hello Karen and welcome to our family. I do hope the plucking was temporary but time will tell, if you have any pictures of Cosmo you would share with us we would love to see him.
-
Great picture but glad you are there, so is Hannah.

Don't use it if it is rusted, you will have to get a new cage for it is next to impossible to have it redone, much less expensive to buy a new one than to try to have it powder coated. You may not have noticed any rust on it when you bought it but it was there if it is showing up now which is usually why I avoid used cages.

Oh my gosh they are both adorable and ugly with all those pins especially the ones on the crest but they morph into beautiful little creatures, just takes a little time.

There are two threads in the Health room written by Dave007 that give instructions on introducing bathing to our greys, please read thru both of them and then take it from there, some love baths and some hate them.

Greys are very leery about anything changed and something odd sitting on the top of the cage will certainly induce stress, he probably thought it was going to come after him to kill him as they are always in predator mode, anything out of the ordinary tends to do that. Don't focus on the plucking, just ignore it for any drama about it might cause him to continue to do it for the attention it draws, maybe when he finally settles down he will discontinue it but time will tell. I would say if he has been covered at night since you have had him then he is used to being covered but then he might be associating the cover with the strange object on top of it so try it without covering him and see what happens. Some members here leave a night light on so it is not completely dark in their cage but it is what your grey is used to that should continue in my opinion. Give him a few days and see if things calm down for him. Why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about yourself and your grey Cosmo.

She might have broken a blood feather, check to see if it is still bleeding and if not then she will take care of it herself, if it is still bleeding you can put some cornstarch or flour on it to stop it. Sounds like the beginning of a bad day but it is your birthday so look on the bright side, you are another year older and wiser, hope your day ends a lot better than it started. Why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about yourself and your grey like what is her name, her age, how long you have had her and so forth and so on.

I GOT IT !!! Bobbie "singing like a canary" Audio
judygram replied to berryblonde2u's topic in The GREY Lounge
Yes it does sound like a canary singing, greys are magnificient at mimicing sounds and can make it like the real thing, thanks for sharing that with us. -
Even though she doesn't want much to do with hands she can still convey her love for you, not all of us have greys who like a lot of touching but it doesn't mean whe have any less of a great relationship with our grey companions, you are very lucky with Gracie.
-
Hello Orville and welcome to our family, yes why not tell us more about yourself and whether you have birds or a grey as we would love to hear all about them.
-
Has someone in the household had a cold lately for she might be mimicing that but if you have any concerns at all please contact your avian vet.

What an adorable baby grey and a real sweetheart Jude is but be careful with those peanuts in the shell, most of us do not feed them at all unless they are roasted and feed sparingly, an occasional treat.
-
Elwood is a great looking grey and you will come up with what works best for out of cage time for both birds. I have all 3 of mine out together but they stay away from each other, one doesn't seek another out so there is space between them so I have no problems, bet you will get yours sorted out real soon.
-
Looks like everyone but Ethan came thru with flying colors on the trip but Ethan will be back to normal quickly, most cats do not like to travel so it was to be expected but birds do very well as did Jasper, bet you are glad its over and done with.
-
Hello Lucy and welcome to our family. It looks like things are going great for you with Odin, better than expected for so soon in the relationship since you haven't had him long and he is a handsome fella from the pictures you shared with us.
-
Hello Nicki and welcome to our family. Congrats on adding another grey to your life, sorry about your first one but these things happen and your heart is ready for a new beginning with Jude. You will learn a lot from reading thru the many threads here so take some time to do just that and ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to provide some answers if possible. Pictures are always welcomed.

I am not real fond of the cold part but love to watch it snow, looking forward to sitting by a roaring fire with a cup of cocoa watching the snow fall.
-
Dee I would be there to go up with you in the balloon if I didn't have to work for I would love to be able to accompany you on that ride so David could stay on the ground and I will take one some day.
-
Congrats on getting her weaned and now the real fun begins, so sit back and enjoy.

Hello Camoka and welcome to our family. Its not that I don't wish you to have a grey for your own but please do not buy one captured from the wild, please try to find one from a breeder, a just weaned baby is what you want. I thoroughly dislike the capture of wild parrots for the pet trade, these birds have grown up in their native habitat and it is cruel to try to tame them when the only thing they know is where they have lived their whole life plus the way they are captured some are injured and killed in the process and even one is one too many. How else can we stop this horrendous trade unless people quit buying them as it only leads to more and more of it happening. Now I will get off my soapbox and tell you to learn all you can before you bring one of these awesome creatures into your life so you will be prepared for what is ahead.

Animals know humans better than we do so trust their instincts and have a safe week away.

Hello Katie and welcome to our family. Congrats on your baby grey Cleo, is this your first grey, first parrot? You need to browse thru the many threads here on the forum for similar questions and see the responses from the many members here for you will find most of your answers but feel free to ask any and all questions. I would discourage Cleo from landing on your head then staying there, its not a proper perch for her and as you have discovered it results in poop in the hair which is unacceptable so when she flys towards your head just put your arm up to divert her elsewhere, she will soon get the hint that she is not to land there.

Was there ever any doubt, enjoy!
