  1. I have to put Odin in his cage when we have pizza or pizza fingers , he will steal a whole slice or finger if he gets a chance. He usually gets a small piece of crust to make him happy. He loves grapes and almonds
  2. We have a little tiny Charlie Brown tree (it's a live tree in a pot) none of the birds have gone near it but it wouldn't hold them if they landed on it any way

He is settling in nicely... gave him a shower this morning.. he stunk, I've read ekkies have an smell but this was not pleasant

His name is Greenie lol that's the name he came with... and they said he knows it and will say hi Greenie when you walk up to the cage. So far I've heard him say hey, hi, hello, pretty bird, good bird. And I guess he has some not nice words eating dinner, he's been on seed only for awhile, so he was liking the chop Greenie and Salty, they came from the same place, we got Salty last thursday

Got my male Eclectus home today, my husband left at 3:30 this morning to go get him, got home just after noon. He's 9 yrs old and a sweet bird, doesn't seem bothered much by the change, my husband said he was really quiet the whole trip until he pulled in the driveway and he squawked. As soon as he handed the carrier to me and I set him down he said "hey" he talked up a storm for awhile. He's been climbing in and out of his cage and is eating well, he likes my "cooking", he dug right into his dinner. here is a picture
  6. Odin came with a bag of Zupreem Natural but they told me he prefered the Nut Blend, they just hadn't gotten to the place that carried it. So we ordered the nut blend and I give him some of both and the nut blend ends up on the floor most of the time
  7. Tonight I tried to give him a treat and he climbed on my hand... and I don't have any extra holes in me
  8. He seems to be doing good, he likes being around us, he calls when I leave the room. The birds had been moved to the shop at their old home since the couple both worked from home and the husband got sick of the noise while he was on the phone, so they haven't been in the day to day activities of a house for awhile but he seems to like us being around. I dont have any problem with him trying to bite me when handing him treats or reaching past him to get dishes.
  9. He bit his old mom in the face the day she got him, but never bit after that, although she was always wary and handled him with a stick if he was grumpy and didnt let him on her shoulder but her husband would carry him around on his shoulder and never had a problem with him. So hopefully I got my new home bite and he'll be ok, but I'm taking it slow and easy with him
  10. I got my first bite from Odin friday, just a couple inches from Salty's bite, but nowhere near the damage... My husband vet wrapped is kitchen perch and he didn't like it and didn't want to sit on it, and was a little tweaked that I had asked him to so when I reached up to get him to step up off my shoulder later he nailed me. This thursday my husband is going to pick up Salty's cage and his "brother", Greenie, a 9 yr old male Eclectus. Greenie is a sweet bird, I'm excited to get him here. Their mom decided to rehome them because they weren't getting the attention they deserved and she didn't see the situation getting any better, so she made the best decision for the birds. a couple pics from last night
  11. Salty has his beek file right down to a razor point.. or maybe pirate sword lol. Its funny how depending on how his feathers are it hides his red shoulders
  12. Thursday we drove an 8 hour round trip to pick up our new fid, Salty. He is about 5 yrs old and is a cute little thing... but man, is his beak sharp lol. I asked him to step up when I first met him and he did and grabbed right hold of my hand. He been doing good here but Ive been having him step up on a stick for now. Tonight he hung out on a perch in the kitchen while I made chop. He says step up and I think come here Salty My bite Odin stuck one of his nails right in one of the holes today, that kinda hurt
  13. Thanks for the welcome... I'm surprised at how quickly he's settled in. He's not shy at all... he likes to steal food off plates. My daughter and I were eating lunch on the couch a couple days ago and he climbed down the back and walked across and stole a piece of her pizza, it was the first time he had purposely gotten near her Yup, Aviator it is... just trying to decide if I want the red to match his tail or the silver to blend in lol Probably going to order one tomorrow.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm Lucy. I'm a stay at home mom of a 19 month old daughter. I live near Portland, OR and just purchased a 7 yr old CAG named Odin, had him a week tonight. I had been wanting a parrot for a long time (and my husband has wanted a Grey), growing up my mom raised canaries for a few years and we always had birds, finches, parakeets, cockatiels, lovebirds, Indian Ringnecks, Rosellas, and mom had a Nanday Conure that had been abused, the bond they had was amazing. I've been researching Greys for months and started looking for one to bring home at the beginning of Sept. but it's been worth the wait. Odin is such a good bird, the first morning home, I opened his cage and he came right out, a couple hours later he flew over to the couch to hang out with me. On the second day I could give scritches and pet down his back. He hasn't attempted to bite, he's grabbed my finger a few times but doesn't put any pressure on. He definitely picked me for his person but he will step up for my husband and this morning he was able to give him scritches. We are Odin's 3rd home, he was born in an aviary owed by an elderly lady. The family we got him from, got him when he and 4 other Greys were rescued from the aviary, there were a bunch of dead birds. He's missing one toenail and the nail beside that toe grows straight out. But he's adjusted so well into our home. So far he's said hello, youhoo (usually when we're out of the livingroom) I love you, Odin, come here, and a bunch of things I haven't caught yet. he sings the lalalala from Elmo's world song, he has all sorts of whistles and sounds. At his last home he got the neighbor in trouble with another neighbor, she thought the other neighbor was wolf whistling at her pic from his ad- they took him outside a few times, I'm going to get a harness before I take him out, not taking any chances breakfast time
