Congrats on your new baby, Percysmum, the wait has been long, but it is almost over now, I am so excited for you. Yes please post pics of your baby, we would enjoy watching it grow up with you.
Mpr86, I would ask them to take it in to see a vet before you purchase it just to check it out, may be nothing and may be something wrong. I would think they would be concerned about it too. You did the right thing in holding off until it is resolved.
Thats a good idea, Snow, there are many brands out there and he might just like another kind, just keep trying and one day he will eat them. Try mixing them in with seeds and see if he eats some by mistake, or try soaking them in some juice, some of the members have had success getting them to eat them that way.
I do know what I am missing, Dan, and I ain't missing a thing, I like to look at others aquariums, but I have never wanted one nor have I ever had one. To each their own, and it is not for me.
But bring on the pictures, I love looking at them.
That is a very heartwarming story, Greylover, I am glad you could take in this little one, and he will be forever grateful to you for what you have done. A guardian angel was certainly watching over this little guy, and glad your friend was alert to his cries, he did save his life for sure.
Keep us informed on his progress and let us know what you name him.
I have had bettas before, but fish tanks are not my favorite thing, I'll stick with my birds and cats. But Tari, that is a fine looking fish tank, thanks for sharing that with us.
Hello, Eileen, and welcome to the family, glad you joined us here and looking forward to hearing more about Lucy.
She is a cutie and I am glad she is working out for you, but since you have other parrots you know the drill. She does need to have some pellets in her diet, and it will take some time, but she may surprise you and enjoy them.
Hello, Dareuk, and I am glad the move went well for the grey, but sorry you had to part with the rosella for noise problems, but kudos for giving the money to a charity, most people would not have done that.
Georgous baby, and glad to hear all is well in your greyt world. She is just a little petite for a grey but well within normal limits. She is certainly a cutie.
However, that cage is a little small for her, I hope you only use it for very short trips, it is more suited for the smaller birds, I use one just like it for my sun conure.
There are other sites as well that have those types of toys, just do a search for bird toys and you will find lots, then you just need to look for the cheapest ones.
Makena, that will be a big change, from Hawaii to Washington state. He will have to stay inside more in Seattle, and won't see the sun as much as in Hawaii. But they adjust just fine to wherever they live, people all over the world have them and they acclimate to their surroundings.
Well Kitty if you want to spend a little money, you can buy a plastic bank with plastic coins that is made especially for birds, or similar toys that use the same principle of putting something in holes.
Just try different veggies, different ways, cooked, raw, mashed, shredded, chopped, slivered or whatever form you want, and see what they seem to prefer. I think they like a lot of their cooked veggies to be warm like we like them, but experiment with various ways to see what yours prefers.
Hey, I want that, Toni, can I share it with you?
But the island is also inhabited by cannibals, and you and your 6 buffed men end up as dinner.
I want a man who can wait on me hand and foot.
Thats a great idea, and another reason why I am glad I continued with the spoon feeding in the mornings, will come in handy if I need to give meds.
Geoff, we appreciate you keeping us informed as to how you are handling this situation with Mirek, this will be invaluable for other members to know to get thru a similar occurrance.
True, Rodney, just because the wings are clipped, don't assume they cannot fly, because as you prove they can. This should serve as a reminder for us all that clipped wings is no guarantee of them not being able to fly off, if they so desire.
BTW, Rodney, cute little guy there, looks like a little sweetheart.
If it works for the two of you, Talon and Pryde, then that makes sense to me, one of you has to watch out for the cats and the other has to watch out for the dogs. In that situation, you both made a wise choice and that is exactly what it is a choice.
Thanks, Geoff, for the update on Mirek, I am glad it is only a minor irritant, and you are fortunate to live where you do, most of us would love to be so lucky. It is easy to jump to conclusions when you don't have all the facts and now that you have explained it, it makes perfect sense to me.
Keep us updated on his progress and hope he gets over this very soon. And thanks for handling this difference of opinion in a very mature way.
We aim to please, Dan, especially when you walk right into it, I can just imagine the look on your face when you realized you had went out in public with bird poop on you.{Feel-good-0002006E}
This brings up some interesting debate material, for I am one of those who do not feed peanuts because of the danger of the presence of aflatoxin in them. I have heard from so many sources that I should not be giving them to my grey. I may read more on this and possibly change my mind about feeding peanuts, I know Josey would probably love them.
