  1. Happy Birthday, Frank, I hope you have the best birthday yet, we all love you here, and I hope you have many, many more of them to celebrate. I love you, sweetheart, Judy {Love-000200BF}
  2. I don't play a lot of music except for the radio playing during the day while I am at work. Josey does not pay any attention to it for the moment. But you will be the first to know if she decides to get frisky to the music.
  3. Most of the sites that sell bird food also sells the traps. I use them in my cupboards and they get full of the moths. Keep the bulk of the food in the freezer and what you are going to use in the next few days in the fridge, that way you at least cut down on the bugs, but it doesn't kill them completely.
  4. Well at least you have some possibilities in the before mentioned places, but whatever destination you and your fiance choose, I am sure you will have a lovely time and may not see much of any sights, you may spend all your time doing other things.:kiss: :laugh:
  5. Thats a nice looking Cag, and her name is Sunshine, what a wonderful name, she is your little bit of sunshine. If I remember correctly, you are taking care of Sunshine because your Granda is getting unable to care for her properly. I commend you for taking on this responsibility and you will make an excellent parent for this bird. We will help you in any way we can and look forward to hearing more about this Sunshine in your life. Welcome to our family, we are glad you joined, John.

    fruit pot!

    Those fruits are fine, just like the others said, no apple seeds, but you knew that already.
  7. Well Dan, you had to look if you posted in this thread, Dan, Dan, Dan, what am I gonna do with you. Let me think on this a bit and I'll get back with ya.
  8. Well you understand that just because you want a partner for your grey, they may not get along, in fact they probably won't, its just the way they are, so don't be disappointed if you get another one and that happens. Just want you to have all the facts before you go ahead with this.
  9. We welcome all of you and if you want to share an account that is fine or each one of you can have your own, its your choice. You do have a nice assortment of animals, keeps you busy but they are a lot of company and provide you with a lot of enjoyment I'm sure.
  10. Yes that is a big bird, but we have a few that go more than that.
  11. Just do a google search and you will come up with a bunch of sites that sell cages and some of the are reasonable in price and some will ship for free. I have ordered from the country roost, drsfostersmith, and several sites.
  12. You have been given some very good ideas, Makena, and whatever destination you and your fiance choose, I'm sure it will be the trip you will remember for the rest of your lives. I vote for the Europe thing, maybe one or two places so you can really see the sights like you should. Let us know when you do make that decision, we just want to know where you go, so we can be jealous of it. You are at a nice age that you have it all and your lives are ahead of you, and I wish nothing but the best for you and your man, he is a lucky man for he has you.
  13. Well give them a hug from us will ya, and you have a pleasant night's rest. May the Forum God strike us both for our rants, Dan.
  14. Very good post, Beccy, you are doing an excellent job with this room. I agree that stepping up is the most important thing to teach your grey to do and certainly the first thing. Beccy explains it well and Lovemygreys post is an excellent one also. If you take their advice you should have no problem with this simple task.
  15. I think the men are too much of wussies to come here and say anything, but I agree, they did look, and I bet they just shook their head and went on to the next thread. Their attitude is I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. {Communicate-0002011A}
  16. Its ok, Connie, we know your heart is in the right place and that is what the person who put that up on that site wanted was to get your attention so they could follow with the real reason for what they posted.

    My Grey

    Could be Toni, that was how Josey started out, with the wolf whistle. I know you can hardly contain yourself but he will be home soon and then you can teach him all sorts of words to say. Congrats, Toni.
  18. I am sorry to hear about this, Sampson, my heart goes out to you. Tari is right, not all certified avian vets are listed, you just have to persevere to find out if any are in your area. Keep us informed as you find out any new information, we care about you and your bird.
  19. Dan, I love that picture of what not to do and look like when you get bit, thats a good one. Unfortunately for us, they do use the beak for testing things, and they usually are trying to tell us something when they do bite, we just don't always get the message.
  20. Try spoon feeding her some oatmeal with a little baby food veggies mixed in, and also offer her some off your plate at mealtimes. If they see you enjoying it that helps them to try it, show her how fun and enjoyable it is and that will encourage her to try it. Most greys are scared of new things, so like Talon said, place them near enough to not scare her but let her get used to them and eventually you can put it inside the cage for her to play with. And show her how to play with it, make it fun for her. Rotate the toys from time to time to cut down on the boredom factor. Maybe a vet visit is in order to rule out any physical reasons for the plucking but boredom is a common reason some pluck. I commend you for taking on this task, and we will help you in any way we can to insure she is getting the help she needs to flourish. Please post in the welcome room and introduce yourself and tell us a little more about you and this grey, like what is her name. If you have a photo of her that would be great too.
  21. I agree, Dan, I find the stuffed parrots very offensive but the rest of the stuff is not my opinion. I grew up on a farm and we had chickens, cows and pigs, and we killed them and ate them, granted not a pretty sight but it is part of the food chain. We as humans cannot make pets out of all living creatures, we need to consume the before mentioned animals to supply the nutrients we need for survival. I will not be shocked into abstaining from eating meat, I always have and always will eat it and enjoy it. PETA to me stands for People Eating Tasty Animals and not that other organization I won't mention. I know some people will take offense to my statements, but that is their opinion not mine. But as far as the stuffed parrots, I would rather not see them used that way, but hey I have stuffed animals all over my house, and I know some of you would take offense to that, but this is the way I live and my hubby loves to hunt so therefore I have heads and bodies everywhere. If you don't like it, then you should never set foot inside my house, for it would be an appalling sight for you to see. Enough said on this subject, for I could go on and on forever.
  22. I haven't been on any vacations this year, but a cruise sounds like a good choice for a honeymoon. You could take one to Alaska if you are getting married in the summer, I've always wanted to do that. Maybe some of the other members have some other suggestions.
  23. Well we will keep our fingers crossed that both are well and ok. Glad to hear you are enjoying Drizzle and that is a cute name isn't it.
  24. Mea culpa, Mark, of course it is not factual and we all should question. I does matter what the circumstances are as to diet and other factors that determine how long a particular bird lives, the healthier the more likely the longer. And like Talon said, Mende knows no other way but the way he is and I know he is happy with Zooky as his Mom.
