Thanks, Mark for sharing this story with us, its a shame that people will do such things and I hope Franklin is found, he and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
-
Joe my man, you didn't have to thank us for anything, I just do what I love to do and that is use my big mouth, you know that. But the sentiments are shared, for I have had to call on each and every one of the admins and mods for things since I have been here and they have all been most helpful to me and anyone else. You are such a sweet man Joe and I will properly thank you at another time, but you really want to be a mod don't you!!!!!!!
-
Its also possible that the grey is mimicing a sneeze also, they are masters of that.
-
I'll bet it is missing from someone's home but they have probably given up looking for it since it has been months ago that they lost it. I would put a cage out in your yard and put food in it and maybe it will come down and get in the cage for the food and maybe you can capture it, chances are slim but it is worth a shot. Not a whole lot else you can do if it is loose and living wild.

I thought so.........

And it is not just about greys and parrots that we learn about, it is also other stuff that has nothing to do with birds, a very informative and helpful place to spend some time. And for an old woman like me, I can learn something new every day I come here.
-
I may change the lighting in my family room, thats where the birds are but I am going to have to read Dan's and BMustee's posts again and again to get it through my old brain, not working properly today. Thanks guys for the information.
-
Just one more reason why this forum is so important in the life and happiness of our greys, we all help each other when its needed.
-
And I assume you speak from experience, Dave, nothing like good old first hand knowledge. I too would be reluctant to help along the pin feathers and I do not bother Josey's but I do help along my sun conure's and she likes it.
-
Greys can be funny about new things, you just have to let them get used to it being there and that may take a while for him to be able to go inside of it. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about yourself and Leo.
-
I have been giving Josey red palm oil now for almost the whole time I have had her home, I highly recommend it.
-
I agree, they do need somewhat of a schedule but not rigid, for we all have to do things and go places that puts us later getting home and they do need to be able to spend some time alone. I try to make the time I am home special for her and so far I have had no problems.
-
Good for you BMustee, to check into this for us, I would like to know also, and karma for you girl.

Hello and welcome to the family, Frank, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Harley. I saw your name on the right last night and waited for your first post but here you are now and so happy to see you. Is Harley your first grey and first parrot? How long have you had him, since he was a baby? Do you have any other pets? I ask a few questions so we can get to know you better. Please read thru our many threads on various topics for lots of useful information. If you have specific questions you would like to ask, feel free to ask us anything, we will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Harley you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Gosh Deedee, you have had a time with Pepsi haven't you, and now you only get maybe 1 or 2 bites a day. Thats still too many but certainly less than what you were getting, yes I would say he likes you now. Josey doesn't attack anyone but she definitely prefers me over my hubby, she tolerates him and more so lately than she did when I first brought her home.

OMG!!!! Our new neighbors are such BIG TURKEYS!!!

Don't we all, Laurie!!!!! -
I would like to remind the other women out there to be careful when they are out shopping, especially if it is at night. The malls are crawling with people who prey on women who are alone at night so don't go out by yourself, take someone with you. And be observant when you come out to your car, look around for someone nearby who may try to assault you as you try to enter your car. And a lot of the times when I shop, I do not take my purse, I put my money and/or credit cards in my pocket so I don't have a purse to snatch. That way you have two free hands to shop with but also to go after someone who might try to attack you, like two fingers in the eyeballs.

I've never had Josey grab a hold of the cage bars to keep from stepping up on my hand to come out of the cage. She steps up every time and if she does not come immediately to the door when I open it I leave her alone for a minute or two and then she comes over to the door to come out. I think Cosmo feels safe in his cage and is reluctant to come out of that safety zone of his cage. Maybe he will do better at it when he learns to trust you more, Jimmy, so be patient with him for a while.

Matt it is just a freak thing that happened and there was no way to have prevented it and I am so sorry for your loss. That is nice of them to send you back the ID band off his leg but you won't need that to remember him, I don't think you will ever forget him for the rest of your life, I know I wouldn't.
-
Well the important thing is to keep offering it, even though she does not touch it now does not mean that she will never eat it, sometimes right out of the blue they will eat it, keep at it. Will she eat anything soft out of a spoon, I ask because I feed Josey a little cooked oatmeal with some baby food veggie in it and she gobbles it up for breakfast. I also add a little red palm oil to it, that helps the feathers.
-
I'm so sorry Matt for your loss of Rafikki, you must be devastated and I am also for we kinda got to know you and him personally by the exchange of posts. It was just a freak thing and there was not a thing you could have done to prevent it, my heart goes out to you for your loss but know that now he is not in any pain and he knew you loved him with all your heart. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and please let us know what the necropsy shows as the cause of death. Hang in there because when one door closes another one opens so have faith in what the man upstairs has in mind for you.

Martinton is in the eastern part so it is not near you but thanks for the information.
-
What part of Illinois are you in, are you anywhere close to Martinton? I know some people there is why I ask.
-
I know you are going to love this place like we do and I can't wait to see her.

Hello and welcome to the family, Sandy, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more from you and Einstein. So you are looking for eggs, I'm not sure she will even lay eggs, I think they have to get in a mindset of nesting to start that so I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe one of our experts will clarify this for us. Glad you found out that greys are awesome creatures and you have the pleasure of sharing your life with one, they do bring so much joy into our lives. Please read thru the many threads here on various topics for lots of helpful information and if you have questions just ask, we will help you in any way we can. If you have pictures of Einstein that you would like to share with us please do, we would love to see her.
