Josey will play with balls, little plastic balls with holes in them and a bell inside, she will play hide and seek with a towel, and she also has toys that I can hide a treat in that she has to figure out how to get to it.

Destroying something may seem like no fun to us but to them is great fun, and like Ziggy mentioned the chewing sharpens their beaks and strengthens their jaw muscles. It gives them something to do to occupy their time and keep them from becoming bored, for a bored bird lots of times becomes a plucked bird.

In answer to the clipping wings question, sounds like he may have been too severly clipped, he should not be falling like a rock, he can hurt himself that way. He should be able to glide to the floor but no he will not hover at all. Do not show any fear or hesitation on trying to get him to step up, he will sense that and act on it. As far as getting him back into the cage, just put him there, he needs to know that he has to go back when you say so for you are the boss, he will eventually learn that he goes back when you say so. I would try taking him into the shower with you and see how he reacts, some greys do love to bathe and take showers, you won't know unless you try. If you have a picture you would like to share with us, we would love to see him.

Thanks Beccy for sharing your story with us, its nice to get an update on how Brian is doing and I can understand the teeth and mouth thing. I have to keep my mouth shut or she will be inside exploring, my sun conure especially, she really likes to try to push her way in.

For goodness sakes, don't take her bowl of water away until she gets the hang of the bottle, show her how the water will come out when you press on the ball. She is a little scared of it right now, but when she gets used to the bottle being there show her how to use it, I am sure she will catch on fairly quickly.

That is simply despicable that they could treat these magnificent creatures that way, without food and water, I wish there was something that could be done for these animals. It breaks my heart to know that there are animals that go without the basic needs much less the love of a companion, you really are in a horrible situation.

Its ok to get a lovebird or any other type of bird with a dog in the house, but the same rule applies, you have to be right there to supervise when the bird is out of its cage, for it only takes a second for disaster to strike.

Don't be sorry, we love the pictures and video clips, its fascinating to watch others greys.

Oh yeah, he is enjoying that neck scratching a lot, thanks Jimmy for sharing the pictures and video clip with us, I truly enjoyed it.

Gosh, Matt, this is a serious matter if it is aspergillosis and I feel your pain at the moment. I hope his bloodwork comes back negative and he gets better soon. It was a good thing you went on and took him in to see about this, I know he is precious to you and I pray that he recovers completely. Well you have said it in a nutshell, you have only had him a week, he is not as comfortable with you yet even though he is sweet after you get him out. He is in a new home with new people and it will take time to get him to trust you fully. At least he comes to you a well trained bird, he definitely has not been abused, I like that instead of biting you when he doesn't want to come out of his "cage", he instead takes your hand and pushes it away. Just give him some time and he will be more willing to come out and play with you, but he has some independence also and wants to be left alone at times, so don't force him when he makes it clear that he wants to be to himself. He sees his cage as his santuary and safe place so he is reluctant to come out but in time he will be more apt to when he fully trusts you and bonds with you. Be patient, thats the best advice I can give you right now.

I'm so sorry Tari, but yes you did love and care for this little one and now it is time for the big sleep. And she knows this too but know that we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers for even though it is necessary it still hurts deeply.
