Thats a beautiful lovebird and a very good price, you got a good deal, Lutino, and thanks for sharing it with us, I love the coloring of this one.

This is going to take time, Shelmae, if you were ok with just listening to her and not interacting with her and now you want to interact, she is not used to this. Gradually work with her including her more and more in one on one things and eventually she will accept it but on her terms and maybe not as much as you would like. She is set in her ways and it will take a lot of patience like Bruce said, patience, patience and more patience. Good luck with your endeavor.

This is appalling and ludicrous, Kristin, and I can't believe such a bill exists, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I just sent off an email and will write them also.

It does sound like some kind of mating dance especially when you mention the dropping of the wings, that definitely sounds like sexual behavior but as far as whether it means male or female, I don't know. Maybe it is time to have it DNA tested so you will know for sure. Maybe some of the other members know more about this subject and provide some insight.

Jim I am glad that now you know that this is not to be taken lightly, owning a grey is a lifetime committment and you have to be prepared to deal with the obligations of that committment, just like if you had children, you do what you have to do to insure their health and safety. I think that one day you may make a fine parront to a grey but make sure you are ready for the responsibility and I wish you good luck, and keep in touch.

I work 8 hours a day 5 days a week and with commute time I am gone for a minimum of 9 hours, but Josey has a large cage with many toys and Sunny, my sun conure, in another cage for company. I leave the radio on for them to mask the quiet of the country where I live. My hubby gets home first but he does not have much to do with my birds, so I let them out when I get home, I can hear the conure calling for me as soon as I pull up. They are pretty much out for the rest of the evening until they go to bed around 10 pm. Josey goes to her playtop and plays there or I take her and put her on the playstand while I do things. Sunny usually stays on my shoulder most of this time but they both usually go with me into the kitchen while I fix dinner. On the weekends when I am home maybe all day they are out more but not all the time. This works best for me and it seems to go ok with them. The conure seems to need to be on me more so than my grey does, she can be just as happy playing with her toys where as the conure loves nothing else but to be a permanent fixture on me. I have two grown children and they don't have much to do with Josey but my daughter likes to interact with Sunny and my son could care less for either. I don't allow my grandchildren to get near Josey and I have to keep one of my granddaughters away from Sunny, she will lunge at her if she gets too close, she bit her on the lip one time and now she seems to hate the sight of her. I don't have too many people coming into my house as I live out in the rural country but most anyone who does come in shows little interest in my birds.

Hello and welcome to the family, Pieter, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jessie. I remember your first post about Jessie eating some apple pips and your concern about that, but all seems well with her and apparently she did not chew them just swallowed them whole. I know you were very concerned as would any of the rest of us but glad it turned out well.:cheer: Have you had Jessie since she was a baby? I checked out the link you posted and saw the pictures of her, she is a lovely looking Tag. Please read thru as many of the threads as you can for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We do our best to get some answers and we will help you in any way we can. I know you are going to love it here just like we do, this place is awesome and it rocks!!!

Just be sure to provide separate cages and supervise both when they are out together.

Seems to me that if he is eating a good variety of veggies then he may not need the pellets, so don't sweat it. Just continue to offer him a variety of the veggies, some fruits, a few seeds and nuts and maybe some whole grains and that should do him nicely. Offer a little meat like chicken now and then. The pellets are for a balanced nutrition diet but if he is eating his veggies then don't worry about it. You can still offer them in the hope that one day he will eat them.

Josey laughs like me and I think she has picked up that laugh of SpongeBob Squarepants that the grandkids always want to watch every time they come over. You are in for a treat all right and it will happen soon.
-
Well he shouldn't be mad at you for leaving him but I know a few people that say theirs do get mad for a while but they get over it real quickly. As long as you treat him right he won't hold it against you.

WHAT DO I DO MY GREY LOVES MY AMAZON WELL ANYTHING
judygram replied to donste2287's topic in The GREY Lounge
They do have different personalities and they have different relationships with different people. But it seems like she wants to play with another bird and not with you. I don't know whether you can do anything about that, she wants what she wants. I'd say she does want to be with you just not bonded with you like you would like her to be, you can't force a bond between the two of you, you may just have to accept her for what she is and what she offers to you. Maybe some of the other members will have better ideas or suggestions for you than what I have offered. -
Thats just natural Jimmy for you to feel that way and by all means do take Cosmo with you whenever you can, I know some of the members take theirs lots of places with them. I know that makes you feel pretty special to have him run to you like that, he is glad to see his daddy back. {Love-000200BF}

When you come back to give us an update why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about yourself and your grey.
-
I'm sure you will soon find that out Dan, you are in for a treat.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I had never seen one until that photo was posted here in this forum but then you hear of albino animals and it is like the same thing.:cheer: Yeah I kind of had an idea that they were a little rambunctious when they are awake and active, they just have that look about them, but adorable nonetheless.
-
If you have behaved yourself Dan, you have nothing to worry about, but if you have said some bad words I am sure Dayo will pick up on them just because of the tone you used to say them. All those whose greys are jibbering and jabbering, look out, soon it will turn into actual words and phrases and then you will be bombarded with a barage of talking like you have never heard before.

Terri, I get the message that $1200 was money well spent and Bella is worth every penny, am I right, you dang skippy I am.

Kristin, in my opinion I think they probably would last a lifetime, stainless steel does not rust and that is the main enemy of the powder coated ones. But they are more expensive and heavier to boot, if you get one wait until you move to the mainland before you buy it.
