  1. You have raised a very fine girl there Penny, you should be very proud of her and of those at your dance studio also.
  2. Congrats Heather for winning this contest but all the entries were winners in my book, this contest was a huge success and I am proud of everyone who voted, see we can do this and maybe next contest we will have more entries and more voting.
  3. I feel your pain Tari, I had to put down my 18 year old cat on Saturday and it was a very hard thing to do but had to be done and I almost waited too long as her veins would collapse when they tried to insert the needle with the solution but thankfully they were successful and she drifted off. Sometimes this is the kindest thing we can do for our pets if they are in so much pain or in a debilitating condition but I will miss my Smokey as you will your Thor.
  4. Good job Melissa for donating also, you should post a pic so we will know what you look like now with shorter hair but we already know you are a knockout:)
  5. Ok its Sunday but are we waiting for the end of the day or what, I am getting antsy about the outcome, I want to know who won, hope the next contest gets as good a response as this one did, way to go Tari:P B)
  6. I second Tracy's advice, they can be affected by the dreary weather and nap more but if you are concerned then by all means take him in to see the vet especially if he has not seen one yet just to put your mind at ease.
  7. Thanks for the link Acappella, a very good source of some excellent ideas:P
  8. Thanks Dan for all your research and the amount of time and effort to put this all together for us, I really appreciate it and I know a lot of the members do too and some of them may take it into actual production but not me, its too over the head for me (no pun intended). Now can we find similar lighting in a ready to use fixture that we can just plug in and ready to use?
  9. Looks like a nice enough cage for a grey but I don't really care for the ones with the playtop on top of the cage as it puts the bird too high up. I have a split level with a playtop on the side that is lower, she still gets up on the playhook but she is not so high I can't reach her.
  10. Spence it helps to socialize her to get her out with you and your gf and pass her between the two of you praising her lavishly when she steps up for her and goes to her and the two of you play games with her. I agree the cage needs to be where you spend the most time when home, she wants to be a part of the family and even though she is out when you are home it may come a time when it will be necessary to have her caged and if she is where she is part of the flock she will be happier. Newspaper is the best to use on the bottom of the cage, it is easily removed and replaced with fresh paper and is a renewable resource. Tracy and Joe have provided some excellent links for information you requested.
  11. Glad to hear it all turned out well for you Berna, I would have been a nervous wreck for sure, nice tip there with the olive oil, glad everything is ok today.
  12. Eva8 don't leave us hanging too long we want to hear all about this new grey you just got so give us the details as soon as you can and congrats:)
  13. Yeah Tracy we know how the female mind works and now Berna will have those finches coming out of her ears, but better hers than mine:laugh: you go girl:P
  14. Looks good Tiffani and I commend you for what you have done for a worthy cause, the shorter style becomes you.
  15. I am so sorry Pep1 to hear of this but there was something wrong with Chaz even though he got a clean bill of health, something just wasn't right. I can imagine how you must feel even though you only had him a short time, it doesn't take long to fall in love with them. I feel for Nicholas and he misses Chaz too but he will get over it in time just like you will, but you have each other now and each will help the other get thru this terrible time in your life. Thanks for letting us know about Chaz, I remember your initial post about getting these two greys from your brother and am so sorry for your loss but he has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge, gone but not forgotten.
  16. I can't wait for part three, part two is making my head swim, this is too much information for my overloaded brain to handle, now didn't I walk into that one for you Dan, go ahead and take your best shot. :woohoo:
  17. Yes thanks Dan for the incredible information, a little above my head but then I am just a simple country girl but I look forward to part two.

    Toni's injuries

Yeah we have to be thankful for our families, they help get us thru the worst of time but glad to hear that is all behind you now, you are a determined person, glad you took matters into your own hands.

Gosh Mark you really have had it bad haven't you, and no DavE it is not kinda cool looking to me, I wouldn't want to have to wear something like that but Mark did and I'm sure he thought it was far from cool.

    Toni's injuries

OMG Mark that looks very uncomfortable and thanks for just posting a link and for the warning so those who are squeamish don't have to look at it, man that is some contraption.
  21. She's a cutie no matter what kind of cockatoo she is, thanks for sharing a pic of her with us.

    Toni's injuries

Ouch that looks painful but thanks Alesia for sharing that with us, I hope she does listen and do what is necessary for her to get back on her feet again. Tell her I wish her a speedy recovery and we miss her very much.
  23. Sounds yummy Tracy, I will have to try this and maybe give Josey a taste of it too, thanks for sharing that with us, now where did I put the blender:huh:
  24. Hello KnLMedlin and welcome to the family, we are so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. You want to put the cage where the family spends the most time when they are home and if the den is that room then fine, I have Josey's cage in the family room, that works for us. Josey does accompany me in the kitchen sometimes when I cook, it is not the cooking so much as what utensils you use, for teflon and non-stick cookware pose a hazard to greys. If you rid your home of that material then the kitchen does not have to be off limits other than to use precautions when using the stove to they don't get burned by a hot pan or a hot eye on the cooktop. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful and helpful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. You didn't provide much information in your first post, but if you already have your grey and you have any pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see it.
  25. Thanks Fal for that link for very important information for all grey owners but especially new ones.
