1. I've never heard of parrot tonic but I would keep an eye on her and do not hesitate to contact the vets by an emergency number if any are available if she gets any worse, keep us informed.
2. Yes wing clipping is a hot issue here, many feel very strongly one way or the other but it is your decision to make and you make it based on what you think is best for you and your grey.
3. Do not, I repeat do not use palm oil on the body, it is for internal use only, to be mixed with some food and eaten. I take my grey into the shower and use the handheld sprayer on her then you can finish with a spray of aloe vera juice, it makes the feathers softer and their skin more supple. Bathe them about twice weekly.
4. Well your grey will be squawking some words all right but it is up to you and your family to make sure you don't use the words you don't want repeated, LOL thats funny but true. I wish more potential grey owners would follow your example of researching well in advance of purchase, we would have a lot less of them in rescue and rehoming situations.
5. Hello Pammy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. I just assumed you have a grey or at least a parrot, am I right? Tell us what you have and the names of them. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have as we will do our best to get some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have a grey and have some pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
6. Good job being very observant of Jessie and you did the right thing, hope all goes well and let us know what you find out.
7. You should be enough for him on your wedding day Autumn but yes that would make for a super surprise wouldn't it.
8. It looks like the dog maybe broke it's leg:ohmy:

17. Hello Calvin and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your desire to have a grey. You are doing the right thing in researching for all the information you can find and reading lots of books, articles and from websites before you make that purchase. You will find lots of information here in our threads so please read thru them and ask questions if you have any as we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. You do have some experience with a larger bird but a grey is somewhat different from an amazon and you will find that out in your reading. I'm sorry you had to give him up but he was better off where he had more space to roam and explore.
18. BTW, Tracy is Lovemygreys in case you were wondering.
19. You have raised a very responsible daughter and you should be very proud of her as most kids would have forgotten about their promise as soon as the pet came home. I am sure in time the keet will get over the nervousness and cooperate with the training. That book is an excellent source of information on greys, one of my favorite ones.
20. It would be best to find a breeder of greys and purchase your bird from them, usually it would be a little cheaper that way also. Most of us shy away from getting our greys from pet stores as you don't know where they came from and who all has handled them and whatever You can either look locally for a breeder or go online and find some but if too far away for you to go pick it up it can be shipped to you. Most private breeders are very particular with their birds and handle and socialize them very well. One online source to look for breeders is www.avianbiotech.com

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2008/04/30 16:38

24. Hello Gaevren and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your quest for a grey. You have made a wise decision to research thoroughly and gather and read all you can before you do actually get your grey. They are unlike a lot of the other parrots and you need to understand what all is involved in owning one. It is a lifetime committment that is not be be taken lightly. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful and helpful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have, we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. Do you have any birds at this time, I am assuming you don't since you said you are researching birds but thought I would ask.
