Hello Jackie and welcome to the family, we are so glad that you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Pooky. Some of our members do lurk for a while and then it gets impossible to not join in the conversation and fun as we learn so much from each other and we are so friendly that we are a second family to each other. Spooky I too pick at the pin feathers but not on Josey, just Sunny, my sun conure, she does seem to enjoy it as she will close her eyes and turn her head so I can get to them. But occasionally I hit one that she reacts to and then she nips me but otherwise its go ahead and mess with them. I too use the red palm oil and I think that is why her feathers look so well.

Heather you should try the Tag in your salads then, the maroon feathers are the best:laugh: :sick: :blink:

Bert if you scratch over them and they hurt your bird you will know it for you will get bit:laugh: but seriously you do not need to worry about them, they will take care of themselves. Maybe a good misting with aloe vera juice would make Gizmo feel better as it is soothing for their skin. I haven't heard anything about eggs being good for them when molting but maybe some of the other members will know more about that.

I use newspaper too and several layers so I can just take up one layer when it gets soiled, I take a pair of scissors and cut a hole out for the column so it covers the bottom well.

Lovelylew I have the Parrot Tower tabletop green amazon one and it is very sturdy, Josey and Sunny both use it though not at the same time. The base is big enough to make it very secure for them to climb around on. Hope this helps.
